Positive interactions are defined as non-trophic interactions where at least one of the interacting species is benefited in terms of fitness and the other remains ***,the bidirectional feedbacks between species may be positive,neutral or ***,if facilitated species induce negative effects on their‘nurses’,the assumed definition of positive interactions could be *** We assessed if ecological interactions between cushions of Azorella madreporica and their facilitated species are ***,we tested if cover of facilitated species has any costs for cushion plants from an ecophysiological perspective,and if these costs increase with the amount of cover of facilitated *** addition,through pathway analysis and correlations,we assessed if cover and richness of facilitated species have a direct and/or indirect effect on the fitness of cushion *** Findings We found that facilitated plant species induced a significant cost for their nurses(cushion plants),and this cost increases with cover of the facilitated ***,the facilitated species exert a strong direct negative effect on the cushion’s fitness and a moderate indirect negative cost evident through the nutrient status and physiological performance of cushion *** thus contribute evidence that positive interactions between high mountain cushion plants of central Chile and their‘facilitated’species may be an artifact more than a fact,especially when bidirectional effects are considered;contrasting with the majority of studies that document only one side of the interaction.

俯冲带中的流体可能对俯冲过程产生重要影响.然而,关于大陆俯冲期间流体规模及其作用的地球物理约束仍然有限.西阿尔卑斯造山带是全球保存最完好的大陆俯冲带之一,为认识大陆俯冲过程中流体作用的影响提供了重要的参考.本文综合多种地球物理方法分析了西阿尔卑斯造山带地区的V_(P)/V_(S)比值,发现在俯冲区的上盘侧存在高V_(P)/V_(S)(>1.9)带,与部分蛇纹岩化的上覆地幔楔位置一致;而在下盘侧存在异常低的V_(P)/V_(S)(<1.7)带,异常深度浅于30km.本文认为,观测到的低V_(P)/V_(S)比值异常是由地壳内广泛分布的富硅岩脉导致,指示了在俯冲时期大陆俯冲界面之上可能存在的富硅流体流动.本文的结果暗示俯冲时期的流体流动可能降低了俯冲界面的有效应力,从而促进了大陆俯冲.

Purpose:Dental and orofacial trauma among the adult population constitutes a major public health *** impact is not just physical but also *** analyse the impacts of dental and orofacial trauma on oral health-related quality of life(OHRQoL)in adults and determine whether the 2 variables are closely ***:This is a systematic *** terms“dental trauma”,“orofacial trauma”,“oral health”,“oral health related impact life”,“OHRQoL”,“positive and negative affect scale”,“quality of life”,“facial injuries”,“adults”,and“young adults”were researched in the databases of PubMed,ScienceDirect,Scopus and Google Scholar for associated studies up to December 30,2022.A comprehensive search was designed and the articles were independently screened for eligibility by 2 *** included studies’author,year of publication,the country where the study was conducted,population demographics(number and age),an instrument used for assessing OHRQoL and the relevant result were recorded and *** quality of the evidence was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute checklist for observational ***:Out of 482 unique records,3 articles were included for data *** studies were *** studies did not mention confounding *** scales were used for dental and orofacial trauma and *** has a directly proportional relationship with orofacial *** with orofacial trauma have a significant impact on this value with a prevalence of 88.4%.Conclusion:The highest impact on OHRQoL was seen immediately after the diagnosis of an orofacial *** impact increases with the severity of the ***,to promote overall dental and general health,health education initiatives should include information on the causes,prevention,and requirement for prompt responses by the populace in seeking dental intervention.

During the earthquake in Emilia（Italy） of 2012,ca.30 permanent GPS stations were in operation within a radius of about 100 km from the epicenter,each equipped with an antenna rigidly fixed to the host building and sampling the GPS signal at a high rate（〉 1 Hz）.From the recording of the GPS measurements,the instantaneous displacements s（t） in the NorthSouth and East-West directions of the phase centers of the single GPS antennas at each permanent station during the most important seismic sequences were calculated in kinematic ***,for each of the two displacements considered as two distinct external forces,the elastic response spectra of the building were determined and from them the two periods of vibration T along two orthogonal directions coinciding with the walls of the building were *** experimentally obtained periods of vibration were compared with those inferable from the technical *** this way,a sufficiently large sample was obtained per building type,geometry（square,rectangular,regular or irregular planimetry）,height（from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 20 m） and materials（masonry,reinforced concrete,etc.）.From the computational point of view,the study confirmed that GPS is an emerging tool for monitoring dynamic displacements and the experimentally estimated value of T is always lower than the one estimated with the formulae reported in the *** limitations of the study lie in the impossibility to choose a priori the geometry and/or structural type of the building hosting the GPS station.

We really appreciated Geramizadeh, " Bile spillage and incidental gall bladder adenocarcinoma ", and Sandstrom et al. ,"Bile spillage should be avoided in elective cholecystectomy " (1,2). Both papers have been recently published in HepatoBiliary Surgery and Nutrition, 2019 (1,2). Starting from an analysis of the recent paper by Horkoff et al. "Adverse outcomes after bile spillage in incidental gall bladder cancer " in Annals of Surgery April 2019, they introduced a comprehensive discussion about epidemiology, diagnosis, therapy, prognostic factors and outcomes of incidental gallbladder cancer (1-3). They analyzed the possible risks related to bile spillage after cholecystectomy, in particular (1,2).

