Olfactory ensheathing glia promote axonal regeneration in the mammalian central nervous system,including retinal ganglion cell axonal growth through the injured optic ***,it is unknown whether olfactory ensheathing glia also have neuroprotective *** ensheathing glia express brain-derived neurotrophic factor,one of the best neuroprotectants for axotomized retinal ganglion ***,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective capacity of olfactory ensheating glia after optic nerve *** ensheathing glia cells from an established rat immortalized clonal cell line,TEG3,were intravitreally injected in intact and axotomized retinas in syngeneic and allogeneic mode with or without microglial inhibition or immunosuppressive *** and gene expression analyses were *** bulb-derived primary olfactory ensheathing glia and TEG3 express major histocompatibility complex classⅡ*** and syngenically transplanted TEG3 cells survived in the vitreous for up to 21 days,forming an *** axotomized retinas,only the allogeneic TEG3 transplant rescued retinal ganglion cells at 7 days but not at 21 *** these retinas,microglial anatomical activation was higher than after optic nerve crush *** intact retinas,both transplants activated microglial cells and caused retinal ganglion cell death at 21 days,a loss that was higher after allotransplantation,triggered by pyroptosis and partially rescued by microglial inhibition or ***,neuroprotection of axotomized retinal ganglion cells did not improve with these *** different neuroprotective properties,different toxic effects,and different responses to microglial inhibitory treatments of olfactory ensheathing glia in the retina depending on the type of transplant highlight the importance of thorough preclinical studies to explore these variables.

Geomorphic indices and relative tectonic uplift in the Guerrero sector of the Mexican forearc

Tectonically active areas,such as forearc regions,commonly show contrasting relief,differential tectonic uplift,variations in erosion rates,in river incision,and in channel gradient produced by ongoing tectonic ***,information on the tectonic activity of a defined area could be derived via landscape *** study uses topography and geomorphic indices to extract signals of ongoing tectonic deformation along the Mexican subduction forearc within the Guerrero *** this purpose,we use field data,topographical data,knickpoints,the ratio of volume to area（Rva）.the stream-length gradient index（st）,and the normalized channel steepness index（k_（sn））.The results of the applied landscape analysis reveal considerable variations in relief,topography and geomorphic indices values along the Guerrero sector of the Mexican subduction *** argue that the reported differences are indicative of tectonic deformation and of variations in relative tectonic uplift along the studied forearc.A significant drop from central and eastern parts of the study area towards the west in values of R_（VA）（from ~500 to^300）,st（from ~500 to ca.400）,maximum st（from ~1500-2500 to ~ 1000） and k_（sn）（from ~150 to ~100） denotes a decrease in relative tectonic uplift in the same *** suggest that applied geomorphic indices values and forearc topography are independent of climate and *** mechanisms responsible for the observed variations and inferred changes in relative forearc tectonic uplift call for further studies that explain the physical processes that control the forearc along strike uplift variations and that determine the rates of *** proposed methodology and results obtained through this study could prove useful to scientists who study the geomorphology of forearc regions and active subduction zones.

AIM:To investigate the incidence of neoplasms in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)patients and the potential causative role of ***:We performed an observational descriptive study comparing the incidence of malignancies in IBD patients treated with thiopurines and patients not treated with these *** included 812 patients which were divided in two groups depending on whether they have received thiopurines or *** have studied basal characteristics of both groups(age when the disease was diagnosed,sex,type of IBD,etc.)and treatments received(Azathioprine,mercaptopurine,infliximab,adalimumab or other immunomodulators),as well as neoplasms *** analysis was performed with the student t test,χ 2 test or Wilcoxon exact test as appropriate.A logistic regression analysis was performed as multivariate *** significance was establish at P values of less than 0.05,and 95%CI were used for the odds ***:Among 812 patients included,429(52.83%)have received thiopurines:79.5% azathioprine,14% mercaptopurine and 6.5% both drugs.44.76% of patients treated with thiopurines and 46,48% of patients who did not receive this treatment were women(P > 0.05).The proportion of ulcerative colitis patients treated with thiopurines was 30.3% compare to 66.67% of patients not treated(P se was 123.79 ± 36.5 mg/d(range:50-250 mg/d),mean usage time was 72.16 ± 55.7 mo(range:1-300 mo)and the accumulated dose along this time was 274.32 ± 233.5 g(1.5-1350 g).With respect to mercaptopurine,mean dose was 74.7 ± 23.9 mg/d(range:25-150 mg/d),mean usage time of 23.37 ± 27.6 mo(range:1-118 mo),and the accumulated dose along this time was 52.2 ± 63.5 g(range:1.5-243 g).Thiopurine s-methyltransferase activity was tested in 66% of patients treated with thiopurines,among which 98.2% had an intermediate or high *** the patients treated with thiopurines,27.27%(112 patients)and 11.66%(50 patients)received treatment

