The Internet of Things(IoT)is integral to modern infrastructure,enabling connectivity among a wide range of devices from home automation to industrial control *** the exponential increase in data generated by these interconnected devices,robust anomaly detection mechanisms are *** detection in this dynamic environment necessitates methods that can accurately distinguish between normal and anomalous behavior by learning intricate *** paper presents a novel approach utilizing generative adversarial networks(GAns)for anomaly detection in IoT ***,optimizing GAns involves tuning hyper-parameters such as learning rate,batch size,and optimization algorithms,which can be challenging due to the non-convex nature of GAn loss *** address this,we propose a five-dimensional Gray wolf optimizer(5DGWO)to optimize GAn *** 5DGWO introduces two new types of wolves:gamma(γ)for improved exploitation and convergence,and theta(θ)for enhanced exploration and escaping local *** proposed system framework comprises four key stages:1)preprocessing,2)generative model training,3)autoencoder(AE)training,and 4)predictive model *** generative models are utilized to assist the AE training,and the final predictive models(including convolutional neural network(Cnn),deep belief network(DBn),recurrent neural network(Rnn),random forest(RF),and extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost))are trained using the generated data and AE-encoded *** evaluated the system on three benchmark datasets:nSl-KDD,UnSW-nB15,and *** conducted on diverse IoT datasets show that our method outperforms existing anomaly detection strategies and significantly reduces false *** 5DGWO-GAn-CnnAE exhibits superior performance in various metrics,including accuracy,recall,precision,root mean square error(RMSE),and convergence *** proposed 5DGWO-GAn-CnnAE achieved the lowest RMSE values across the nSl-KDD,UnSW-nB15,and

Hong Kong has undergone substantial economic transformations and developed into a sophisticated busi- ness and financial center in the Asia-Pacific region, since the return of sovereignty to China as a Special Administrative Region under the One Country Two Systems （OCTS） in 1997. This paper discusses and analyzes the industrial struc- tural changes of Hong Kong in recent decades as well as its future challenges and opportunities, The data and finding reveal that even though Hong Kong will face fierce competition from the Mainland＇s cities as the rise of China, the important role as a bridge between China and the rest of the world wilt brace Hong Kong itself under the OCTS for developing into a service hub for business and trade in the Asia-Pacific region.

A Systematic Review on the Comparison between lumbar Disc Hernia Resection by Endoscopy and Microdiscectomy

Background: Surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation is a widely debated topic, with several techniques available. Percutaneous endoscopic discectomy (PElD) has gained popularity due to its lower invasiveness compared to conventional techniques such as microdiscectomy/open lumbar microdiscectomy (OlMD)/tubular microdiscectomy (TMD). However, evidence on the effectiveness, recovery time and complications of these techniques is not yet clearly established. This systematic review aims to compare the preoperative and postoperative outcomes of both techniques. Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in databases including PubMed and Cochrane, following strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Comparative studies and narrative reviews on PElD and OlMD/TMD published between 2019 and 2024 were included. Key outcomes considered were pre- and postoperative Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), hospitalization time, time to return to work, and postoperative complications. Results: The reviewed studies indicated that PElD is associated with a greater reduction in postoperative pain compared to OlMD/TMD, with a significant decrease in VAS, according to the study by Priola et al. (2019). The hospital stay was also shorter for patients undergoing PElD, averaging 2 days compared to OlMD/TMD. Furthermore, PElD favored a faster return to work and had a lower rate of postoperative complications, such as dural tears and reoperations, compared to OlMD/TMD. Conclusions: PElD demonstrates clear advantages over OlMD/TMD in terms of pain reduction, shorter hospital stay, faster return to work, and fewer postoperative complications. However, the implementation of this technique requires a significant learning curve, suggesting that its effectiveness may vary depending on the surgeon’s experience. PElD should be considered a preferred option in the resection of lumbar disc herniations, especially in patients seeking a quick and less invasive recovery.

Aging and Dynamics of Information: The Deeper Side of Biology (An Interdisciplinary Commentary)

The relationship between the evolution of the basal metabolic rate (BMR) and the evolution of mass estimated as body weight in complex organisms such as human beings show the association between dissipated energy and information recovered as material structure. In such a context, it is necessary to highlight that the metabolic rate estimated as the energy dissipated per unit of mass presents the same rate of change as the mechanical speed estimated as distance traveled per unit of time. We describe this as a logical equivalence that has consequences on the geometry of the system. Our study proposes to describe the relationships between BMR, body weight, and the geometry of these systems in the same way that relativistic mechanics describes the relationships between matter, speed, and the geometry of the space in which the variables of a physical system are defined. It is exactly the same mechanical description, but considering five dimensions instead of four. The concept of information density limit is decisive in this theoretical framework since it contributes to explaining the changes in the geometry of these systems, their order-chaos transitions, and their general holographic description.

Enhancement of a foaming formulation with a zwitterionic surfactant for gas mobility control in harsh reservoir conditions

This work presents the design of a robust foam formulation that tolerates harsh reservoir conditions(high salinity,high divalent ion concentration,high temperature,light oil,and hydrocarbon injection gas)in a sandstone *** this,we selected anionic Alpha Olefin Sulfonate(AOS)surfactants and studied their synergistic effects in mixtures with zwitterionic betaines to enhance foam *** laboratory workflow used to define the best formulation followed a de-risking approach in three consecutive ***,(phase 1)the main surfactant(AOS)was selected among a series of commercial candidates in static ***,(phase 2)the betaine booster to be combined with the previously selected AOS was chosen and their ratio optimized in static ***,(phase 3)the surfactant/booster ratio was optimized under dynamic conditions in a porous medium in the absence and the presence of *** a result of this study,a mixture of an AOS C14-C16 and cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine(CAPHS)was selected as the one having the best *** designed formulation was proven to be robust in a wide range of *** generated a strong and stable foam at reservoir conditions,overcoming variations in salinity and foam quality,and tolerated the presence of oil.