Background: Neuroendocrine neoplasms are those that develop from a neuroendocrine cell. They most commonly affect the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, and pancreas, being rare conditions in the female genital tract. When present, these neoplasms often manifest with nonspecific signs and symptoms such as pain, itching, swelling, single-focus lesions, bleeding, and enlargement of inguinal lymph nodes, in addition to the presence of progressively enlarging vulvar nodules. Consequently, the diagnostic investigation involves histopathological examination and confirmation through immunohistochemistry. Objective: To present a comprehensive understanding of this rarely studied pathology. The primary objective is to provide valuable insights that could aid in the future development of universally applicable treatment guidelines. Case Presentation: A 57-year-old female, with no prior comorbidities, menopause at 36, who presented with a left vulvar nodule accompanied by intense pain and swelling, later diagnosed with small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in the vulva. Conclusion: This case report highlights the importance of enhancing our knowledge regarding small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in the vulva, given its scarcity in medical literature. The information presented here underscores the need for standardized diagnostic and treatment approaches, paving the way for future consensus on managing this uncommon but challenging neoplasm.

Potential of a fucoidan-rich Ascophyllum nodosum extract to reduce Salmonella shedding and improve gastrointestinal health in weaned pigs naturally infected with Salmonella

Background:Dietary supplementation with a fucoidan-rich Ascophyllum nodosum extract(ANE),possessing an in vitro anti-Salmonella Typhimurium activity could be a promising on-farm strategy to control Salmonella infection in *** objectives of this study were to:1)evaluate the *** activity of ANE(containing 46.6%fucoidan,18.6%laminarin,10.7%mannitol,4.6%alginate)in vitro,and;2)compare the effects of dietary supplementation with ANE and Zinc oxide(ZnO)on growth performance,Salmonella shedding and selected gut parameters in naturally infected *** was established post-weaning(newly weaned pig experiment)and following regrouping of post-weaned pigs and experimental re-infection with ***(challenge experiment).Results:In the in vitro assay,increasing ANE concentrations led to a linear reduction in *** counts(P0.05).ANE supplementation decreased the Enterobacteriaceae counts compared to the *** counts were also reduced in the ZnO-residual group compared to the control(P<0.05).ANE supplementation decreased the expression of interleukin 22 and transforming growth factor beta 1 in the ileum compared to the control(P<0.05).Conclusions:ANE supplementation was associated with some beneficial changes in the composition of the colonic microbiota,Salmonella sh

We read with pleasure papers by Cai et al. and Jia et al. published in HepatoBiliary Surgery and Nutrition, 2018, Volume 7, Issue 2 and 4, respectively (1,2). Both papers introduced comprehensive up-to-date literature reviews on indications and patient selection, surgical instruments, techniques, and outcomes of laparoscopic liver resections (LLRs) (1,2). Papers mentioned final statements by 2008 Louisville Statement and 2014 Morioka Consensus Conference (1,2). They stressed LLR non-inferiority to open procedures, in both minor and major liver resections as far as oncological and intraoperative/perioperative outcomes are concerned: reduced blood loss, lower postoperative morbidity and shorter length of hospitalization (1,2). Such results were corroborated by recent meta-analyses (3,4). Furthermore, some previous limitations for LLR look like they have been recently overcome (1-5). For example, tumor size, patient's old age and high BMI are no longer limitations for LLR, as Southampton Consensus guidelines suggested (5). Likewise, cirrhosis has been suggested as a further indication of LLR in highly selected patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and where it was performed by experienced surgeons (1-5).

Coccidiosis is a disease caused by intracellular protozoan parasites, specifically belonging to the genus Eimeria. These parasites target the gastrointestinal tract in different types of hosts, causing sores in the intestinal lining. The presence of these lesions reduces the animal’s ability to digest and absorb nutrients, significantly impacting their overall performance. The current study aimed to explore the potential correlation between seasonal variations and the incidence of Eimeria spp-induced lesions in broiler chickens’ gastrointestinal tracts in Brazil from 2012 to 2018. A total of 8,607 broiler chickens, aged 14 to 42 days, were sampled from 103 poultry integrated companies in Brazil to conduct intestinal health examinations. The sampling process involved selecting 3 to 6 chickens from each poultry house for examination. The assessment included various abnormalities such as shedding of intestinal cells and excessive fluid and mucus presence, thickening and tension of the intestines, food movement, roughened mucosal surface resembling a Turkish towel in the small intestine, tissue death, duodenal inflammation, intestinal inflammation, gizzard erosion, presence of worms and bedding material, and ingestion of mealworms. During the seasons, winter exhibited the highest average occurrence of Eimeria maxima microorganisms at 52.83%, with E. acervulina following closely at 26.42% in second place. In spring, E. maxima had an occurrence of 11.31%, while in fall, E. tenella had the lowest occurrence at 6.74%. When analyzing the seasonal occurrence of Eimeria, it was observed that E. maxima micro was more common during winter compared to summer (P = 0.0491). However, no discernible variation was observed in the occurrence of the remaining species across different seasons. Research findings suggest that subclinical coccidiosis is most prevalent during the winter season in Brazil. Likewise, clinical disease caused by E. acervulina is also prevalent during this time. I
