The habanero chili （Capsicum chinense Jacq.） is a species of great demand in the domestic and international markets. One problem in the cultivation is low percentage of seed germination. There is little information on the use of promoters and imbibition time to increase this parameter, without compromising the quality of seedlings. In this context, authors assessed the independent effect of GAs （gibberellic acid） and KNos at concentrations of 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 mg·L1. Seeds without preconditioning were the witness. The experimental unit was a Petri dish with 50 seeds on filter paper placed equidistant. There were three replicates per treatment and the experimental design was randomized complete block. Imbibition time was 24 h. The experimental units were kept in an incubator at 22 ± 2 ℃. From the time of planting and for periods of 24 h for 14 d, experimental units were reviewed to determine the time at the beginning of germination and the total cumulative percentage. The authors also determined the number of normal and abnormal seedlings, the length of hypocotyl and radicle, weight of fresh and dry matter of seedlings. On the fifth day after sowing in vitro, concentrations of 500 mg·L^-1 of GAs, 300 and 400 mg·L^-1 KNO3, increased 208% the percentage of seed germination of habanero chile. On day 14 after sowing in vitro concentrations of 500 mg·L^-1 GA3, 300 and 400 mg·L^-1 KNO3, increased 23% normal seedlings and 40% dry matter thereof, with respect to seeds obtained without preconditioning. Unconditioned seeds before sowing produced 125% more seedlings.

Objective: Few studies have related nutritional factors with quality of life in healthy populations. Our aim was to analyze the relationship between commercial bakery, fast food or soft drinks consumption and mental and physical quality of life. Study Design: This analysis included 8335 participants from the 'Seguimiento Universidad de Navarra' (SUN) Project (a multipurpose, dynamic cohort). Methods: The consumption of commercial bakery, fast food and soft drinks was assessed through a validated food-frequency questionnaire at baseline. Quality of life was measured after 4 years of follow-up with the Short-Form 36 (SF-36) Health Survey. Generalized Linear Models were fit to assess the regression coefficients (b) and their 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) for the association between commercial bakery, fast food and soft drinks consumption and each domain and the two standardized measures of the SF-36. results: As compared to the participants in the lowest quintile of consumption, those participants in the highest quintile of consumption of commercial bakery, fast food and soft drinks showed a score significantly lower (>2 points) for vitality (b = -2.14, 95% CI = -3.31 to -0.96), role emotional (b = -2.23, 95% CI = -4.33 to -0.13), and role physical (b = -2.31, 95% IC = -4.26 to -0.36) domains with statistically significant dose-response relationships (p for trend roups were analysed separately, significant inverse associations were found only for commercial bakery and fast-food consumption. Conclusions: The results suggest that high consumption of commercial bakery, fast-food and soft drinks at baseline was associated with worse scores on self-perceived quality of life. This association was stronger for the mental domains of the SF-36.

Simultaneous Kerr comb formation and second-harmonic generation with on-chip microresonators can greatly facilitate comb self-referencing for optical clocks and frequency ***,the presence of both second-and third-order nonlinearities results in complex cavity dynamics that is of high scientific interest but is still far from being ***,we demonstrate that the interaction between the fundamental and the second-harmonic waves can provide an entirely new way of phase matching for four-wave mixing in optical microresonators,enabling the generation of optical frequency combs in the normal dispersion regime under conditions where comb creation is ordinarily *** derive new coupled time-domain mean-field equations and obtain simulation results showing good qualitative agreement with our experimental *** findings provide a novel way of overcoming the dispersion limit for simultaneous Kerr comb formation and second-harmonic generation,which might prove to be especially important in the near-visible to visible range where several atomic transitions commonly used for the stabilization of optical clocks are located and where the large normal material dispersion is likely to dominate.

The importance of evaluating the leaf area in red tomato plants aims to determine the growth and development of crops established two production cycles, spring-summer and autumn-winter to compare the influence of temperature on the growth of leaf area. repeated, weekly samples were taken by identifying the week and determining the growth and leaf area development using Markov chains, using an array of transition to describe and represent in a flowchart the finite number of physiological States. With the analysis in the steady state process and applying the equations of odds, we get that leaf area growth is established from the seventh week shown in the first cycle (C1) with the chance of 0.266, 0.264 and 0.263, in the last two weeks. It was observed an increase of 6% in the cycle autumn-winter cycle compared spring-summer.

