Fungal cell-wall-degrading enzymes have great utility in the agricultural and food *** cell-wall-degrading enzymes are known to have functions that can help defend against pathogenic *** existing methods used to discover these enzymes are not well adapted to fungi culture and morphology,which prevents the proper evaluation of these *** report the first droplet-based microfluidic method capable of long-term incubation and low-voltage conditions to sort filamentous fungi inside nanoliter-sized *** new method was characterized and validated in solid-phase media based on colloidal chitin such that the incubation of single spores in droplets was possible over multiple days(2–4 days)and could be sorted without droplet *** long-term culture,we examined the activity of cell-wall-degrading enzymes produced by fungi during solid-state droplet fermentation using three highly sensitive fluorescein-based *** also used the low-voltage droplet sorter to select clones with highly active cell-wall-degrading enzymes,such as chitinases,β-glucanases,and β-Nacetylgalactosaminidases,from a filamentous fungi droplet library that had been incubated for>4 *** new system is portable,affordable for any laboratory,and user-friendly compared to classical droplet-based microfluidic *** propose that this system will be useful for the growing number of scientists interested in fungal microbiology who are seeking high-throughput methods to incubate and sort a large library of fungal cells.

This short review examines the most recent functional studies of the topographic organization of the human corpus callosum, the main interhemispheric commissure. After a brief description of its anatomy, development, microstructure, and function, it examines and discusses the latest findings obtained using diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) and tractography(DTT) and functional magnetic resonance imaging(f MRI), three recently developed imaging techniques that have significantly expanded and refined our knowledge of the commissure. While DTI and DTT have been providing insights into its microstructure, integrity and level of myelination, f MRI has been the key technique in documenting the activation of white matter fibers, particularly in the corpus callosum. By combining DTT and f MRI it has been possible to describe the trajectory of the callosal fibers interconnecting the primary olfactory, gustatory, motor, somatic sensory, auditory and visual cortices at sites where the activation elicited by peripheral stimulation was detected by fMRI. These studies have demonstrated the presence of callosal fiber tracts that cross the commissure at the level of the genu, body, and splenium, at sites showing f MRI activation. Altogether such findings lend further support to the notion that the corpus callosum displays a functional topographic organization that can be explored with f MRI.

Ketamine anesthesia reduces intestinal ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats

AIM: To investigate the effects of ketamine anesthesia on the motility alterations and tissue injury caused by ischemia/reperfusion in rats. METHODS: Thirty male Wistar rats weighing 200-250 g were used. Ischemia was induced by ob-structing blood flow in 25% of the total small intesti-nal length (ileum) with a vascular clamp for 45 min, after which either 60 min or 24 h of reperfusion was allowed. Rats were either anesthetized with pento-barbital sodium (50 mg/kg) or ketamine (100 mg/kg). Control groups received sham surgery. After 60 min of reperfusion, the intestine was examined for mor-phological alterations, and after 24 h intestinal basic electrical rhythm (BER) frequency was calculated, and intestinal transit determined in all groups. RESULTS: The intestinal mucosa in rats that were anesthetized with ketamine showed moderate altera-tions such as epithelial lifting, while ulceration and hemorrhage was observed in rats that received pento-barbital sodium after 60 min of reperfusion. Quantita-tive analysis of structural damage using the Chiu scaleshowed significantly less injury in rats that received ketamine than in rats that did not (2.35 ± 1.14 vs 4.58 ± 0.50, P < 0.0001). The distance traveled by a mark-er, expressed as percentage of total intestinal length, in rats that received pentobarbital sodium was 20% ± 2% in comparison with 25.9% ± 1.64% in rats that re-ceived ketamine (P = 0.017). BER was not statistically different between groups. CONCLUSION: Our results show that ketamine anesthesia is associated with diminished intestinal injury and abolishes the intestinal transit delay induced by ischemia/reperfusion.

