the reuse of agricultural waste is essential to mitigate environmental pollution ***,this work focused on the valorization of the most extensive olive processing residue,alperujo,in terms of its ability to interfere with the virulence processes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus contaminating food and reference *** activity of alperujo extracts of different polarities on virulence factors producing bacteria,and its relationship with antioxidant capacity and polyphenolic content was comparatively *** results indicated that the polar extracts significantly reduced the biofilm formed by both *** were also able to act against a previously formed biofilm by reducing its biomass and the cells’*** extracts,rich in polyphenolic compounds,exhibited antioxidant capacity and Quorum sensing(QS)inhibitory activity against Chromobacterium ***,they limited the spread of *** by restricting swarming and swimming *** also interfere in other QS controlled phenotypes like elastase and *** antipathogenic ability of the polar extracts could be mainly due to the synergistic effect of several phenolic compounds identified by LC-MS/MS analysis,such as luteolin,vanillic acid hexoside,oleuropein and derivates,quinic acid,apigenin,among *** a result,this study contributes to the developing of sustainable strategies to revalorize a polluting waste into a value-added byproduct that could be used in the food and sanitary industries.

New transcriptomic insights in two RNAi wheat lines with the gliadins strongly down-regulated by two endosperm specific promoters

the gluten proteins of wheat grain are responsible for visco-elastic properties of flour,but they also trigger the immune-response of celiac *** this work,two low-gliadin RNA interference(RNAi)wheat lines that differ for the promoter driving the silencing(D-hordein andγ-gliadin promoters for D783 and D793 lines,respectively),were characterized at transcriptomic,and protein fraction levels in the *** of gliadins provides a readjustment in the grain protein fractions that also affects to the nongluten proteins(NGP),which were increased in both RNAi *** of wheat gluten by means of the R5 monoclonal antibody also showed a strong reduction in the content of gluten in both RNAi ***,fructans,an oligosaccharide linked with the development of non-celiac wheat sensitivity(NCWS)were also significantly decreased in RNAi *** down-regulation of gliadins fractions also impacts to other metabolic processes,particularly on carbohydrate metabolism,enzyme regulator activity and response to *** and transcription factors regulated by ABA were up-regulated,which could suggest the implication of this phytohormone on the stress response observed in the RNAi lines.

Bone infections following open bone fracture or implant surgery remain a challenge in the orthopedics *** order to avoid high doses of systemic drug administration,optimized local antibiotic release from scaffolds is required.3D additive manufactured(AM)scaffolds made with biodegradable polymers are ideal to support bone healing in non-union scenarios and can be given antimicrobial properties by the incorporation of *** this study,ciprofloxacin and gentamicin intercalated in the interlamellar spaces of magnesium aluminum layered double hydroxides(MgAl)andα-zirconium phosphates(ZrP),respectively,are dispersed within a thermoplastic polymer by melt compounding and subsequently processed via high temperature melt extrusion AM(~190◦C)into 3D *** inorganic fillers enable a sustained antibiotics release through the polymer matrix,controlled by antibiotics counterions exchange or pH ***,both antibiotics retain their functionality after the manufacturing process at high temperatures,as verified by their activity against both Gram+and Gram-bacterial ***,scaffolds loaded with filler-antibiotic do not impair human mesenchymal stromal cells osteogenic differentiation,allowing matrix mineralization and the expression of relevant osteogenic ***,these results suggest the possibility of fabricating dual functionality 3D scaffolds via high temperature melt extrusion for bone regeneration and infection prevention.

Identifcation of the Phosphorylated Residues in tveIF5A by Mass Spectrometry

the initiation factor elF5A in trichomonas vaginalis （tvelF5A） is previously shown to undergo hypusination, phosphorylation and glycosylation. three different pI isoforms of tvelF5A have been reported. the most acidic isoform （pI 5.2） corresponds to the precursor tvelF5A, whereas the mature tvelF5A appears to be the most basic isoform （pI 5.5）. In addition, the intermediary isoform （pI 5.3） is found only under polyamine-depleted conditions and restored with exogenous putrescine. We propose that differences in PI are due to phosphorylation of the tvelF5A isoforms. Here, we have identified phosphorylation sites using mass spectrometry. the mature tvelF5A contains four phosphorylated residues （$3, t55, t78 and t82）. Phosphorylation at $3 and t82 is also identified in the intermediary tvelF5A, while no phosphorylated residues are found in the precursor tvelF5A. It has been demonstrated that elF5A proteins from plants and yeast are phosphorylated by a casein kinase 2 （CK2）. Interestingly, a gene encoding a protein highly similar to CK2 （tvCK2） is found in t. vaginalis, which might be involved in the phosphorylation of tvelF5A in t. vaginalis.

temporal dynamics of shallow subtidal meiobenthos from a beach in tenerife (Canary Islands, northeast Atlantic Ocean)