BACKGrOUND The high prevalence and persistence of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection, as well as the diversity of pathologies related to it, suggest that the virulence factors used by this microorganism are varied. Moreover, as its proteome contains 340hypothetical proteins, it is important to investigate them to completely understand the mechanisms of its virulence and survival. We have previously reported that the hypothetical protein HP0953 is overexpressed during the first hours of adhesion to inert surfaces, under stress conditions, suggesting its role in the environmental survival of this bacterium and perhaps as a virulence *** To investigate the expression and localization of HP0953 during adhesion to an inert surface and against gastric(AGS) *** Expression analysis was performed for HP0953 during H. pylori adhesion. HP0953 expression at 0,3, 12, 24, and 48 h was evaluated and compared using the Kruskal-Wallis equality-of-populations rank test. recombinant protein was produced and used to obtain polyclonal antibodies for immunolocalization. Immunogold technique was performed on bacterial sections during adherence to inert surfaces and AGS cells, which was analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. HP0953 protein sequence was analyzed to predict the presence of a signal peptide and transmembrane helices, both provided by the ExPASy platform, and using the GLYCOPP platform for glycosylation sites. Different programs, via, I-TASSEr, raptorX, and HHalign-Kbest, were used to perform three-dimensional *** HP0953 exhibited its maximum expression at 12 h of infection in gastric epithelium *** technique revealed HP0953 localization in the cytoplasm and accumulation in some peripheral areas of the bacterial body, with greater expression when it is close to AGS *** analysis revealed the presence of a signal peptide that interacts with the transmembrane region and then allows the release of the protein

Background: Aloe vera has been used by many civilizations throughout history due to the numerous properties attributed. Gastro oesophageal reflux disease is a common disorder with consequences for the patient’s health related quality of life. Aims: The purpose of this study was to assess the benefits of the Aloe vera in 80 patients with gastro oesophageal reflux. Methods: This is probably the first randomised and double-blind trail ever performed on this subject. The study included eight weeks of treatment with milk enriched with Aloe vera or placebo. Data of diet (frequency questionnaire), symptoms (gastrointestinal symptom rating scale) and quality of life (quality of life in reflux and disease) were obtained. results: So far, there has been hardly any proof that Aloe vera decreases symptoms of reflux disease;on the contrary, a lower percentage of remission of pain is observed among the Aloe vera group. As long as its effectiveness has not been proven properly, the use of Aloe vera in reflux disease cannot be recommend. Conclusion: Aloe vera does not have a beneficial effect on reflux disease under the study conditions.

The implementation of alternative harvest systems which are able to accelerate the kinetics of growth of plants, is extremely important to decrease the time of crop. In this sense, Electro-Hydroponic culture, i.e., the application of an electric field in the nutrient solution of the hydroponic culture emerges as an alternative and interesting harvest system. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of the electric field applying different intensities of direct current (DC) at the galvanostatic regime (50, 37.5, 25 and 12.5 mA) on the growth of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) plants in hydroponic culture. Fifty lettuce plants were used in a nutrient solution, from which 4 groups composed of ten lettuces each one, were subjected at 12.5, 25, 37.5 and 50 mA, respectively. A fifth group of ten lettuces was used as a reference test, i.e., without application of DC. The experiments were carried out during 16 days. The results reveal that the kinetics of growth of the lettuce is dependent on the applied current;actually it is observed an increase in the foliate area of the plants cultivated in the presence of DC than that obtained in the reference test. Furthermore, the plants subjected at 12.5 mA, revealed an increase in the foliate area of 65.3% and 73.2% in comparison with the reference test.

The advantage of using plants in nanoparticles synthesis is that they are easily available, safe to handle and possess a broad variability of metabolites such as antioxidants, nucleotides and vitamins. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Green and Zimbro tea and also Green coconut water as a reducing and stabilizer agent in gold nanoparticle synthesis. The gold nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XrD), Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. Their physical stability was determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer over several days during storage at room temperature. We observed that green chemical process to obtain gold nanoparticles did not require any external chemicals reagent for stabilization of nanoparticulate. Absorption measurements indicated that the plasmon resonance wavelength appears around 530 nm. X-ray diffracto-grams of gold nanoparticles evidenced the presence of Au-rich (fcc) phases. TEM analysis showed a homogeneous dispersion of nanoparticles and some agglomerates. Differences in size and shape of the nanoparticles were observed. Zeta potential of AuNPs synthetized in presence of Green tea was -33 mV indicating stability of the synthesized nanoparticles.