We present the first evidence of Archean oceanic crust submitted to Proterozoic high-pressure(HP)metamorphism in the South American ***-Nd and Lu-Hf isotopic data combined with U-Pb geochronological data from the Campo Grande area,Rio Grande do Norte domain,in the Northern Borborema Province,reflect a complex Archean(2.9 Ga and 2.6 Ga)and Paleoproterozoic(2.0 Ga)evolution,culminating in the Neoproterozoic Brasiliano/Pan-African orogeny(ca.600 Ma).The preserved mafic rocks contain massive poikiloblastic garnet and granoblastic amphibole with variable proportions of plagioclase+diopside in symplectitic texture,typical of high-pressure *** clinopyroxene-garnet amphibolites and the more common garnet amphibolites from the Campo Grande area are exposed as rare lenses within an Archean migmatite *** amphibolite lenses represent 2.65 Ga juvenile tholeiitic magmatism derived from depleted mantle sources(positive values of+3.81 to+30.66)later enriched by mantle metasomatism(negative εNd(t)values of-7.97).Chondrite and Primitive Mantle-normalized REE of analyzed samples and discriminant diagrams define two different oceanic affinities,with E-MORB and OIB *** Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu*=0.75-0.95)indicate depletion of plagioclase in the *** zircon cores of 3.0-2.9 Ga in analyzed samples indicate that the Neoarchean tholeiitic magmatism was emplaced into 2923±14 Ma old Mesoarchean crust(εNd(t)--2.58 and Nd TDM=3.2 Ga)of the Rio Grande do Norte *** age of retro-eclogite facies metamorphism is not yet completely *** suggest that two high-grade metamorphic events are recognized in the mafic rocks:the first at 2.0 Ga,recorded in some samples,and the second,at ca.600 Ma,stronger and more pervasive and recorded in several of the mafic rock *** Neoproterozoic zircon grains are found in symplectite texture as inclusions in the garnet grains and represent the age of HP conditions in the *** zircon grains show a

The work in this study is focused on the investigation of the structure and properties of ductile cast iron with nanoparticle additives： TiN （titanium nitride）, TiN ＋ TiCN （titanium carbonitride） and cBN （cubic boron nitride）. The nanoparticles are coated with nickel prior to addition to the iron melt to improve their wetting and uniform distribution in the volume of the casting. The metallographic observation and wear test are performed to study the influence of the nanoparticle additives on the microstructure and and cast iron tribological properties.

This work aims to investigate the phenomenon of media activism in the social network of Facebook with organizedreligious groups. The three groups indicated keep the participation system closed and, for this, they need theapproval of the respective administrators. Three groups were chosen, they are： Amor a Nossa Senhora Aparecida eA lgreja Cat61ica, Irmaos Verdadeiros e Abadiania. For the elaboration of this research was used as method thecontent analysis of the posts of the religious groups of Facebook and, through this research, the contents werecategorized and classified according to the approach of each one. The period of analysis was between January 1,2017 andJanuary 15, 2017.

目的:研究非洲民间药物——茜草科植物阔叶乌檀Nauclea latifolia Smith的化学成分。方法:采用硅胶、Sepha-dex LH-20柱色谱等方法分离化合物,根据波谱数据和理化常数确定其结构。结果:从阔叶乌檀甲醇提取物中分离得到12个非生物碱类化合物,其中8个为三萜及其皂苷类,即24-烯-环阿尔廷酮(1),熊果醛(2),奎诺酸(3),铁冬青酸(4),3β,19α,23,24-四羟基乌苏烷三萜(5),pyrocincholic acid 3β-O-β-D-fucopyranoside(6),quinovic acid 3β-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(7),quinovicacid-3β-O-D-glucopyranosyl-(28→1)-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester(8);甾醇类4个,即β-谷甾醇(9),豆甾-3,6-二酮(10),豆甾-4-烯-6β-醇-3-酮(11),胡萝卜苷(12)。结论:除化合物4,9,12外,所有化合物均首次从该植物中分离得到,其中化合物2,6,10,11为首次从乌檀属中分离得到。

Interferon β-1a alone or in combination with ribavirin: A randomized trial to compare efficacy and safety in chronic hepatitis C

AIM： To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant human IFN β-la alone or in combination with ribavirin in treatment-naive subjects with chronic hepatitis C. METHODS： Open, randomized trial was performed in 6 Italian tertiary centers： 102 of the 108 patients screened were randomized to receive 6 MIU of recombinant human IFN β-la subcutaneously daily for 24 wk, alone （Group 1, n = 51） or in combination with ribavirin 1 000 to 1 200 mg/d （Group 2, n = 51）. RESULTS： The end-of-treatment virologic response rate was 29.4% in Group 1 and 41.2% in Group 2 （nonsignificant）. Twenty-four weeks after stopping therapy, sustained virologic response rate was 21.6% in Group 1 and 27.4% in Group 2 （non-significant）. All subjects in Group 1 completed treatment, while two subjects in Group 2 stopped therapy due to treatment-related adverse events. CONCLUSION： Recombinant human IFN β-la, alone or in combination with ribavirin, has an excellent safety profile and, may represent an alternative for chronic hepatitis C patients who are unable to tolerate pegylated α-interferon.