A shallow subtidal （3 m deep） meiofaunal assemblage in Los Abrigos Bay, tenerife, Canary Islands was sam- pled during May 2000-April 2001. the main aims were to （1） find temporal variations in meiofaunal assem- blage structure and overall abundance, as well as in the most abundant meiofaunal species throughout the study period, and （2） identify environmental variables （sedimentary composition, organic matter content, and total nitrogen） that better explain meiofaunal assemblage structure during the study year. the most abundant species were the nematodes Siphonolaimus sp. 2 and Catanema sp., which represented 46.2% of the overall meiofaunal abundances and varied significantly throughout the study duration. Overall meio- faunal abundance and the most abundant taxonomic groups （nematodes, copepods, and oligochaetes） showed significant temporal variations during the study period. Nematodes overwhelmingly dominated during the study period, ranging from 78% in May to 97.34% in February. Multivariate analyses showed seasonality in meiofaunal community structure during the study year, with the lowest abundances in May. Nowadays internationalization is no longer a luxury for companies and becomes a necessity in order to survive in the market and ensure its durability over *** justifies the structure of a internationalization plan(IP)for a small company(SEC),in order to modify its value curve against the competition and guarantee a sustained growth development in new *** paper presents a strategic analysis of a small construction company dedicated to the elaboration of finishes for walls,floors,and concrete architecture.A situational analysis was carried out to see what would be the most appropriate international strategy for the ***,such as:(a)SWOt(strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,threats)Analysis,(b)PESt(political,economic,social,and technological)Analysis,(c)Internal Factors Evaluation Matrix(IFE),and(d)External Factors Evaluation Matrix(EFE Assessment Matrix),were used to identify the current standing of the *** canvas model and the competitive profile matrix were used to make the connection with the strategic position of the SEC against the desire of ***,an analysis of the external factors was carried out showing a significant growth of 4.6%in the specialized sub-sector,as well as a tense business landscape driven by the political situation between Mexico and the United States.

Influence of dissolved organic matter character on mercury incorporation by planktonic organisms: An experimental study using oligotrophic water from Patagonian lakes

Ligands present in dissolved organic matter （DOM） form complexes with inorganic divalent mercury （Hg^2＋） affecting its bioavailability in pelagic food webs. this investigation addresses the influence of a natural gradient of DOM present in Patagonian lakes on the bioaccumulation of Hg^2＋（the prevailing mercury species in the water column of these lakes） by the algae Cryptomonas erosa and the zooplankters Brachionus calyciflorus and Boeckella antiqua. Hg^2＋ accumulation was studied through laboratory experiments using natural water of four oligotrophic Patagonian lakes amended with^197Hg^2＋. the bioavailability of Hg^2＋ was affected by the concentration and character of DOM. the entrance of Hg^2＋ into pelagic food webs occurs mostly through passive and active accumulation. the incorporation of Hg^2＋ by Cryptomonas, up to 27% of the Hg^2＋ amended, was found to be rapid and dominated by passive adsorption, and was greatest when low molecular weight compounds with protein-like or small phenolic signatures prevailed in the DOM. Conversely, high molecular weight compounds with a humic or fulvic signature kept Hg^2＋ in the dissolved phase, resulting in the lowest Hg^2＋ accumulation in this algae. In Brachionus and Boeckella the direct incorporation of Hg from the aqueous phase was up to 3% of the Hg^2＋ amended. the dietary incorporation of Hg^2＋ by Boeckella exceeded the direct absorption of this metal in natural water, and was remar.ably similar to the Hg^2＋ adsorbed in their prey. Overall, DOM concentration and character affected the adsorption of Hg^2＋ by algae through competitive binding, while the incorporation of Hg^2＋ into the zooplankton was dominated by trophic or dietary transfer.

Combination of Interleaved Single-input Multiple-output DC-DC Converters

this paper analyses,simulates and verifies an experimental prototype of a four-phase interleaved DC-DC *** is based on a SEPIC-Cuk *** developed prototype has been used in single-input multiple-output(SIMO)*** combined converter allows obtaining dual output voltages of the same value,from a single input DC voltage and with only a power *** interleaved DC-DC converters achieve a better dynamic response and low ripple,maintaining their *** converter is connected in parallel,thereby managing their losses by distributing them between more components,which facilitates the thermal management of the multiphase converter and allows handling high power values in small sizes with respect to solutions for a single *** control strategies were applied:synchronous operation mode(SOM)and interleaved operation mode(IOM).the simulation results allow the comparison of both operational modes,verifying that the IOM presents advantages with respect to the ripple at the input and output *** experimental prototype was designed for a distributed power architecture and bipolar DC microgrid(MG).

A demand side management approach to increase self-consumption in buildings

there is a growing interest in increasing the presence of renewable energy in the electric *** production from grid-connected systems is leading this growth in terms of *** this development,concern about network security has emerged,because excesses of intermittent renewable energy on the grid could exceed voltage ***-consumption,understood as the capacity of the producer to consume his or her own production,can partially solve these *** controllable loads,such as heating and cooling,represent 50%of the total amount of energy consumed by buildings;the proper allocation of these loads could be a driving force for *** this study,a demand side management strategy is proposed based on a building energy model equipped with an inverter heat pump coupled with a photovoltaic *** goal is to maximize the use of local energy from the photovoltaic plant(self-consumption),reducing the export and import of energy to and from the *** goal is achieved by optimizing the set-points in each *** array of optimal set-points over six years is *** results show the capacity of the methodology to match similar values of self-consumption(70%in winter and 50%in summer)obtained by strategies based on chemical *** findings are shown in an energy matching chart at different levels of detail(yearly and monthly).Color bubbles are added to the matching chart to help visualize the unmatched energy of the system *** comparison with actual model predictive control technologies,this study’s strategy offers great simplicity and a large saving in computational time.
