In this paper,a new study concerning the usage of artificial neural networks in the control application is *** is shown,that the data gathered during proper operation of a given control plant can be used in the learning process to fully embrace the control ***,the instances driven by neural networks have the ability to outperform the original analytically driven *** different control schemes,namely perfect,linear-quadratic,and generalized predictive controllers were used in the theoretical *** addition,the nonlinear recurrent neural network-based generalized predictive controller with the radial basis function-originated predictor was obtained to exemplify the main results of the paper regarding the real-world application.

A two-dimensional numerical mine strata in the vicinity of seam 349 in model of a large （1 000 m× 200 m） section of Iongwall panel 802 in part B of the Murcki Colliery in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, Poland, was built using the Universal Distinct Element Code UDEC. Longwall extraction of seam 349 with roof caving was simulated in the model over a length of 450 m. Mining-induced changes in displacements, strains and stresses in the mine strata were investigated. Under the assumptions that （1） methane-bearing strata occur 15.6 m beneath seam 349 and include seam 350 and the strata lying beneath, and （2） the methane reservoir pressure is equal to 2 MPa, a fully coupled mechanical hydraulic analysis was performed in which joint conductivity was dependent on the mechanical deformation and, conversely, the mechanical behavior of rock masses was affected by joint fluid pressure. It was shown that migration of methane from coal seams lying beneath the mined seam is possible under conditions where the floor strata deform to a great extent, undergo separation, fracture and break into blocks.

The flow velocity of gases in gobs directly influences the kinetics and intensity of gaseous components release during heating and cooling of *** assessment of fire hazard is performed on the basis of concentrations of particular gases in a mine *** concentrations differ in coal heating and cooling phase which was proven in the *** paper presented the results of the experimental study on temperature distribution in a simulated coal bed in heating(50–250°C)and cooling(250–35°C)phases as well as its correlation to variations in concentration of gases released in these phases and flow rates of gases flowing through the coal *** research was performed on twenty-two samples of bituminous coals acquired from various coal beds of Polish coal *** differences were observed between heating and cooling phases in terms of the concentrations of gases taken into account in calculations of self-combustion *** the heating phase temperature increase resulted in the decrease of concentrations ratios of ethane,ethylene,propane,propylene and acetylene,while in the cooling phase these ratios increased *** effect of air(in heating phase)and nitrogen(in cooling phase)flow rate on the self-ignition index CO/CO2 was also determined.

AIM:To evaluate the incidence of increased intraocular pressure(IOP)and glaucomatous changes in systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)patients in comparison with systemic steroids and immunosuppressive ***:Sixty-two women with SLE were divided into two groups:treated(n=47,94 eyes)and not treated(n=15,30 eyes)with systemic glucocorticosteroids(GC;GC-free).Twenty-one individuals in GC group were treated with immunosuppressive agents(immunomodulating and biologic).The visual acuity and IOP with ocular pulsatile amplitude(OPA)measurements,as well as scanning laser polarimetry(GDx)with nerve fiber index(NFI)measurement,spectral domain optical coherence tomography(SD-OCT)of the optic disk with retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)analysis and the macular region with ganglion cell analysis(GCA)were ***:Mean IOP values in group with combined GC and immunosuppressive therapy was 15.8±2.56 mm Hg and was significantly lower than in individuals with exclusive GC treatment(17.63±4.38 mm Hg,P=0.043).Contrary,no dif ferences in mean IOP values between GC-free group and individuals treated with combined GC and immunosuppressive therapy were detected(P=0.563).Similarly,mean IOP in GC was 17.14±3.94 mm Hg and in GC-free patients was equal to 16.67±3.45 mm Hg(P=0.671).According to treatment regimen no statistical differences in optic disk SD-OCT for RNFL thickness,RNFL symmetry,cupping volume and the C/D ratio were ***,no statistical differences for the mean and minimal ganglion cell layer(GCL)thickness measured in macular SD-OCT or NFI in GDx were ***:Combined immunosuppressive and systemic GC therapy in SLE patients may lower the risk of iatrogenic ocular *** relationship between treatment regimen and glaucomatous damage of optic nerve fibers in analyzed groups with SLE is detected.

The polyurethane, which was the subject of the constitutive research presented in the paper, was based on oligocarbonate diols Desmophen C2100 produced by Bayer？. The constitutive modelling was performed with a view to applying the material as the inlay of intervertebral disc prostheses. The polyurethane was assumed to be non-linearly viscohyperelastic, isotropic and incompressible. The constitutive equation was derived from the postulated strain energy function. The elastic and rheological constants were identified on the basis of experimental tests, i.e. relaxation tests and monotonic uniaxial tests at two different strain rates, i.e. λ= 0.1 min-1 and λ= 1.0 min-1. The stiffness tensor was derived and introduced to Abaqus？finite element（FE） software in order to numerically validate the constitutive model. The results of the constants identification and numerical implementation show that the derived constitutive equation is fully adequate to model stress-strain behavior of the polyurethane material.

Many studies on random packed beds have been dedicated to local porosity(void fraction)or orientation distribution of ***,despite the random nature of the considered packings,very little attention has been devoted to examination whether the number of particles used in experiments/simulations is sufficiently large to get reproducible *** reproducibility of the key packing parameters depends on the size of the population of particles(sample size)and ordering effects induced by the confining *** work investigates quantitatively the influence of the sample size on the statistical variation of the packed bed *** beds of Raschig rings were generated with a sequential algorithm and three column diameters were *** has been found that in the case of the orientation distribution the results depend strongly on the sample size,especially for slender columns,while the porosity profiles are well-reproducible characteristics even for relatively small packings of *** complementary results for full cylinders are also included.

An algorithm of the gradient method of the channel shape optimization has been built on the basis of 3D equations of mass, momentum and energy conservation in the fluid flow. The gradient of the functional that is posed for minimization has been calculated by two methods, via sensitivities and - for comparison - by the finite difference approximation. The equations for sensitivities have been generated through a differentiate-then-discretize approach. The exemplary optimization of the blade shape of the centrifugal compressor wheel has been carried out for the inviscid gas flow governed by Euler equations with a non-uniform mass flow distribution as the inlet boundary condition. Mixing losses have been minimized downstream the outlet of the centrifugal wheel in this exemplary optimization. The results of the optimization problem accomplished by the two above-mentioned methods have been presented. In the case sparse grids have been used, the method with the gradient approximated by finite differences has been found to be more consistent. The discretization accuracy has turned out to be crucial for the consistency of the gradient method via sensitivities.

A new kind of temporal inequalities are discussed, which apply to algorithmic processes, involving a finite memory processing unit. They are an alternative to the Leggett-Grag ones, as well as to the modified ones by Brukner et al. If one considers comparison of quantum anti classical processes involving systems of finite memory （of the same capacity in both cases）, the inequalities give a clear message why we can expect quantum speed-up. In a classical process one always has clearly defined values of possible measurements, or in terms of the information processing language, if we have a sequential computations of some function depending on data arriving at each step on an algorithm, the function always has a clearly defined value. In the quantum case only the final value, after the end of the algorithm, is defined. All intermediate values, in agreement with Bohr＇s complementarity, cannot be ascribed a definite value.
