background:The control of vector-borne diseases(VbD)is one of the greatest challenges on the global health *** and uncontrolled urbanization has heightened the interest in addressing these challenges through an integrated vector management(IVM)*** aim was to identify components related to impacts,economic evaluation,and sustainability that might contribute to this integrated approach to VbD *** body:We conducted a scoping review of available literature(2000-2016)using PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane,CINAHL,Econlit,LILACS,Global Health Database,Scopus,and Embase,as well as Tropical Diseases bulletin,WHOLIS,WHO Pesticide Evaluation Scheme,and Google *** terms and free-text terms were used.A data extraction form was used,including TIDieR and *** and CHEERS were used to evaluate *** the 42 documents reviewed,30 were focused on dengue,eight on malaria,and two on *** than a half of the studies were conducted in the *** used a quantitative descriptive approach(n=21),followed by cluster randomized controlled trials(n=11).Regarding impacts,outcomes were:a)use of measures for vector control;b)vector control;c)health measures;and d)social *** reduced breeding sites,the entomology index,and parasite *** were heterogeneous,with variable magnitudes,but in all cases were favourable to the *** of IVM impacts on health outcomes was very limited but showed reduced *** outcomes were improved abilities and capacities,empowerment,and community *** economic evaluation,only four studies performed an economic analysis,and intervention benefits outweighed *** was dependent on illness *** results provided key elements to analyze sustainability in terms of three dimensions(social,economic,and environmental),emphasizing the implementation of a community-focused eco-bio-social ***:IVM has an impact on redu

Current cell-wall models assume no covalent bonding between cellulose and hemicelluloses such as xyloglu-can or mixed-linkageβ-D-glucan(MLG).However,Equisetum hetero-trans-β-glucanase(HTG)grafts cellu-lose onto xyloglucan oligosaccharides(XGOs)-and,we now show,xyloglucan polysaccharide-in vitro,thus exhibiting CXE(cellulose:xyloglucan endotransglucosylase)*** addition,HTG also catalyzes MLG-to-XGO bonding(MXE activity).In this study,we explored the CXE action of HTG in native plant cell walls and tested whether expansin exposes cellulose to HTG by disrupting hydrogen *** quantify and visu-alize CXE and MXE action,we assayed the sequential release of HTG products from cell walls pre-labeled with substrate *** demonstrated covalent cellulose--xyloglucan bonding in plant cell walls and showed that CXE and MXE action was up to 15%and 60%of total transglucanase action,respectively,and peaked in aging,strengthening tissues:CXE in xylem and cells bordering intercellular canals and MXE in *** bacterial expansin(EXLX1)strongly augmented CXE activity in *** and MXE ac-tion in living Equisetum structural tissues potentially strengthens stems,while expansin might augment the HTG-catalyzed CXE reaction,thereby allowing efficient CXE action in *** methods will enable surveys for comparable reactions throughout the plant ***,engineering similar hetero-polymer formation into angiosperm crop plants may improve certain agronomic traits such as lodging tolerance.

Aims: This study examined whether genetic polymorphisms of tobacco and alcohol-related metabolic genes such as GSTM1, GSTT1, GSTP1, CYP1A1, CYP2E1 and DNA repair genes (XRCC1 194Trp, XRCC1 399Gln, and XRCC3 Met) contribute to the risk of developing OSCC. Methods: Patients eligible for inclusion were over 18 years, had pathologically confirmed OSCC and were followed prospectively for at least two years or until death, from December 2000 to December 2004. Ninety-two OSCC patients were included along with 244 subjects from the same hospital, evaluated in the same period as patients without cancer, as the control group. Results: GSTM1 null and XRCC1-194Trp alone increased the risk of OSCC (OR, 2.15;95% CI, 1.2 - 3.6 and OR, 2.02;95% CI, 1.01 - 4.03, respectively). The joint effect of GSTM1 null with CYP1A1 or CYP2E1 polymorphism increased the risk two to threefold. Similar results were observed when XRCC1-194Trp was combined with GSTM1 null or the CYP2E1 polymorphism. by contrast, XRCC1- 399Gln was associated with protection against OSCC. Gene-gene and gene-environmental interactions were mainly detected for CYP1A1 and GSTP1 associated with more than 20 p/y of tobacco and XRCC1-194Trp when more than 30 g/L/d of alcohol was consumed (OR, 8.8;95% CI;1.3 - 45.7). Conclusions: The drug metabolizing and DNA repair enzyme polymorphisms may be informative for clinicians in the preventive management of patients at risk, particularly those with strong smoking and drinking habits.

The results observed in the literature raise the hypothesis according to which cytokinin plays important roles in photosynthetic metabolisms and antioxidant enzymes. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the effect of foliar application of the isolated cytokinin kinetin at the production cycle, seeking to analyze its effects on enzyme activity and photosynthetic parameters. The plants treated with CK presented reduction of leaf CO_2 assimilation rate(Pn) and stomatal conductance(Gs), while that transpiration rate(Tr) was unaffected. The internal CO_2 concentrations decreased with the increase in cytokinin levels, but were maintained under CK 50 mg·L^(-1). The plants treated with CK 75 mg·L^(-1) was verified higher carboxylation efficiency(Pn/Ci), which was associated to values of CO_2 assimilation and transpiration unaltered. Apparent electron transport rate showed variations in the concentration of 25 mg·L^(-1). Considering the study of enzyme activity, on the other hand, it cannot be stated that kinetin has an effective action in delaying oxidative damage. It presents mixed results, since an efficiency in the application of cytokinin was not observed, presenting induction levels of ascorbate peroxidase activity. Thus, further research is needed to determine more precisely the effects of kinetin on gas exchange and antioxidant enzymes in anthurium plants.

为了审估FAb分类法的再现性和临床意义、三名观察者用双盲法各自复习了233例儿童急性白血病在确诊时所做的骨髓涂片、在170例急性淋巴细胞型白血病（ALL）的病例中、三者一致同意亚型分类者（L1、L2和L3型）占69.4％。两者意见基本一致者占86.8％。血液学缓解后的12个月中,在L1型的61例患儿中有57例（93.4％）、与L2型的20例患儿中有14例（70％）相比、仍存在着统计学差异（P<0.05）。这两组在缓解后24个月或36个月相比,则没有统计学差异。7岁以上的儿童L2型发病率升高（P<0.05）。我们的结论是虽然对各自所用的分类法标准的解释差异很大,但都同意原始细胞形态学对预后的判定可能是有用的因素。

The organosulfur compound sulforaphane(SFN;C6H11NOS2) is a potent cytoprotective agent promoting antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiglycative, and antimicrobial effects in in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Mitochondria are the major site of adenosine triphosphate(ATP) production due to the work of the oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS) system. They are also the main site of reactive oxygen species(ROS) production in nucleated human cells. Mitochondrial impairment is central in several human diseases, including neurodegeneration and metabolic disorders. In this paper, we describe and discuss the effects and mechanisms of action by which SFN modulates mitochondrial function and dynamics in mammalian cells. Mitochondria-related pro-apoptotic effects promoted by SFN in tumor cells are also discussed. SFN may be considered a cytoprotective agent, at least in part, because of the effects this organosulfur agent induces in mitochondria. Nonetheless, there are certain points that should be addressed in further experiments, indicated here as future directions, which may help researchers in this field of research.
