Genomic and transcriptomic analyses enable the identification of important genes associated with subcutaneous fat deposition in Holstein cows

Subcutaneous fat deposition has many important roles in dairy cattle,including immunological defense and mechanical *** main objectives of this study are to identify key candidate genes regulating subcutaneous fat deposition in high-producing dairy cows by integrating genomic and transcriptomic datasets.A total of 1654 genotyped Holstein cows are used to perform a genome-wide association study(GWAS)aiming to identify genes associated with subcutaneous fat ***,weighted gene co-expression network analyses(WGCNA)are conducted based on RNA-sequencing data of 34 cows and cow yield deviations of subcutaneous fat ***,differentially expressed(DE)m RNA,lnc RNA,and differentially alternative splicing genes are obtained for 12 Holstein cows with extreme and divergent phenotypes for subcutaneous fat ***-six protein-coding genes are identified as candidate genes regulating subcutaneous fat deposition in Holstein cattle based on *** overlapping genes are identified based on the analyses of DE genes and ***,the candidate genes identified based on GWAS,WGCNA,and analyses of DE genes are significantly enriched for pathways involved in metabolism,oxidative phosphorylation,thermogenesis,fatty acid degradation,and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis *** all findings,the NID2,STARD3,UFC1,DEDD,PPP1R1B,and USP21 genes are considered to be the most important candidate genes influencing subcutaneous fat deposition traits in Holstein *** study provides novel insights into the regulation mechanism underlying fat deposition in high-producing dairy cows,which will be useful when designing management and breeding strategies.

The catalytic performance during the 1-butyne hydrogenation using two reduced Al_(2) O_(3)-supported Pdbased catalysts was carried out in a total recirculation system with an external fixed-bed *** lab-prepared egg-shell NiPd/CeO_(2)-Al_(2) O_(3) catalyst(NiPdCe) with Pd loading=0.5 wt%,Ni/Pd atomic ratio=1 and CeO_(2) loading=3 wt% was synthesized and characterized,and it was compared with an egg-shell Al_(2) O_(3)-supported Pd based commercial catalyst(PdCC).The reduced catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and high-resolution transmission electron *** textural characteristics and ammonia temperature-programmed desorption profiles of the fresh(unreduced) catalysts were also *** catalysts show high 1-butyne conversion and selectivity to 1-butene,but the catalysts also present important differences between hydroisomerizing and hydrogenating *** catalyst shows higher capability for hydroisomerization reactions,while the PdCC catalyst exhibits higher hydrogenating *** observed catalytic performances can be interesting for some industrial processes and can provide a guideline for the development of a Pd-based catalyst with specific catalytic properties.

Integrated risk management: a Petrobras application in offshore well construction safety to minimize critical emergency disconnections

In order to avoid mistakes and to save a great deal of time in analysis, an innovative methodology was developed that can analyze the well operations and rig characteristics involved to define the best emergency disconnect sequence （EDS） available. A solution was developed based on the characteristics of the rigs and blowout preventers （BOPs）, and six variables were considered that directly affect the choice of EDS. All possible combinations of 64 scenarios were analyzed, and the priority of choice of the EDS was defined empirically. This paper presents an approach to EDS risk management and examples of exposure time （time without riser safety margin and shear capability） for the same well, which can be lowered from 13% to 0.1%. The impact of this reduction is related to the ability of the BOP to cut some of the heavy casings, in addition to improved availability of EDS modes. This implementation opened up many possibilities for the performance of risk exposure analysis, enabling comparison of several BOP configurations of contracted rigs and selection of the best options. This innovative approach allowed a better management of the rig schedules, prioritizing safety aspects and making it possible to allocate the fleet in a systematic way.

Cloud forest ecosystems of the Latin American tropics are highly threatened by changes in land-use such as expanding croplands and livestock pastures that promote shifts in the structure and composition of plant communities in these ***,shade coffee plantations represent a forest management alternative that has been shown to maintain biodiversity in these *** this study,we evaluated changes in the composition,diversity,and structure of Mexican cloud-forest woody species for three land use categories:cattle pastures,shade coffee plantations and advanced succession *** each category,fifteen 0.28-ha plots were established and the composition and diversity of vegetation was *** of species was analyzed using ordination methods,and alpha diversity was compared using Hill ***-seven woody species belonging to 40 families were *** richness and diversity was high in both the advanced successional forest and coffee plantations compared to cattle *** composition and structure was similar between late succession forests and coffee plantations with both land uses also being more structurally complex than cattle *** results show how shade coffee cultivation is a land-use activity that maintains woody plant communities in a manner that aligns with biodiversity conservation.

