strigula sensu lato has been previously defined based on phenotype characters as a rather broad genus including tropical to temperate species growing on a wide array of *** this study,based on a multilocus phylogenetic approach,we show that foliicolous species form six well-delimited clades that correlate with diagnostic phenotype features,including thallus morphology,carbonization of the involucrellum and excipulum,ascospore dimensions,and type of *** the topology,with five of the six clades emerging on long stem branches,and the strong phenotypical differentiation between the clades,we recognize these at the genus level,making mostly use of previously established genus *** genera,namely Phylloporis,Puiggariella,Raciborskiella,and Racoplaca,are resurrected for the ***,***,***,and *** groups,respectively,whereas one new genus,serusiauxiella ***.,is introduced for a novel lineage with peculiar *** only sequenced non-foliicolous species,***,is not closely related to these six foliicolous lineages but clusters with Flavobathelium and Phyllobathelium,revealing it as an additional undescribed genus-level lineage being treated *** the new genus serusiauxiella,three new species are described:serusiauxiella filifera ***.,*** ***.,and *** *** addition,ten new combinations are proposed:Phylloporis austropunctata ***.,*** ***.,*** ***.,Puiggariella confluens *** ***.,*** ***.,*** ***.,Racoplaca maculata ***.,*** ***.,***,and *** *** also report on a peculiar,previously unrecognized growth behaviour of the macroconidial appendages in strigula ***.

Data gaps and biases are two important issues that affect the quality of biodiversity information and downstream *** how best to fill existing gaps and account for biases is necessary to improve our current information most *** current main approaches for obtaining and improving data include(1)curation of biological collections,and(2)***,the comparative effectiveness of these approaches in improving biodiversity data remains little *** used the Flora de Bogota project to study the magnitude of change in species richness,spatial coverage,and sample coverage of plant records based on curation versus *** process of curation resulted in a decrease in species richness(synonym and error removal),but it significantly increased the number of records per *** contributed to a slight increase in species richness,via accumulation of new ***,curation led to increases in spatial coverage,species observed by locality,the number of plant records by species,and localities by species compared to ***,curationwas more efficient in producing new information compared to fieldwork,mainly because of the large number of records available in *** recommend intensive curatorial work as the first step in increasing biodiversity data quality and quantity,to identify bias and gaps at the regional scale that can then be targeted with *** stepwise strategy would enable fieldwork to be planned more costeffectively given the limited resources for biodiversity exploration and characterization.

A prototype for on-site generation of chlorinated disinfectant for use in rural aqueducts

sodium hypochlorite has significant potential as a sanitation solution in hard-to-reach *** studies have investigated the optimal electrolysis parameters for its production with volumes greater than 1o *** study evaluated sodium hypochlorite production through electrolysis in a 22-L prototype and identified the optimal operating *** were performed using graphite electrodes with areas of 68.4 cm^(2) at the laboratory scale and 1865.0 cm^(2) at the prototype scale.A design for experiments with different operating times,chloride concentrations,and electric current intensities was *** optimal operating time,sodium chloride concentration,and current intensity at the laboratory scale were 120 min,150 g of chloride per liter,and 3 A,respectively,leading to the production of 5.02 g/L of the disinfectant with an energy efficiency of 12.21 mg of cl_(2) per *** the prototype scale,the maximum sodium hypochlorite concentration of 3.99 g of chloride per liter was achieved with an operating time of 120 min,a sodium chloride concentration of 100 g of chloride per liter,and a current intensity of 70 A,reaching an energy efficiency of 42.56 mg of cl_(2) per *** addition,this study evaluated the influences of the chloride concentration,current intensity,and operating time on the production of sodium hypochlorite at the two scales,and formulated the equations showing the trends of sodium hypochlorite production and energy efficiency in the electrochemical *** 22-L prototype model for production of this oxidizing substance is promising for disinfection of large volumes of water in areas that are difficult to access.

Nonlinear wave dispersion in monoatomic chains with lumped and distributed masses:discrete and continuum models

