The nature of organochlorine pesticides (OCP) and their physical-chemical properties exert immediate action of control on live systems, which has justified their use in agricultural practices. Their long life makes them a persistent ecological aggressor and biomagnifier. They reach foods by biotic and abiotic means, and are absorbed and accumulate in adipose tissue. In lactation processes, they are excreted in milk through the mobilization of fats. Diverse studies have identified them as neurotoxic, affecting reproductive processes, altering the immunological response and act as endocrine disruptors. An analysis was made of the content of organochlorine pesticides in twenty-one samples of infant milk formulas marketed in the south of Mexico City in 2010. The determinations were made following the protocols of the International Dairy Federation, by means of gas chromatography with electron capture detector, and the majority presence was found of α-HCH (100%), β-HCH (95.2%), γ-HCH (90.5%), aldrin (85.7%), heptachlor (80.9%) and heptachlor epoxide (80.9%) with mean values of 0.24, 0.13, 0.32, 0.62, 0.92 and 0.18 μg/kg of fat, respectively;all below the limits permitted by the Codex Alimentarius. With null or lower recurrence and in lowerquantities, the family of DDT, endrin, endrin aldehyde and the endosulphanes were quantified.

BACKGROUND The gut microbiota plays a key role in the maintenance of intestinal homeostasis and the development and activation of the host immune system. It has been shown that commensal bacterial species can regulate the expression of host genes. 16 S rRNA gene sequencing has shown that the microbiota in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is abnormal and characterized by reduced diversity. Micro RNAs(miRNAs) have been explored as biomarkers and therapeutic targets, since they are able to regulate specific genes associated with Crohn's disease(CD). Faecal samples of newonset CD patients, free of treatment, and healthy controls were collected. Background:Lung hypoplasia,pulmonary persistent hypertension of the newborn and its morphological changes are the main features in congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH).This study was undertaken to investigate if antenatal use of sildenafil and/or bosentan attenuates vascular remodeling,promotes branching,and improves alveolarization in experimental nitrofeninduced ***:Nitrofen(100 mg)was gavage-fed to pregnant rats at post conception day(PCD)9 to induce *** rats were randomized to 5 groups:1)control;2)nitrofen;3)nitrofen+sildenafil 100 mg/kg per day at PCD 16-20;4)nitrofen+bosentan 30 mg/kg per day,at PCD 16-20,and 5)nitrofen+bosentan+sildenafil,same doses and administration *** cesarean delivery,the offsprings were sacrifi *** diaphragmatic defect and pulmonary hypoplasia were identified,and the lungs were *** wall thickness,bronchiolar density and alveolarization were ***:The offsprings with CDH were characterized by severe pulmonary hypoplasia(lung weight-to-body weight ratio:0.0263[95%confidence interval(CI)0.0242-0.0278)]in the nitrofen group versus 0.0385(95%CI 0.0355-0.0424)in the control group(P=0.0001).Pulmonary arterial wall thickness was decreased to 3.0(95%CI 2.8-3.7)μm in the nitrofen+sildenafil group versus 5.0(95%CI 4.1-4.9)μm in the nitrofen group(P=0.02).Terminal bronchioles increased to 13.7(95%CI 10.7-15.2)μm in the nitrofen+bosentan group in contrast to 8.7(95%CI 7.2-9.4)μm in the nitrofen group(P=0.002).More significant differences(P=0.0001)were seen in terminal bronchioles in the nitrofen+sildenafil+bosentan group than in the nitrofen group[14.0(95%CI 12.5-15.4)μm versus 8.5(95%CI 7.1-9.3)μm].Pulmonary arterial wall thickness was also decreased in the former ***:In this rat model,antenatal treatment with sildenafil attenuates vascular *** promotes the development of terminal bronchioles in nitrofen-induced CDH.

