The wheel loads of heavy trucks are the major source of pavement damage,given the repeated loadings imposed by them due to transient events and surface *** related studies focus on steady-state context regarding simplified vehicle’s parameters and ideal pavement conditions,this paper aims to analyze the vertical load applied to the pavement by considering cornering maneuver as a transient event,on a battery electric vehicle *** this concern,measurements were performed on a rigid truck,with two steering front axles,in a closed course proving *** relationship has been presented between vehicle’s speed,lateral acceleration and transferred vertical load for a given curve radius of 85.6 m and 3.7°of transversal *** measurements results indicated that for every 10 km/h increasing on the vehicle’s speed,additional 110 kgf will be transferred to the pavement on the outer side of the cornering *** value itself could not be considered high,but it will be also added to the static load,or overload in some truck applications.

The aim of this paper is to study the disaccharidase profile in GD （Gaucher disease） patients treated or not with miglustat and compare it with a healthy control group. Miglustat is an iminosugar used as substrate inhibitor in the therapy of some lysosomal disorders, its main side effects resembling carbohydrate maldigestion symptoms and cause more than 50% of medication discontinuation among GD patients. In-vitro studies have revealed that miglustat can act as an inhibitor of some digestive enzymes. An exploratory non-interventional study was designed to compare the disaccharidase profile assessed by MHBT （methane hydrogen breath test） and to analyze the correlation with the reported gastrointestinal symptoms in GD patients （40） and healthy subjects （20）. MHBT was performed following the ingestion of lactose, sucrose and maltose on different days. Each participant completed two detailed surveys about dietary habits, medications and gastrointestinal symptoms previous and during the test. Twenty-one GD were receiving miglustat, 10 （47.6%） of them reported gastrointestinal side effects, and 7/10 （70%） recorded a positive MHBT （lactose 5, maltose 2, and sucrose 1）. In 6/19 （31.6%） patients that never been exposed to miglustat and 7/20 （35%） controls a positive MHBT were detected. The comparison of the malabsorption phenotype between GD patients exposed and not exposed to miglustat （p = 0.028） and control group （p 〈 0.04） showed high statistical significance for the group of patients treated with miglustat. These results suggest that miglustat therapy induces persistent changes in digestive enzyme activity in GD patients.

Landslides are highly dangerous phenomena that occur in different parts of the world and pose significant threats to human populations. Intense rainfall events are the main triggering process for landslides in urbanized slope regions, especially those considered high-risk areas. Various other factors contribute to the process;thus, it is essential to analyze the causes of such incidents in all possible ways. Soil moisture plays a critical role in the Earth’s surface-atmosphere interaction systems;hence, measurements and their estimations are crucial for understanding all processes involved in the water balance, especially those related to landslides. Soil moisture can be estimated from in-situ measurements using different sensors and techniques, satellite remote sensing, hydrological modeling, and indicators to index moisture conditions. Antecedent soil moisture can significantly impact runoff for the same rainfall event in a watershed. The Antecedent Precipitation Index (API) or “retained rainfall,” along with the antecedent moisture condition from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, is generally applied to estimate runoff in watersheds where data is limited or unavailable. This work aims to explore API in estimating soil moisture and establish thresholds based on landslide occurrences. The estimated soil moisture will be compared and calibrated using measurements obtained through multisensor capacitance probes installed in a high-risk area located in the mountainous region of Campos do Jordão municipality, São Paulo, Brazil. The API used in the calculation has been modified, where the recession coefficient depends on air temperature variability as well as the climatological mean temperature, which can be considered as losses in the water balance due to evapotranspiration. Once the API is calibrated, it will be used to extrapolate to the entire watershed and consequently estimate soil moisture. By utilizing recorded mass movements and comparing them with AP

