Desmodus rotundus and Diphylla ecaudata, both of which are mammals of the order Chiroptera, Desmodontidae family, their diet consisting exclusively of blood. D. rotundus is the main vector and transmitter of the rabies virus, which affects human beings as well as several livestock species so the study of this bat species is of high importance within the fields of animal agriculture and public health. The present study describes and compares the histologic characteristics of the urinary system of two hematophagous bat species. A total of 5 bats from each species were captured in the municipalities of Progreso de Obregón, Hidalgo (D. rotundus), and Huayacocotla, Veracruz (D. ecaudata). Organs belonging to the urinary system were extracted: kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra;samples were fixed using 10% formalin and processed by the paraffin embedding technique, obtaining sections of 5 µm thickness, which in turn were stained using hematoxylin-eosin (H-E) and Gomori trichrome (GT) stains. From the obtained histologic preparations, a descriptive and comparative analysis of the structural organography of the urinary system of both species was made, and no noteworthy histological differences between samples were noted. The present research is intended to provide a framework for future studies of these species’ currently understudied microscopic anatomy.

Intestinal anti-inflammatory effect of a plant sterol food supplement in experimental murine colitis and cell co-culture models

The potential of a plant sterol food supplement （PS-FS） in addressing intestinal inflammation in vivo and in vitro was evaluated. As in vivo model， C57BL/6J mice were exposed to 1.5% dextran sulfate sodium in three 5-day periods， with 10-day rest intervals in between， daily reciving PS-FS （35 mg PS/kg）. The in vitro approach involved a bi-cameral system with 8-day-differentiated Caco-2 （apical） and RAW264.7 cells （basolateral）. The bioaccessible fraction of PS-FS， obtained after INFOGEST 2.0 simulated gastrointestinal digestion， was added to the apical part （90 min）， followed by stimulation with lipopolysaccharide （1 μg/mL， 24 h）. PS-FS alleviated rectal bleeding and rebalanced pro- (tumor necrosis factor α， interleukin （IL）-6， and IL-8) and anti-inflammatory cytokines （IL-10）. Additionally， PS-FS ameliorated histopathological damage and enhancing occludin expression. A reduction in oxidative stress was evidenced by decreased myeloperoxidase activity and reactive oxygen species production. The anti-inflammatory mechanism included suppressing cyclooxygenase 2 expression， reducing prostaglandin E2production， and inhibiting the phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of the nuclear factor κB p65 subunit. This study reveals the potential of PS-FS as a therapeutic intervention for colitis. The alignment between in vivo and in vitro outcomes substantiates the appropriateness of the co-culture model to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of foods.

选自沃尔夫冈·阿玛多伊斯·莫扎特(Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)的歌剧《后宫诱逃》(Die Entführung aus dem Serail)的咏叹调“marten Aller Arten”,被认为是最具挑战性的女高音咏叹调之一。演唱这首咏叹调需要歌唱者具备较高的歌唱技术,包含歌唱中气息的灵活性、音与音之间的过渡和衔接、可长时间保持发声与音准的气息强度。此外,还需要歌唱者拥有宽广的音域和能够随时转换音高的能力。现今大众仍普遍认同的观点是,戏剧性的声音是沉重的、强烈的、甚至阴暗的,这与敏捷、灵活与明亮的声音几乎是对立的。通常情况下,敏捷、清晰的声音会更多地与闹剧或喜剧作品联系在一起,而沉重、强烈的声音则更多地与戏剧联系在一起。本文中,笔者尝试证明这两种音色可以同时存在于一个曲目中,由抒情花腔女高音扮演的康斯坦斯这一角色正好可以证明笔者的观点。本文提出了一些可供参考的观点,以帮助读者从不同的技术角度了解女高音如何处理声区转换,以支持其在主要音域中以饱满的嗓音演唱歌曲,使声音放开,并实现咏叹调“marten Aller Arten”所要求的戏剧性。同时,本文以意大利美声学派的原则为基础,介绍了该咏叹调的技术方法——其重点集中于四个声区:胸声区、弱混声区、强混声区和头声区。本文比较了意大利美声学派的一些歌唱方法和关于声区的不同技术的概念。尽管这些概念仍会引起混淆,但这一新的视角有助于帮助人们理解女高音声区的结构,并将其更清晰地带入实践当中。了解了这四个音区的工作原理,女高音歌唱家就能更自如地去演绎这首咏叹调,并将嗓音发挥到极致,帮助歌唱家们更深入地了解自己的“乐器”,加强声音本身的柔韧性、肌肉和嗓音的调节能力,这些都是演唱咏叹调“marten Aller Arten”所需要的。

Cytotoxic effect of Spirulina platensis extracts on human acute leukemia Kasumi-1 and chronic myelogenous leukemia K-562 cell lines

Objective: To evaluate the cytotoxic effects of Spirulina platensis extracts on acute leukemia Kasumi-1 and chronic leukemia K-562 cancer cell ***: Various concentrations of Spirulina platensis extracts(0.25–50.00 mg/m L)obtained with different solvents were used to treat cell lines for 72 h. For cytotoxic effect studies, cell viability test with trypan blue solution, MTT assay and microscopic cytomorphological assessment were ***: Spirulina extract obtained with 70% ethanol showed significant cytotoxicity in K562 and Kasumi-1 cell lines. With trypan blue solution, IC_(50) values were found to be4.64 mg/m L for K-562 and 3.68 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines. Spirulina aqueous extract also showed cytotoxicity with trypan blue method, at a slightly higher dose; where IC_(50) values were 12.68 mg/m L for K-562 and 2.13 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines. The IC_(50) values were found 0.40 mg/m L for K-562 and 0.31 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines for the 70% ethanol extract according to the MTT assay. Spirulina extract obtained with water also showed cytotoxicity but the dose was a little higher where IC_(50) values were15.77 mg/m L for K-562 and 9.44 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines. The effect of cytotoxicity with ethanol extract is quite comparable with that observed for cyclophosphamide, which is a chemical used as anticancer ***: The cytotoxicity exhibited by Spirulina extract to cancer cell lines might be due to the presence of phytopigments(carotenoids, chlorophyll, phycocyanin) as well as polysaccharides that were reported previously as constituents of the extract. So crude extracts of Spirulina can be used as a source to develop anticancer drugs.

