Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Novel Salt-Tolerant rice Germplasms from the Philippines and Bangladesh

To screen for new sources of salinity tolerance, 688 traditional rice varieties from the Philippines and Bangladesh were obtained, and their tolerance to hypersaline conditions at the seedling stage was examined. A total of 29 Philippine lines and 15 Bangladeshi lines were scored as *** assessment(plant height, biomass and Na-K ratio) revealed that among the 44 salt-tolerant accessions, Casibon, Kalagnon and Ikogan had significantly higher relative shoot length difference, relative shoot growth reduction and shoot Na-K ratio than the tolerant check ***, AC and Akundo exhibited significantly higher Na-K ratios than the other genotypes. The genetic diversity of the 44 genotypes was assessed using 34 simple sequence repeat markers. A total of 133 alleles were detected across all loci. Cluster analysis showed that AC, Akundo and Kuplod were clustered along with fL478, indicating a strong genetic relatedness between these genotypes. Ir29(susceptible check) was singly separated. The haplotype analysis revealed that none of the 44 genotypes had a similar allele combination as fL478. These accessions are of interest since each genotype might be different from the classical salinity-tolerant Pokkali.

In this work Gd/La@ZnO nanoflower photocatalyst was successfully synthesized by a co-precipitation method and applied for rhodamine B(rh B) and tetracycline(TCN) degradation under direct sunlight *** doping of rare earth elements extends the optical absorption wavelength of ZnO from UV region(390 nm) to visible-light region(401 nm).In addition,the co-doped ZnO nanoflower exhibits a lower charge recombination efficiency which was confirmed by photoluminescence emission ***,the co-doped ZnO nanoflower exhibits the maximum degradation efficiency of 91% for rh B and 74% for TCN under sunlight *** calculated synergistic index of co-doped ZnO is higher than that of the pure *** radicals’ production was confirmed by terephthalic acid(TA) and nitro-blue tetrazolium(NBT) *** holes and hydroxyl(·OH) radicals play the major role in degradation reaction and it was confirmed by scavenger’s ***,the recycling test confirms the stability of the photocatalyst.

The phase transformation and magnetic hysteresis properties of melt-spun fe41 Pd41 B8 Si6 P4 ribbons subjected to the annealing at temperatures of 500-550℃were studied after holding for 0.1-60.0 h by transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XrD)and thermomagnetic *** additions of P,B and Si to the fePd alloy allowed us to achieve the coercivity of124 kA·m-1,which is 2.6 times higher than that of the melt-spun ribbons of the binary equiatomic fePd *** high-coercivity fe41Pd41B8 Si6 P4 alloy is nanocrystalline and is composed of the ordered L10-phase grains approximately 40 nm in size and inclusions of the fe2(P,B)and Pd2(Si,B)*** coercivity kinetics is controlled by the phase transformation which can be divided into three stages:transformation from the bcc structure to nanosized regions of the fee and fe2 P phases;transformation from the fee to L10 nanosized regions with somewhat different degrees of tetragonality and their ordering;and extensive growth of the weight fraction of L10 phase from the fee nanosized regions.P and B atoms occupy interstitial sites in the iron plane of L10 lattice,thus decreasing its Curie temperature(TC).

A new bimetallic complex containing Zn and La was prepared from a salen ligand possessing methoxyl groups at the 3, 3′-positions. The structural feature is that one of nitrate groups is disordered and displaced between two metal centers. Crystal system: Triclinic space group:P-1, Z=2. a=0.82714(17) nm, b=1.3484(3) (1) nm, and c=1 3898(3) (1) nm, α=79.89(3)°, β=76.67(3)°, and γ=72.43(3)°. V=1 428 6(5) nm3, Dx=1.812 g·cm-3. (Δρ)max=1 510×10-3 enm3, (Δρ)min=-1.503×10-3 enm3. Accordingly, two water molecules occupy the metal centers in the apical positions via the syn-geometry.

Spectral Model for Soybean Yield Estimate Using MODIS/EVI Data

Attaining reliable and timely agricultural estimates is very important everywhere, and in Brazil, due to its characteristics, this is especially true. In this study, estimations of crop production were made based on the temporal profiles of the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) obtained from Moderate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) images. The objective was to evaluate the coupled model (CM) performance of crop area and crop yield estimates based solely on MODIS/EVI as input data in rio Grande do Sul State, which is characterized by high variability in seasonal soybean yields, due to different crop development conditions. The resulting production estimates from CM were compared to official agricultural statistics of Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the National Company of food Supply (CONAB) at different levels from 2000/2001 to 2010/2011 crop years. results obtained with CM indicate that its application is able to generate timely production estimates for soybean both at municipality and local levels. Validation estimates with CM at State level obtained r2 = 0.95. Combining all cropping years at municipality level, estimates were highly correlated to official statistics from IBGE, with r2 = 0.91 and rMSD = 10,840 tons. Spatially interpolated comparisons of yield maps obtained from the CM estimates and IBGE data also showed visual similarity in their spatial distribution. Local level comparisons were performed and presented r2 = 0.95. Implications of this work point out that time-series analysis of production estimates are able to provide anticipated spatial information prior to the soybean harvest.