Seed dispersion reduces the depredation rate and increases genetic flow. Some species of Carnivora consume fruits as a standard component of their diet, so they become potential seed dispersers. In Mexico, a few studies evaluated carnivorous as seed dispersers, especially in dry ecosystems. Citharexylum tetramerum and Ziziphus pedunculata are endemic plants from the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán’s Biosphere Reserve (TCBR);however, there are very little data about dispersal seeds for both species. We assessed the germination of seeds ingested by carnivores obtained from feces. We compared them with seeds from fruits as a control group. At the Metropolitan University laboratory, we germinated seeds, from: plants, scats, and fruits, and we used Kruskall Wallis Test to compare percentage and germination rate. C. tetramerum seeds ingested by a carnivorous decreased in germination percentage and rate. In contrast, the percentage and rate of germination of Z. pedunculata seeds from carnivorous feces were higher than the control group. However, Z. pedunculata control seeds did not germinate during tests, but at the end of the tests, we found that 90% of control seeds were not dead, so they were dormant seeds. Carnivores interact as legitime dispersers for both plants because they are keeping the viability of seeds. Still, we only showed that Z. pedunculata gut carnivores broke with the dormancy of seeds. We consider that in future research, it could be essential to identify other animals that consume fruits of those plants and if it is possible to follow seeds after they have been removed. Those points could help to get better understanding of those endemic plants from Tehuacán.

5.1% of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) mixed with 2% of chlorhexidine (CHX) forms a brown precipitate that corresponds to para-chloroaniline (PCA), whether PCA is formed after the combination of NaOCl, CHX, and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) by means of electron impact (high resolution and interlaced scanning) and ionization by fast atom bombardment (FAB), was analyzed. The brown precipitate, showed signals 127 and 153 Da, corresponding to p-chloroaniline and p-chlorophenyl isocyanate, respectively. These results were analyzed and compared with signals from the interlaced scanning program and confirmed with high resolution mass spectrometry analysis and compared with the NIST database. The mass spectra of this precipitated after different days confirmed the evolution of byproducts with the presence of a peak m/z = 127, due to the decrease of the fragment m/z = 153, which disappeared after 180 days. A blue and a white precipitate were observed by the addition of CHX (2%) with or without polyethylene glycol, respectively, EDTA (17%) and NaOCl (5.1%) precipitates contain chlorhexidine (m/z = 505), but no PCA was detected. We confirmed that PCA is not formed directly as a byproduct of CHX oxidation, but through the formation of the para-chlorophenyl isocyanate intermediate, which degrades slowly to PCA.

One of the major causes of congenital hypophosphatemic rickets is the X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets (XHR), due to a defect on PHEX gene. The XHR increases the renal elimination of phosphate, that condition leads a defective mineralization of bones and also affects the growth in children. Clinical diagnosis should be suspected in children with signs of rickets and hypophosphatemia with normal calcium levels. We describe clinical characteristics and genetic results of four patients diagnosed and treated in our Nephrology Section. All patients have a “de novo” XHR as none familiars are affected. Early diagnosis should be suspected before the bone deformities have been submitted and the growth would have been impaired.

Lifestyle Characterization in Mexican Teenagers: Healthy Weight against Overweight and Obesity

Objective: Currently Mexico is one of the 1st places in overweight and obesity in teenagers;the health and nutrition national survey in 2018, expresses a 41.1% of women in teenager’s population and a 35.8% in men. To analyze teenagers’ lifestyles with healthy weight against overweight and obesity. Method: descriptive, transverse, analytic and comparative, a non-probabilistic sampling distributed up to convenience in 2 groups of cases and controls, with 50 teenagers diagnosed with overweight and obesity and 50 teenagers with healthy weight, in a 12 to 15 years old age range;for previous informed consent, the survey Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II was applied to measure the lifestyles in 6 dimensions. The analysis got a standard deviation and the association of variables U of Mann-Whitney for independent samples. Results: In both teenagers’ groups male gender prevailed with a 76%, the result in teenagers’ group was identified, an average lifestyle with the dimensions of: interpersonal relationships, feeding, physical activity, stress management and spiritual growth and a low level in the dimension of health responsibility. There is a meaningful difference in the variables association in the spiritual growth lifestyle. Conclusions: The evaluation of both groups is similar to an average score;this shows that there is a risk to unleash overweight, obesity and complications in the adult age of the teenager.