Aljustrel mines were classified as having high environmental hazard due to their large tailings volume and high metal concentrations in waters and *** assess acid mine drainage impacted systems whose environmental conditions change quickly,the use of biological indicators with short generation time such as diatoms is *** study combined geochemical and diatom data,whose results were highlighted in 3 groups：Group 1,with low p H（1.9–5.1）and high metal/metalloid（Al,As,Cd,Co,Cu,Fe,Mn,Ni,Pb,Zn;0.65–1032 mg/L）and sO4（405–39124 mg/L）*** acidophilic species,Pinnularia aljustrelica,was perfectly adapted to the adverse conditions;in contrast,teratological forms of Eunotia exigua were found,showing that metal toxicity affected this *** low availability of metals/metalloids in sediments of this group indicates that metals/metalloids of the exchangeable fractions had been solubilized,which in fact enables metal/metalloid diatom uptake and consequently the occurrence of teratologies;Group 2,with sites of near neutral p H（5.0–6.8）and intermediate metal/metalloid（0.002–6 mg/L）and sO4（302–2179 mg/L）concentrations;this enabled the existence of typical species of uncontaminated streams（Brachysira neglectissima,Achnanthidium minutissimum）;Group 3,with samples from unimpacted sites,showing low metal/metalloid（0–0.8 mg/L）and sO4（10–315 mg/L）concentrations,high pH（7.0–8.4）and Cl contents（10–2119 mg/L）and the presence of brackish to marine species（Entomoneis paludosa）.For similar conditions of acidity,differences in diversity,abundance and teratologies of diatoms can be explained by the levels of metals/metalloids.

While the association between obesity,type 2 diabetes(T2D)and the presence of steatosis has been established since the beginning of the last century(1),it was not until 1980 that the first references were made about a form of histologic liver lesion designated as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NAsH).NAsH is characterised by the presence of a variable degree of steatosis accompanied by lobular inflammatory infiltrate and hepatocellular damage with or without ***,the broader term of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)was accepted,which more accurately encompass the entire spectrum of lesions that appear in these patients(2).Ever since then,NAFLD has become progressively the primary cause of chronic liver disease in developed countries(3).

severe Acute Hepatitis of Unknown Origin in Children: What Do We Know Today?

In May 2022, the UK International Health Regulations National Focal Point notified World Health Organization of 176 cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in children under 10 years of age. From that moment on, cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown origin in children began to be reported in several countries. As of June 17, 2022, a total of 991 cases had been reported in 35 countries worldwide, 50 children needed a liver transplant and 28 patients died. According to information published by ECDC, 449 cases have been detected in 21 EU countries. The children were between 1 month and 16 years of age. Adenovirus was detected in 62.2% of the analyzed samples. so far, the cause of these cases is unknown and many hypotheses remain open, but hepatitis A-E viruses and COVID-19 vaccines have been ruled out. A possible hypothesis has been published to explain the cause of these cases of severe hepatitis, according to which it could be a consequence of adenovirus infection in the intestine in healthy children previously infected with sARs-CoV-2. No other clear epidemiological risk factors have been identified to date. Thus, at this time, the etiology of the current cases of hepatitis remains under active investigation.

Anti-pandemic policies impacted the governance of Higher Education Institutions(HEIs)through confinement and distancing *** an impact was observed in the identity,reputation,and image of the HEI in the face of the health *** objective of this work was to establish an empirical contrast between the theoretical structure consulted regarding the evaluations of summaries published from 2019 to 2024 by judges.A documentary,cross-sectional,and retrospective study was carried out with a sample of sources indexed in international *** results demonstrate that image and age regulate the impact of identity and income on *** relation to the state of the art,it is recommended to extend the study to sociocultural,demographic,economic,and educational variables in order to anticipate the transition from university governance to corporate governance.

Non-traditional lignocellulosic materials are a significant resource for producing high-value products,including *** work studied the nanocellulose obtention from chemical pulps of the two fast-growing bamboo species,Guadua trinii,and Guadua *** pulps were produced by soda-anthraquinone(s)pulping from both autohydrolysis-pretreated(H)and unpretreated bamboo ***-pretreated(sHP)and unpretreated soda-anthraquinone(AQ)(sP)pulps were characterized by yield,Kappa number,alpha,beta,and gamma cellulose,degree of polymerization,water retention value,and *** nanocellulose was produced by a sequential chemical oxidation treatment(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl,TEMPO reagent)and mechanical *** was characterized by carboxylic group content and *** results revealed that autohydrolysis pretreatment resulted in a higher hemicelluloses extraction in *** contrast,the pulping yield of unpretreated samples was higher for ***,and the soda-AQ pulps from this species exhibited better delignification than the autohydrolysis-pretreated *** crystallinity index values of the obtained pulps were high(>80%),and the alpha-cellulose contents were *** viscosities of the aqueous nanocellulose suspensions were higher for the nanocellulose solutions obtained from the unpretreated soda-AQ ***,nanocellulose from *** unpretreated soda-AQ pulps had a higher rate of carboxylic *** results of this work are significant in assessing the potential of both bamboo species as a source of high-value products within the biorefinery framework because the viscosities of the aqueous nanocellulose suspensions depend on the size and shape of *** has significant importance for industrial unit operations and potential applications.
