Tectonically asymmetric Earth:From net rotation to polarized westward drift of the lithosphere

The possibility of a net rotation of the lithosphere with respect to the mantle is generally overlooked since it depends on the adopted mantle reference frames, which are arbitrary. We review the geological and geophysical signatures of plate boundaries, and show that they are markedly asymmetric worldwide. Then we compare available reference frames of plate motions relative to the mantle and discuss which is at best able to fit global tectonic data. Different assumptions about the depths of hotspot sources （below or within the asthenosphere, which decouples the lithosphere from the deep mantle） predict different rates of net rotation of the lithosphere relative to the mantle. The widely used no-net-rotation （NNR） reference frame, and low （〈0.2°-0.4°/ma） net rotation rates （deep hotspots source） predict an average net rotation in which some plates move eastward relative to the mantle （e.g., Nazca）. With fast （〉1°/ma） net rotation （shallow hotspots source）, all plates, albeit at different velocity, move westerly along a curved trajectory, with a tectonic equator tilted about 30° relative to the geographic equator. This is consistent with the observed global tectonic asymmetries.

Motion-driven electromagnetictriboelectric energy generators(E-TENGs) hold a Hybrid triboelectric-electromagnetic generators C A Bgreat potential to provide higher voltages,higher currents and wider operating bandwidths than Cantilever generators1 μm both electromagnetic and triboelectric generators Rotating generatorsSliding generators standing alone. Therefore,they are promising solutions to autonomously supply a broad range of Flexible blade generators magnetoelectric highly sophisticated devices. This paper provides generators a thorough review focused on major recent breakLinear generators Multidimensional generators throughs in the area of electromagnetic-triboelectric vibrational energy harvesting. A detailed Pendulum generators analysis was conducted on various architectures including rotational,pendulum,linear,sliding,cantilever,flexible blade,multidimensional and 1 cm magnetoelectric,and the following hybrid technologies. They enable highly e cient ways to harvest electric energy from many forms of vibrational,rotational,biomechanical,wave,wind and thermal sources,among others. Open-circuit voltages up to 75 V,short-circuit currents up to 60 ma and instantaneous power up to 144 mW were already achieved by these nanogenerators. Their transduction mechanisms,including proposed models to make intelligible the involved physical phenomena,are also overviewed here. A comprehensive analysis was performed to compare their respective construction designs,external excitations and electric outputs. The results highlight the potential of hybrid E-TENGs to convert unused mechanical motion into electric energy for both large-and small-scale ***,this paper proposes future research directions toward optimization of energy conversion e ciency,power management,durability and stability,packaging,energy storage,operation input,research of transduction mechanisms,quantitative standardization,system integration,miniaturization and multi-energy hybrid cells.

The accurate forecast of the photovoltaic generation(PVG)process is essential to develop optimum installation sizing and pragmatic energy planning and *** paper proposes a PVG forecast model for a PVG/Battery *** forecasting strategy is built on a Medium-Term Energy Forecasting(MTEF)approach refined dynamically every hour(Dynamic Medium-Term Energy Forecasting(DMTEF))and adjusted by means of a Short-Term Energy Forecasting(STEF)*** MTEF predicts the generated energy for a day ahead based on the PVG of the last 15 *** for STEF,it is a combination between PVG Short-Term(ST)forecasting and DMTEF methods obtained by selecting the least inaccurate PVG estimation every 15 *** algorithm results are validated by measures taken on a 3 KWp standalone PVG/Battery *** proposed approaches have been integrated into a management algorithm in order to make a pragmatic decision to ensure load supply considering relevant constraints and priorities and guarantee the battery *** results show that STEF provides accurate results compared to measures in stable and perturbed *** NMBE(Normalized Mean Bias Error)is equal to-0.58%in stable days and 26.10%in perturbed days.

In the present study,a plasma-electrochemical method was demonstrated for the synthesis of europium doped ceria ***(NO3)3· 6H2O and Eu(NO3)3·5H2O were used as the starting materials and being dissolved in the distilled water as the electrolyte *** plasma-liquid interaction process was in-situ investigated by an optical emission spectroscopy,and the obtained products were characterized by complementary analytical *** showed that crystalline cubic CeO2:Eu3+ nanoparticles were successfully obtained,with a particle size in the range from 30 to 60 *** crystal structure didn't change during the calcination at a temperature from 400℃ to 1000℃,with the average erystallite size being estimated to be 52 nm at 1000℃.Eu3+ ions were shown to be effectively and uniformly doped into the CeO2 *** a result,the obtained nanophosphors emit apparent red color under the UV irradiation,which can be easily observed by naked *** photoluminescence spectrum further proves the downshift behavior of the obtained products,where characteristic 5Do → 7F1,2,3 transitions of Eu3+ ions had been *** to the simple,flexible and environmental friendly process,this plasma-electrochemical method should have great potential for the synthesis of a series of nanophosphors,especially for bio-application purpose.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the leading cause of chronic liver disease in the western world(1).Currently,the global prevalence of NAFLD is estimated at 30%and is notably higher in South America and the Middle East(1).NAFLD prevalence has been rising during the last decades,and cases of decompensated NAFLD cirrhosis could increase by 168%in 2030(Figure 1A)(2).These trends are probably explained by several factors including the decrease in viral hepatitis incidence and the increasing prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)among the general population(2).

Few layer graphene （FLG）, multi-walled carbon nanotubes （CNTs） and a nanotube-graphene composite （CNT-FLG） were used as supports for palladium nanoparticles. The catalysts, which were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction, were used as anodes in the electrooxidation of ethanol, ethylene glycol and glycerol in half cells and in passive direct ethanol fuel cells. Upon Pd deposition, a stronger interaction was found to occur between the metal and the nanotube-graphene composite and the particle size was significantly smaller in this material （6.3 nm）, comparing with nanotubes and graphene alone （8 and 8.4 nm, respectively）. Cyclic voltammetry experiments conducted with Pd/CNT, Pd/FLG and Pd/CNT-FLG in 10 wt% ethanol and 2 M KOH solution, showed high specific currents of 1.48, 2.29 and 2.51 ma-/zgp-d, respectively. Moreover, the results obtained for ethylene glycol and glycerol oxidation highlighted the excellent electrocatalytic activity of Pd/CNT-FLG in terms of peak current density （up to 3.70 magd for ethylene glycol and 1.84 mafor glycerol, respectively）. Accordingly, Pd/CNT-FLG can be considered as the best performing one among the electrocatalysts ever reported for ethylene glycol oxidation, especially considering the low metal loading used in this work. Direct ethanol fuel cells at room temperature were studied by obtaining power density curves and undertaking galvanostatic experiments. The power density outputs using Pd/CNT, Pd/FLG and Pd/CNT-FLG were 12.1, 16.3 and 18.4 ***-2, respectively. A remarkable activity for ethanol electrooxidation was shown by Pd/CNT-FLG anode catalyst. In a constant current experiment, the direct ethanol fuel cell containing Pd/CNT-FLG could continuously deliver 20 ***-2 for 9.5 h during the conversion of ethanol into acetate of 30%, and the energy released from the cell was about 574 J.