Research progress of steel slag-based carbon sequestration

large amounts of steel slag (SS) and CO2 are produced globally each year during steel production. An SS-based carbon capture and utilization (SS-CCU) process for CO2 mineralization is suitable specifically for steel-making industries for simultaneous mitigation of CO2 emissions and valorization of wastes. However, the SS-CCU process is currently in the stage of laboratory research and far away from industrial application. In this review, some SS-CCU processes, including direct and indirect carbonation processes, were explored and summarized. Herein, the key factors and mechanisms of the SS-based CO2 sequestration process were identified. The carbonation process efficacy and its environmental impact (including global warming, energy use, water use, and metallic pollutants) were evaluated. Furthermore, the challenges and prospects of the further development of the SS-CCU process were discussed. © 2022

larch wood is structurally classifi ed in many countries as one of conifers with the highest load-bearing capacity(strength class of C30).The Spanish visual classifi cation regulation only assigns a strength class to 4 pine woods:laricio pine(Pinus nigra ***),Silvestre pine(Pinus sylvestris l.),Radiata pine(Pinus radiata ***),and Pinaster pine(Pinus pinaster Ait.).This work adds to the number of structurally characterised species by creating a visual classifi cation table for Japanese larch wood(larix kaempferi(lamb.)Carr.)which diff erentiates between 2 visual classes,MEG-1 and *** strength values were calculated for each class(fk,MEG-1=31.80 MPa,f k,MEG-2=24.55 MPa),mean module of elasticity(E 0,mean,MEG-1=13,082 MPA,E 0,mean,MEG-2=12,320 MPA)and density(ρk,MEG-1=456.6 kg m−3,ρk,MEG-2=469.1 kg m−3),before fi nally assigning a strength class of C30 to visual class MEG-1,and a strength class of C24 to visual class MEG-2.

A Generalized Array Factor for Time-Modulated Hexagonal Based Antenna Array Geometry With novel Trapezoidal Switching

The concept of the time-modulated array has been emerging as an alternative to the complex phase shifters,which lowers the cost of the array feeding network due to the utilization of radio frequency(RF)*** various forms of hexagonal antenna array geometries can be used for applications like surveillance tracking in phased array radar and wireless communication *** work proposes the generalized array factor(AF)for the hexagonal antenna array geometry based on time *** time modulation in generalized hexagonal geometry can maintain the fixed static amplitude excitation,giving more flexibility over ***,a novel trapezoidal switching function is also proposed and applied to the generalized array factor to enable future researchers to use this array factor in the field of advancement to observe how switching schemes like trapezoidal and rectangular affect the array pattern's side lobe level(Sll).The generalized equation can be utilized for the analysis and synthesis of radiation characteristics of the time-modulated hexagonal array(TMHA),time-modulated concentric hexagonal array(TMCHA),time-modulated hexagonal cylindrical array(TMHCA),and time-modulated hexagonal concentric cylindrical array(TMHCCA).The numerical result illustrates the generation of AF of time-modulated hexagonal structures and also shows that the trapezoidal switching sequence outperforms the rectangular switch using the cat swarm optimization(CSO)approach.

Harmonizing metabolic blueprint of flavor using complementary genomic insights

A key component of the sensory experience is flavor, which reflects preferred customer desires for higher-quality fruits, vegetables, and cereals. However, breeders are currently facing difficulty in capturing flavor qualities across crops, which requires the deployment of multi-disciplinary genomics technologies to identify novel alleles and validate the function using genome editing techniques. Recently, luo et al. (2024) published a work in Molecular Plant, reporting that the flavor traits of waxy corn are influenced by the preferential selection of brassinosteroid and benzoxazinoid pathway genes (ZmBZR1, ZmUGP1, and the benzoxazinoid biosynthetic [bx] genes), which caused significant differences in metabolic pathways of sweet metabolites such as 2,4-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoxazin-3-one-glucoside (DIMBOA) and raffinose. Furthermore, flavor perception in the waxy corn population is unaffected by the desired breeding characteristic of “glutinous” texture.

Suicide is defined as the act of a person attempting to take their own life by causing *** is a complex phenomenon that is influenced by a multitude of factors,including psychosocial,cultural,and religious aspects,as well as genetic,biochemical,and environmental *** a biochemical perspective,it is crucial to consider the communication between the endocrine,immune,and nervous systems when studying the etiology of *** pathologies involve the bidirectional communication between the peripheral activity and the central nervous system by the action of molecules such as cytokines,hormones,and *** humoral signals,when present in optimal quantities,are responsible for maintaining physiological homeostasis,including mood *** elevates the cortisol and proinflammatory cytokines levels and alter neurotransmitters balance,thereby increasing the risk of developing a psychiatric disorder and subsequently the risk of suicidal *** review provides an integrative perspective about the neurochemical,immunological,and endocrinological disturbances associated with suicidal behavior,with a particular focus on those alterations that may serve as potential risk markers and/or indicators of the state preceding such a tragic act.
