The present work investigated the effic.enc. of leaf reflec.anc. indic.s in the identific.tion of c.psic.m annuum L. var. annuum resistant to anthrac.ose in the fruit. Twenty-five F5:6 families originating from c.ntrasting parents were assessed;the parents were ac.ession UENF 2285 (susc.ptible to anthrac.ose) and ac.ession UENF 1381, a hot pepper resistant to anthrac.ose in the fruit. The experiment was c.rried out in an experimental field in c.mpos dos Goytac.zes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between May and Oc.ober of 2021. The treatments were arranged in a randomized bloc. design, with three replic.tions and five plants per plot. Fifteen LRIs were estimated using a c.-710 portable mini leaf spec.rometer. The assessments c.vered all plant growth after flowering, and a total of six assessments were performed at 15-days intervals, beginning at 35 and ending 120 days after flowering (DAFs). Analysis of varianc. in a split-plot sc.eme was performed, as were tests of mean groupings and princ.pal c.mponents analysis (Pc.). The best period for evaluating leaf reflec.anc. indic.s in c. annuum var. annuum is 120 days after flowering. The leaf reflec.anc. indic.s PRI, c.DVI and c.r2 stood out as effec.ive in distinguishing between resistant and susc.ptible genotypes.

In this work,we report long-term trends in the abundanc. and breeding performanc. of Adélie penguins(Pygosc.lis adeliae)nesting in three Antarc.ic.c.lonies(i.e.,at Martin Point,South Orkneys Islands;Stranger Point/c.bo Funes,South Shetland Islands;and Esperanza/Hope Bay in the Antarc.ic.Peninsula)from 1995/96 to 2022/*** yearly c.unt data of breeding groups selec.ed,we observed a dec.ine in the number of breeding pairs and c.ic.s in c.èc.e at all c.lonies ***,the magnitude of c.ange was higher at Stranger Point than that in the remaining ***,the index of breeding suc.ess,whic. was c.lc.lated as the ratio of c.ic.s in c.èc.e to breeding pairs,exhibited no apparent trend throughout the study ***,it displayed greater variability at Martin Point c.mpared to the other two c.lonies under *** the number of c.ic.s in c.èc.e of Adélie penguins showed a dec.ining pattern,the average breeding performanc. was similar to that reported in gentoo penguin c.lonies,spec.fic.lly,those undergoing a population inc.ease(even in sympatric.c.lonies fac.ng similar loc.l c.nditions).c.nsequently,it is plausible to assume a reduc.ion of the over-winter survival as a likely c.use of the dec.ining trend observed,at least in the Stranger Point and Esperanza ***,we c.nnot rule out loc.l effec.s during the breeding season affec.ing the Adélie population of Martin Point.

The treatment of hepatitis c.has undergone a signific.nt boom sinc. the advent of direc. ac.ing antivirals (DAA). Indeed, the interferon-ribavirin c.mbination that has been used to treat hepatitis c.has a virologic.l response in only 45% of c.ses with signific.nt side effec.s. The advent of direc.-ac.ing antivirals has c.anged the prognosis of c.rrhotic.patients with hepatitis c. DAAs have ensured a sustained viral response in the majority of patients. Our work aims to see the evolution of hepatitis c.patients at the c.rrhosis stage under DAA. We c.nduc.ed a retrospec.ive study over 15 years (January 2009, January 2024) inc.uding all patients with post-viral c.rrhosis c. whom we divided into two groups: group A, c.rrhotic.patients who rec.ived ribavirin and interferon, and group B, patients on DAA. From January 2009 to January 2024, we c.nduc.ed a study of 182 patients with viral hepatitis c. inc.uding 102 c.rrhotic.patients. The mean age was 55 years. 66% of patients were initially treated with the ribavirin interferon c.mbination, while 34% rec.ived direc.-ac.ing antivirals (DAAs). Sinc. the introduc.ion of DAAs, the most c.mmonly used regimens have been sofosbuvir/dac.atasvir with or without ribavirin and sofosbuvir/ledipasvir with or without ribavirin. Group A ac.ieved sustained virologic.l response (SVR) in 60% of c.ses, with notable side effec.s. In Group B, SVR was 98.18%, with improved tolerability and fewer side effec.s than previous treatments.
