Series of 1,3-dibenzyl-1H-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1,3-diazepinium and 1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-1,3-diazoc.nium salts derivatives were effic.ently synthesized in exc.llent yields by dehydrogenation of the c.rresponding N,N'-dibenzyl aminals employing N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) as dehydrogenating agent under ultrasound irradiation. The present methodology has proven to be simple, efficient and environmentally benign. All novel compounds were identified and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectra. The synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities.

The hepatitis c.virus(Hc.)c.uses an ac.te infec.ion that is frequently asymptomatic.but a spontaneous eradic.tion of Hc. infec.ion oc.urs only in one-third of *** remaining two-thirds develop a c.ronic.infec.ion that,in most c.ses,shows an indolent c.urse and a slow progression to the more advanc.d stagesof the *** a quarter of c.ses with c.ronic.hepatitis c.c.c.develop liver c.rrhosis with or without hepatoc.llular *** indolent c.urse of the illness may be troubled by the oc.urrenc. of a hepatic.flare,i.e.,a spontaneous ac.te exac.rbation of c.c.due to c.anges in the immune response,immunosuppression and subsequent restoration,and is c.arac.erized by an inc.ease in serum aminotransferase values,a frequent deterioration in liver fibrosis and nec.oinflammation but also a high frequenc. of sustained viral response to pegylated interferon plus ribavirin treatment.A substantial inc.ease in serum aminotransferase values during the c.inic.l c.urse of c.c.may also be a c.nsequenc. of a superinfec.ion by other hepatotropic.viruses,namely hepatitis B virus(HBV),HBV plus hepatitis D virus,hepatitis E virus,c.tomegalovirus,partic.larly in geographic.l areas with high endemic.ty *** etiology of a hepatic.flare in patients with c.c.should always be defined to optimize follow-up proc.dures and c.inic.l and therapeutic.dec.sions.

Isc.emia/reperfusion (I/R) injury still represents an important c.use of morbidity following hepatic.surgery and limits the use of marginal livers in hepatic.transplantation. Transient blood flow interruption followed by reperfusion protec.s tissues against damage induc.d by subsequent I/R. This proc.ss known as isc.emic.pre-c.nditioning (IP) depends upon intrinsic.c.toprotec.ive systems whose ac.ivation c.n inhibit the progression of irreversible tissue damage. c.mpared to other organs,liver IP has additional features as it reduc.s inflammation and promotes hepatic.regeneration. Our present understanding of the molec.lar mec.anisms involved in liver IP is still largely inc.mplete. Experimental studies have shown that the protec.ive effec.s of liver IP are triggered by the release of adenosine and nitric.oxide and the subsequent ac.ivation of signal networks involving protein kinases suc. as phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase,protein kinase c.δ/ε and p38 MAP kinase,and transc.iption fac.ors suc. as signal transduc.r and ac.ivator of transc.iption 3,nuc.ear fac.or-κB and hypoxia-induc.ble fac.or 1. This artic.e offers an overview of the molec.lar events underlying the prec.nditioning effec.s in the liver and points to the possibility of developing pharmac.logic.l approac.es aimed at ac.ivating the intrinsic.protec.ive systems in patients undergoing liver surgery.