Brazil annually faces significant challenges with mass movements, particularly in areas with poorly constructed housing, inadequate engineering, and lacking sanitation infrastructure. Campos do Jordão, in São Paulo state, is a city currently grappling with these issues. This paper details a study conducted within a pilot area in Campos do Jordão, where geophysical surveys and geotechnical borehole data were integrated. The geophysical surveys provided 2D profiles, and samples were collected to analyse soil moisture and plasticity. These datasets were combined using a Cokriging-based model to produce an accurate representation of the subsurface conditions. The enhanced modelling of subsurface variability facilitates a deeper understanding of soil behavior, which can be used to improve landslide risk assessments. This approach is innovative, particularly within the international context where similar studies often do not address the complexities associated with urban planning deficits such as those observed in some areas of Brazil. These conditions, including the lack of proper sanitation and irregular housing, significantly influence the geological stability of the region, adding layers of complexity to subsurface assessments. Adapting geotechnical evaluation methods to local challenges offers the potential to increase the efficacy and relevance of geological risk management in regions with similar socio-economic and urban characteristics.

A significant portion of Landslide Early Warning Systems (LEWS) relies on the definition of operational thresholds and the monitoring of cumulative rainfall for alert issuance. These thresholds can be obtained in various ways, but most often they are based on previous landslide data. This approach introduces several limitations. For instance, there is a requirement for the location to have been previously monitored in some way to have this type of information recorded. Another significant limitation is the need for information regarding the location and timing of incidents. Despite the current ease of obtaining location information (GPS, drone images, etc.), the timing of the event remains challenging to ascertain for a considerable portion of landslide data. Concerning rainfall monitoring, there are multiple ways to consider it, for instance, examining accumulations over various intervals (1 h, 6 h, 24 h, 72 h), as well as in the calculation of effective rainfall, which represents the precipitation that actually infiltrates the soil. However, in the vast majority of cases, both the thresholds and the rain monitoring approach are defined manually and subjectively, relying on the operators’ experience. This makes the process labor-intensive and time-consuming, hindering the establishment of a truly standardized and rapidly scalable methodology on a large scale. In this work, we propose a Landslides Early Warning System (LEWS) based on the concept of rainfall half-life and the determination of thresholds using Cluster Analysis and data inversion. The system is designed to be applied in extensive monitoring networks, such as the one utilized by Cemaden, Brazil’s National Center for Monitoring and Early Warning of Natural Disasters.

BACKGROUND Breast milk is the primary source of nutrition for *** babies frequently need nutritional support from Human Milk *** bacterial species of the genus Enterococcus are part of the microbiota of healthy donors,they may contaminate samples of pumped breast *** To identify and characterize the bacterial virulence and resistance in samples isolated from the nipple-areolar region,hands,and breast milk aliquots from donors at the Human Milk Bank of Municipal Hospital EsauMatos in the city of Vitória da Conquista,Bahia State,*** The personal hygiene and sanitation of donors were analyzed with the aim of identifying possible reasons for contamination of pumped *** samples as well as aliquots of unpasteurized and pasteurized milk from 30 participants were *** Enterococcus *** underwent a disk diffusion susceptibility test and molecular biology techniques to determine resistance and virulence *** Enterococcus *** identified in 30%of donors(n=9),and 11 specimens were *** to tetracycline was highly prevalent,being detectable in 63%of the isolates(n=7)and followed by intermediate sensitivity to ciprofloxacin,observed in 27%of the specimens(n=3).The efaA gene was found in 63%(n=7)of the isolates,while the ace gene was detected in 27%(n=3).CONCLUSION This study illustrates the importance of microbiological monitoring by Human Milk Banks and the need for alternatives to prevent the presence of Enterococcus *** hospital settings.

Several substations in operation were commissioned decades *** substations are overstressed,then their protection equipment cannot provide an effective safety condition to the *** the worst cases,short‐circuits can cause permanent damage to the system if the overcurrent is higher than the capacity of the installed *** are some possible solutions for those cases:replace all the equipment in the overstressed substation,build a new one in parallel or install a fault current limiter(FCL)*** an economic point of view,introducing FCLs in the power system is the best way to solve the described *** commercial solutions available are the pyrotechnic FCL,air coil reactor,neutral earthing resistor,and high impedance ***,these devices are limited and present several *** the’70s,there has been a search for reliable FCL devices that do not interfere in the regular operation of substations and could limit the fault currents to the protection system rated *** were so many FCL technologies proposed in the last *** proposed new devices may use superconducting technologies,power electronics,or *** paper reviews proven FCL technologies,focusing on full‐scale devices demonstrated in field and lab *** goal is to introduce the main FCL technologies in development and discuss didactically their operation principle,the built prototypes,the commercial units,whether they exist,and the main drawbacks for each technology presented.A final analysis of the level of maturity for each FCL technology is discussed using the TRL(Technology readiness level)scale in order to find technologies with more potential for mass *** three technologies closer to the full commercial application are:the Resistive Superconducting FCL,the Saturated Iron Core FCL,and the Series Reactor FCL.