Objective:To determine the polymorphisms of Interleukin-10(IL-10)(-592,-1082) in pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB)with and without type 2 diabetes(T2D).Methods:We studied a Mexican mestizo population of 37 patients with TB in remission(TBr) and 40 with active pulmonary TB (PTB),21 patients with TB + T2D.47 blood donors accepted,and 13 healthy health-care workers with tuberculin skin lest *** of IL-10 polymorphisms was performed by real-lime Polymerase chain ***:IL-10-592C/A presented in a greater proportion in healthy individuals than in patients with type 2 diabetes and TB in a not quite significant statistically ***-10-1082A/A presented more frequently in the group of patients with both diseases,not being statistically significant in comparison with the group of healthy subjects. Conclusions:This study describes two important new ***,it reveals that the IL-10 (-592 A/A and -592 C/C) polymorphisms were found in a greater proportion in a group of patients with T2D and TB than in healthy ***,the study provides evidence that the(-1082 G/G) polymorphism presented with greater frequency in healthy individuals than in patients with both ol these diseases.

A 33-year-old woman who presented with epigastric discomfort and diarrhea underwent an abdominal ultrasound(US).This investigation and subsequent contrastenhanced computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging and endoscopic US with fine needle aspiration (FNA)revealed a 40 mm well-circumscribed mass in the uncinate process of the *** were suggestive of a mucinous or solid-cystic pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas,although other lesions such as a nonfunctioning neuroendocrine tumor could not be ruled *** samples were negative for malignant cells,but of limited value due to poor *** was decided to surgically remove the tumor because malignancy could not be *** intraoperative biopsies were suggestive of mesenchymal tumor and consequently a conservative resection(uncinatectomy)was performed. The postoperative course was *** definitive diagnosis was *** showed positive staining with vimentin,S-100 protein, neurofilament and neuron-specific *** is a rare benign tumor that can also present as a pancreatic *** is feasible,safe and a good surgical technique for the treatment of nonmalignant tumors located in the uncinate process of the pancreas.

Potential for Growing Salvia hispanicaL., Areas under Rainfed Conditions in Mexico

The Salvia hispanica L. is an endemic species Mexican plant, which relevance relies upon its properties as a natural source of omega 3 (α-linolenic acid), soluble and insoluble fibers, proteins, plus some other significant nutritional components. Due to the growing relevance generated by this crop, it became necessary to characterize its physical environment, as well as the natural factors related with its cultivation nationwide, aiming to find those most suitable for its production under rainfed conditions, looking forward to provide the basis to make a decision regarding where to target the agriculture promotion of such cropland. The software used for data process and analysis was the Arc/View 3.3 version. Thus, the crop requirements were recognized in order to analyze those most suitable for chia development in each one of its selected variables in the study hereby. The regionalization and mapping aimed to detect both the optimal and suboptimal potential areas for such crop were carried out, afterwards. It was finally determined that Mexico holds a total of 2,512,359 hectares with an optimal or high cultivation potential, whereas the areas with a medium or suboptimal potential are close to 3,658,089 hectares, which can be set under rainfed conditions.

Gmelina arborea Roxb. (Melina), also known as white teak, is a tropical tree of great importance with multiple benefits. It is a timber species with renewal capacity and accelerated growth, highly durable and high quantity and quality pulp production, widely used in commercial programs of reforestation. In view of a possible increase of Melina areas in the state of Tabasco Mexico, information was needed in relation with the physical environment and natural factors in order to locate the most suitable areas under rainfed conditions. In this way, decision makers will be provided with a basic tool to direct and promote commercial plantations in the best suitable areas. The software Arc/View version 3.3 was used to process and analyze the information. The optimum agroclimatic requirements of Melina were identified and each variable factor was matched with those found at ground level. A cartographic mapping was carried out to regionalize and locate the optimal and suboptimal zones. It was determined that there are 191,532 ha of high potential and 542,573 ha of medium potential production areas of Melina in Tabasco, Mexico under rainfed conditions.

Potential Areas for Growing Cyamopsis tetragonoloba(L.) under Rainfed Conditions in Mexico

Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub., commonly known as guar gum, is a legume of great industrial importance due to the multiple uses which can be given by galactomannans contained in the seed’s endosperm. Keeping in mind the acquiring relevance of this crop, it was considered of great importance to characterize the physical environment and the natural factors in order to locate the most suitable cultivation areas under rainfed conditions. The software Arc/View version 3.3 was used to process and analyze the information. The optimal agroclimatic requirements of guar gum were identified and each variable factor was matched with those found at ground level. A cartographic mapping was carried out to regionalize and locate the optimal and suboptimal zones. It was determined that in Mexico there is a great potential for its cultivation since it was found the existence of 900 thousand hectares with high or optimal potential and more than 200 thousand hectares of medium and sub-optimal potential where crop can be well established under rainfed conditions.