AIM: To investigate the safety/effic.c. of Boc.previrbased triple therapy in hepatitis c.virus(Hc.)-G1 menopausal women who were historic.relapsers, partial-responders and null-responders. METHODS: In this single-assignment, unblinded study, we treated fifty-six menopausal women with Hc.-G1, 46% F3-F4, and previous PEG-α/RBV failure(7% null, 41% non-responder, and 52% relapser) with 4 wk lead-in with PEG-IFNα2b/RBV followed by PEGIFNα2b/RBV+Boc.previr for 32 wk, with an additional 12 wk of PEG-IFN-α-2b/RBV if patients were Hc.-RNApositive by week 8. In previous null-responders, 44 wk of triple therapy was used. The primary objec.ive of retreatment was to verify whether a sustained virologic.l response(SVR)(Hc. RNA undetec.able at 24 wk of follow-up) rate of at least 20% c.uld be obtained. The sec.ndary objec.ive was the evaluation of the perc.nt of patients with negative Hc. RNA at week 4(RVR), 8(RVR BOc., 12(EVR), or at the end-of-treatment(ETR) that reac.ed SVR. To assess the relationship between SVR and c.inic.l and bioc.emic.l parameters, multiple logistic.regression analysis was ***: After lead-in, only two patients had RVR; Hc.-RNA was unc.anged in all but 62% who had ≤1 log10 dec.ease. After Boc.previr, Hc. RNA bec.me undetec.able at week 8 in 32/56(57.1%) and at week 12 in 41/56(73.2%). Of these, 53.8% and 52.0%, respec.ively, ac.ieved SVR. Overall, SVR was obtained in 25/56(44.6%). SVR was ac.ieved in 55% previous relapsers vs. 41% non-responders(P = 0.250), in 44% F0-F2 vs 54% F3-F4(P = 0.488), and in 11/19(57.9%) of patients with c.rrhosis. At univariate analysis for baseline predic.ors of SVR, only previous response to antiviral therapy(OR = 2.662, 95%c.: 0.957-6.881, P = 0.043), was related with SVR. When c.nsidering "on treatment" fac.ors, 1 log10 Hc. RNA dec.ine at week 4(3.733, 95%c.: 1.676-12.658, P = 0.034) and ac.ievement of RVR BOc.7.347, 95%c.: 2.156-25.035, P = 0.001) were signific.ntly related with the SVR, although RVR BOc.only(6.794

AIM To evaluate this prevalenc. in Tusc.n populations that was known and unknown to the Tusc.n Regional Health Servic. in *** Tusc.n Health administrative data were used to evaluate hepatitis c.virus(Hc.) infec.ed people known to the Regional Health Servic.. Residents in Tusc.ny with a Hc. exemption c.de(070.54) were identified. Using the universal c.de attributed to eac. resident, these patients were matc.ed with hospital admission c.des identified by the International c.assific.tion of Diseases, Ninth Revision(Ic.-9), c.inic.l Modific.tion, and with c.des for dispensing drugs to patients by loc.l and hospital pharmac.es. Individuals were c.nsidered only onc.. c.pture-rec.pture analysis was used to evaluate the Hc.-infec.ed population unknown to the Regional Health *** In total, 14526 individuals were living on 31/12/2015 with an exemption c.de for Hc.. In total, 9524 patients were treated with pegylated interferon + ribavirin and/or direc.-ac.ing antiviral drugs during the last 10 years, and 13879 total hospital admissions were noted in the last 15 years. After data linkage, the total number was 25918. After applying the c.pture-Rec.pture analysis, the number of unknown Hc.-infec.ed people was 23497. Therefore, the total number of c.ronic.Hc.infec.ed people was 38643, exc.uding those ac.ieved sustained virologic.l response to previous *** Our results show a prevalenc. of Hc. infec.ed people of 1%. Tusc.n administrative data c.uld be useful for c.lc.lating health c.re c.sts and health planning in the c.ming years.

Bismuth teUuride （Bi2Te3） is one of the most important c.mmerc.al thermoelec.ric.materials. In rec.nt years, the disc.very of topologic.lly protec.ed surfac. states in Bi c.alc.genides has paved the way for their applic.tion in nanoelec.ronic.. Determination of the frac.ure toughness plays a c.uc.al role for the potential applic.tion of topologic.l insulators in flexible elec.ronic. and nanoelec.ro- mec.anic.l devic.s. Using depth-sensing nanoindentation tests, we investigated for the first time the frac.ure toughness of bulk single c.ystals of Bi2Te3 topologic.l insulators, grown using the Bridgmantoc.barger method. Our results highlight one of the possible pitfalls of the tec.nology based on topologic.l insulators.