Background： This study evaluated the impact of hormonal modulation at the onset of proestrus on ovarian response and uterine gene expression of beef ***： A total of 172 anestrous beef cows were assigned to one of four groups according to the treatment with estradiol cypionate（ECP） and/or equine chorionic gonadotropin（eCG） [CON（n = 43）, ECP（n = 43）, eCG（n = 44）and ECP ＋ eCG（n = 42）].Results： ECP-treated cows（ECP and ECP ＋ eCG groups） presented greater occurrence of estrus（44.6% vs. 65.4%; P = 0.01） and pregnancy per AI [47.1% vs. 33.3%; P = 0.07], but similar progesterone（P4） concentration at subsequent diestrus than cows not treated with ECP（CON and eCG groups）. Nonetheless, eCG-treated cows（eCG and ECP ＋ eCG groups） presented larger follicle at timed AI（12.6 ± 0.3 vs. 13.5 ± 0.3 mm; P = 0.03）, greater ovulation rate（96.5%vs. 82.6%; P = 0.008） and greater P4 concentration at d 6（3.9 ± 0.2 vs. 4.8 ± 0.2 ng/mL; P = 0.001） than cows not treated with eCG（CON and ECP groups）. Next, cows with a new corpus luteum 6 d after TAI were submitted to uterine biopsy procedure. Uterine fragments [CON（n = 6）, ECP（n = 6）] were analyzed by RNA-Seq and a total of 135 transcripts were differentially expressed between groups（73 genes up-regulated by ECP treatment）. Subsequently,uterine samples were analyzed by q PCR（genes associated with cell proliferation）. ECP treatment induced greater abundance of PTCH2（P = 0.07） and COL4 A1（P = 0.02）, whereas suppressed EGFR（P = 0.09） expression. Conversely, eCG treatment increased abundance of HB-EGF（P = 0.06）, ESR2（P = 0.09）, and ITGB3（P = 0.05）, whereas it reduced transcription of ESR1（P = 0.05）. Collectively, supplementation with ECP or eCG at the onset of proestrous of anestrous beef cows influenced ovarian responses, global and specific endometrial gene ***： Proestrus estradiol regulate the endometrial transcriptome, particularly stimulating proliferative activity in the endometrium.

Correlation between Rainfall and Mass Movements in North Coast Region of Sao Paulo State, Brazil for 2014-2018

The monitoring of related hourly and accumulated rainfall index requires that critical thresholds of accumulated 72 hours rainfall are updated frequently according with the factors and local conditions (natural and anthropic) of each specific risk area. The importance of empirical methods is fundamental to confirm the relationship between rainfall intensity and accumulated rainfall with the mass movement events, in order to establish the critical threshold values. The present work performs an evaluation of the record data of mass movement events occurred in Sao Paulo State North coast region for a 4-year period (2014 to 2018) considering different mass movement characteristics (slope type, magnitude and impact level). Some rainfall values were obtained to show that within these parameters an event related to natural and anthropic features was triggered. A database was created, sorting source of information and municipalities monitored, to implement the correlation between the mass movement events and the rainfall values. To elaborate the event’s map, reliable record data of localization of the mass movement events was selected, as well as the nearest possible raingauges of CEMADEN (National Center for Monitoring and Early Warning of Natural Disasters);also the exact event triggering time, selection by the slope type, the magnitude and the impact level of the mass movement event. The rainfall values of these raingauges allowed the calculation of the accumulated rainfall index for 1, 3, 6, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours, with the adoption of the 72 hours index for this work. The correlation graphics are divided by the slope type, the magnitude and the impact level of the mass movement event. Different critical thresholds appear, classifying such event by the influence level of triggering factors, natural and/or anthropic.