The main objective of this paper is to investigate the influence of inertia of nonlinear springs on the dispersion behavior of discrete monoatomic chains with lumped and distributed *** developed model can represent the wave propagation problem in a non-homogeneous material consisting of heavy inclusions embedded in a *** inclusions are idealized by lumped masses,and the matrix between adjacent inclusions is modeled by a nonlinear spring with distributed ***,the model is capable of depicting the wave propagation in bi-material bars,wherein the first material is represented by a rigid particle and the.s.cond one is represented by a nonlinear spring with distributed *** discrete model of the nonlinear monoatomic chain with lumped and distributed masses is first considered,and a closed-form expression of the dispersion relation is obtained by the.s.cond-order Lindstedt-Poincare method(LPM).Next,a continuum model for the nonlinear monoatomic chain is derived directly from its discrete lattice model by a suitable continualization *** subsequent use of the.s.cond-order method of multiple scales(MMs)facilitates the derivation of the corresponding nonlinear dispersion relation in a closed *** novelties of the present study consist of(i)considering the inertia of nonlinear springs on the dispersion behavior of the discrete mass-spring chains;(ii)developing the.s.cond-order LPM for the wave propagation in the discrete chains;and(iii)deriving a continuum model for the nonlinear monoatomic chains with lumped and distributed ***,a parametric study is conducted to examine the effects of the design parameters and the distributed spring mass on the nonlinear dispersion relations and phase velocities obtained from both the discrete and continuum *** parameters include the ratio of the spring mass to the lumped mass,the nonlinear stiffne.s.coefficient of the spring,and the wave amplitude.

Antarctic Peninsula is experiencing one of the largest global warming events *** water bodies generated by the melting of snow in summer are numerous,and they might act as sentinels of climate change due to their rapid response and ability to integrate catchment *** in climate can influence the structure of microbial communities which dominate these freshwaters ***,we characterize three ponds at cierva Point(Antarctic Peninsula)by examining their physico-chemical and morphological characteristics and we explored how different factors modify the structure of the microbial *** studied the abundance and biomass of heterotrophic bacteria,picocyanobacteria and picoeukaryote algae during January and February of two consecutive summers(2017 and 2018).We found that ponds had different limnological characteristics,due to their location,geomorphological features and presence of the surrounding flora and ***-chemical parameters as well as microbial community differed between ponds,months and *** 2017,most ponds were oligo to mesotrophic *** larger accumulated rainfall(as a result of environmental changes on the Antarctic Peninsula)during 2018,particularly in February,causes nutrient runoff into water *** affects those ponds with the highest seabird circulation,such as gentoo penguin,increasing *** a result,picoplanktonic abundances were higher,and the community structure shifts to a largely heterotrophic bacteria dominated *** results suggest that these communities could act as sentinels to environmental changes,anticipating a future with mostly hypertrophic ponds.

KLnF_(4):Yb^(3+),er^(3+)/Ho^(3+)(Ln=Y,Yb,Gd)phosphors were prepared by solid-state reaction *** each of the Yb^(3+)/er^(3+)and Yb^(3+)/Ho^(3+)co-doped phosphors independently,phase confirmation and morphological examination were accomplished using the X-ray diffraction technique and scanning electron microscope analysis.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis shows the charge state and existence of lanthanides and *** luminescence emissions of green and red colour were detected for the synthesized *** changes in the upconverted emission intensities and colour output pertaining to the change of the lanthanide host matrix along with dopants were investigated for the prepared *** the upconversion luminescence,erbium-doped samples exhibit a predominance of red emission while holmium-doped samples display a prevalence of green *** rare-earth er/Ho doped KYbF4shows strong red emission compared to other ***_(4):Yb,er/Ho exhibits relatively significant green upconve rsion emissions,while Yb,er-doped KGdF_(4)host displays a 10-fold increase in green/red emission ratio with an increase in the input power of 20-780 *** photoluminescence studies and decay curve analysis were carried out using UV light excitation for the developed phosphors.A higher lifetime of 2.2 ms was measured for the downshifting red emission in the Ho doped KYbF_(4)*** study suggests a potential for colour tunability in the upconversion and downshifting emissions through host modifications to the fluoride phosphor.

High-saturated fat(HF)or high-fructose(HFr)consumption in children predispose them to metabolic syndrome(Mets).In rodent models of Mets,die.s.containing individually HF or HFr lead to a variable degree of ***,simultaneous intake of HF plus HFr have synergistic effects,worsening Mets *** children,the effects of HF or HFr intake usually have been addressed ***,we have reviewed the outcomes of HF or HFr diets in children,and we compare them with the effects reported in *** humans,HFr intake causes increased lipogenesis,hypertriglyceridemia,obesity and insulin *** the other hand,HF diets promote low grade-inflammation,obesity,insulin *** the deleterious effects of simultaneous HF plus HFr intake on Mets development in rodents,there is little information about the combined effects of HF plus HFr intake in *** aim of this review is to warn about this issue,as individually addressing the effects produced by HF or HFr may underestimate the severity of the outcomes of Western diet intake in the pediatric *** consider that this is an alarming issue that needs to be assessed,as the simultaneous intake of HF plus HFr is common on fast food menus.