Maximum Power Tracking of Photovoltaic Modules Based on Fuzzy Logic Employing Four-Phase Intervaled Boost Converter

Currently, there are significant investments in the study of distributed generation, including solar energy by the photovoltaic conversion method. Basically, a cell directly converts solar energy to electricity. For this, static converters are required. However, relevant issues arise in this process: point of maximum efficiency of module generation, strategy of control of the flow of energy to the network. The aim of this work is to monitor the main variables of a photovoltaic system, specifically the voltage and current module and their derivates. The goal is to implement the maximum power tracking technique using Fuzzy logic. In addition, the energy provided by the cell will be employed in an inverter stage that can operate as an active filter, voltage regulator, or generator of reactive and active power. The feasibility of using Fuzzy logic will also be studied. The first stage of this work involves parameterization and simulation of photovoltaic modules. The initial study examines the compatibility of a commercial module and its catalog data with the results of simulation. The simulated I-V characteristics show almost identical results to the catalog data. In sequence, a boost or lift DC-DC converter is employed to emulate variable load for maximum power transfer.

价值创造是所有企业的目标,但是很多企业常常不为顾客创造价值。为了从更高的角度理解价值创造理论,一些学者使用了价值生态这一新的术语。为了成功地传递价值,企业经常追求创新的方法来盈利,提高顾客忠诚度,使其产品或服务更吸引消费者,为客户创造价值。在这些商业模型中,共享经济也不例外。尽管相对新颖,但是最近在全球取得成功的商业模型显示,共享经济模型对于促进经济发展有多重要。本研究的目的就是理解价值生态这一概念,确定驱动价值创造的变量,理解在共享经济环境下的内涵。使用案例研究方法,通过对两个案例的比较和对二手数据的分析,本研究验证了共享经济环境下价值创造的机制。首先,本文选择了一个具有多元战略的共享经济实例Uber,将其与集中战略的共享经济实例Ofo作比较。第二,通过对共享经济、价值创造、价值链和价值生态等方面的二手数据的分析,本文比较了两者是如何运作的,以及各自的机制是如何创造客户价值的。第三,使用定性研究来比较两个案例的机制,由此得出结论,成本节约、效力、反馈等因素受以下四个因素的影响:对共享经济和资源联盟特点的完整评估、价值生态管理和价值合作、实验和持久性以及有效性,创新自主和再造。这样,共享经济环境下便产生了价值驱动因素,价值生态就形成了。本研究的发现包括共享经济价值创造下的价值生态框架的构造以及解释研究问题的理论上的贡献。这些发现能够为将来的研究提供帮助,可以识别价值生态和网络关系是如何影响共享经济环境下的价值创造的,同时能为将来的价值生态概念的演进提供新的视角。

Protective Effect of <i>Camellia sinensis</i>on Methotrexate-Induced Small Intestinal Mucositis in Mice

Background: Green tea has been used as a daily beverage for several years. Anti-inflammatory effect of tea has also been depicted in different papers. Therefore we had set forward this study to examine the potential anti- inflammatory activity of green tea in small intestine mucositis experimental models. Aims: Evaluation of anti- inflammatory effects of green tea on mice. Materials and Methods: Green tea decoction (20%) was prepared by soaking 20 g of green tea in 100 ml boiled water separately, soaked for 2 minutes and thereafter filtered. In- flammatory activity was induced using methotrexate (2.75 g/kg/24 h sc), and a protecting effect of mucositis con- dition was investigated by vitamin E and Camellia sinensis decoction. Study Design: An experimental study was approved by an Animal Ethical Commitee. Results: Green tea decoction (20%) has shown significant anti-in- flammatory effects (65% and 70%) on methotrexate-induced acute mucositis model. In villous atrophy Green tea decoction (10% and 20%) has shown no protecting action at different intestinal segments. But at intestinal crypt hyperplasia, green tea decoction has shown 65.74%, as compared to mucositis group. An increase of apoptotic bodies were acchieved at MTX group, CS reduced this occurrence. Conclusion: Taken together, our data indi- cate that green tea (20%) has a potential anti-inflammatory compared vitamin E antioxidant action and cor- roborates with the current trend of tea being promoted as “health drink”. However more pharmacological and biochemical assays is necessary to elucidate mechanisms.

EXAFS study of cation reordering in NaYF_4:Yb^(3+),Tb^(3+) up-conversion luminescence materials

The NaYF4：yb3＋,Tb3＋（Xyb： 0.20, XTb： 0.04） materials were prepared using the co-precipitation method, lne as-preparea material was washed either with or without water in addition to ethanol and thereafter annealed for 5 h at 500℃. This resulted in materials with moderate or very high up-conversion luminescence intensity, respectively. The structural study carried out with X-ray powder diffraction revealed microstrains in the rare earth （R） sublattice that were relaxed for the material with very high up-conversion intensity thus decreasing energy losses. The local structural details were investigated with R LⅢ and Y K edge ex- tended X-ray absorption fine structure （EXAFS） using synchrotron radiation. Around 10 tool.% of the Yb3＋ ions were found to occupy the Na site in the material with very high up-conversion intensity. These Yb species formed clusters with the Tb3＋ ions occupying the regular Na/R sites. Such clustering enhanced the energy transfer between Yb3＋ and Tb3＋ thus intensifying the up-conversion emission.
