Electron beam melting(EBM) process is an additive manufacturing process largely used to produce complex metallic components made of high-performance materials for aerospace and medical ***,lattice structures made by Ti-6A1-4V have represented a hot topic for the industrial sectors because of having a great potential to combine lower weights and higher performances that can also be tailored by subsequent heat ***,the little knowledge about the mechanical behaviour of the lattice structures is limiting their *** present work aims to provide a comprehensive review of the studies on the mechanical behaviour of the lattice structures made of *** main steps to produce an EBM part were considered as guidelines to review the literature on the lattice performance:(1) design,(2) process and(3) post-heat ***,the correlation between the geometrical features of the lattice structure and their mechanical behaviour is *** addition,the correlation among the mechanical performance of the lattice structures and the process precision,surface roughness and working temperature are also *** investigation on the studies about the properties of heat-treated lattice structure is also conducted.

The production of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) has increased tremendously during recent years due to their antibacterial and physicochemical properties. As a consequence, these particles are released inevitably into the environment, with soil being the main sink of disposal. Soil interactions have an effect on AgNP mobility, transport and bioavailability. To understand AgNP adsorption processes, lab-controlled kinetic studies were *** tests performed with five different Mediterranean agricultural soils showed that cation exchange capacity and electrical conductivity are the main parameters controlling the adsorption processes. The adsorption kinetics of different sized(40, 75, 100 and 200 nm)and coated(citrate, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyethyleneglycol(PEG)) AgNPs indicated that these nanoparticle properties have also an effect on the adsorption *** assess the mobility and bioavailability of AgNPs and to determine if their form is maintained during adsorption/desorption processes, loaded soils were submitted to leaching tests three weeks after batch adsorption studies. The DIN 38414-S4 extraction method indicated that AgNPs were strongly retained on soils, and single-particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry confirmed that silver particles maintained their nanoform, except for 100 nm PEG-AgNPs and 40 nm citrate-coated AgNPs. The DTPA(diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid) leaching test was more effective in extracting silver,but there was no presence of AgNPs in almost all of these leachates.

Geomorphological mapping plays a key role in landscape representation: it is the starting point for many applications and for the realization of thematic maps, such as hazard and risk maps, geoheritage and geotourism maps. Traditional geomorphological maps are useful for scientific purposes but they need to be simplified for different aims as management and education. In tourism valorization, mapping of geomorphological resources(i.e., geosites, and geomorphosites), and of geomorphic evidences of past hazardous geomorphological events, is important for increasing knowledge about landscape evolution and active processes, potentially involving geomorphosites and hiking trails. Active geomorphosites, as those widespread in mountain regions, testify the high dynamicity of geomorphic processes and their link with climatic conditions. In the present paper, we propose a method to produce and to update cartographic supports(Geomorphological Boxes)realized starting from a traditional geomorphological survey and mapping. The Geomorphological Boxes are geomorphological representation of single, composed or complex landforms drawn on satellite images, using the official Italian geomorphological legend(ISPRA symbols). Such cartographic representation is also addressed to the analysis(identification, evaluation and selection) of Potential Geomorphosites and Geotrails. The method has been tested in the upper portion of the Loana Valley(Western Italian Alps), located within the borders of the Sesia Val Grande Geopark, recognized by UNESCO in 2013. The area has a good potential for geotourism and for educational purposes. We identified 15 Potential Geomorphosites located along 2 Geotrails; they were ranked according to specific attributes also in relation with a Reference Geomorphosite located in the Loana hydrographic basin and inserted in official national and regional databases of geosites(ISPRA; Regione Piemonte). Coffee is currently the second largest commodity on the world market today,and there is great concern about the quality of the beans exported from producer countries to Europe and *** such as using blends of different species and adding low-cost raw materials,such as chicory,corn,and soybean,impair the sensory and functional characteristics of the drink made from roasted and ground coffee *** is a need to adopt more efficient analytical methods than the microscopy technique currently *** first chromatographic method used to determine fraud was reported in *** method used paper chromatography to differentiate between coffee and chicory based on the free reducing *** of the 1980s,different methods involving high-performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography were developed in order to demonstrate geographic authenticity,distinction between species,occurrence of adulteration,and the presence of defective beans by determining the monosaccharides,oligosaccharides,tocopherols,fatty acids,volatiles,diterpenes,sterols,and phenolic substances,among *** far as the authors know,there are no papers published in the literature that have compiled such an extensive set of information about these chromatographic methods as *** the last 2 years,there has been a trend to develop analytical methods for ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry to confirm fraud in coffee,due to high sensitivity and selectivity.

Omega 3 EPA and DHA are polyunsaturated fatty acids with relevant health benefits. Conjugated linoleic and linolenic acids are known for their anti-carcinogenic effect, anti-inflammatory properties and body weight reduction. To achieve therapeutical doses, high amounts of these fatty acids' food sources must be consumed. Thus, the intake of enriched oils with a high concentration of these fatty acids is often used. But several factors influence their bioavailability. Here, by using the INFOGEST static in vitro protocol of gastrointestinal tract digestion it was studied the bioaccessibility of these fatty acids in different matrixes: Pomegranate and Fish oil and omega 3, CLA and CLNA soft-gel enriched capsules. After digestion, the Recovery Index for the major bioactive PUFAs are very low: Pomegranate oil is 2%, Fish oil 11-13%, CLNA 17%, CLA 6% and Omega 3 capsules 3%. Higher initial concentrations of these PUFAs seem to be related to higher degrees of oxidation. In Pomegranate oil, CLNA and Omega 3 capsules, the digestion process negatively influenced the antioxidant potential. The opposite was verified for the Fish oil and CLA capsules. Importantly, bioaccessibility studies of similar matrixes are very scarce and intestinal permeability is absent in most of the studies. Intestinal permeability studies were performed using a Caco-2/HT29-MTX co-culture: there is significative incorporation of the bioactive fatty acids into the intestinal cells, which may affect their permeability performance. Interestingly, most fatty acids remain in the non-bioaccessible fraction which may be relevant when designing oral routes of administration and in gut microbiota modulation.

In situ Raman imaging of high-temperature solid-state reactions in the CaSO4-SiO2 system

The deposition of mineral phases on the heat transfer surfaces of brown coal power plants may have a negative effect on power plant boilers. The paragenesis of these deposits contains information about the actual temperature prevailed during the combustion of lignite, if the temperature-dependences of distinct mineral transformations or reactions are known. Here, we report results of a sintering study (to ?1100℃) with samples containing anhydrite, quartz, and gehlenite, which are typical components of Rhenish lignite ashes. Thermal decompositions and solid-state reactions were analyzed (1) in situ and (2) both in situ and after quenching using confocal hyperspectral Raman imaging. This novel application of confocal Raman spectroscopy provides temperature-and time-resolved, 2-dimensional information about sintering processes with a micrometer-scale resolution. In the course of the sintering experiments with anhydrite and quartz with a weight ratio of 2:1 both polymorphs wollastonite and pseudowollastonite were identified in situ at about 920 and 1000℃, respectively. The formation of pseudowollastonite was thus observed about 120℃ below the phase transition temperature, demonstrating that it can form metastably. In addition,α′L-Ca2SiO4 was identified at about 1100℃. In samples containing equal weight fractions of anhydrite and quartz that were quenched after firing for 9h at about 1100℃,β-Ca2SiO4 (larnite) crystallized as rims around anhydrite grains and in direct contact to wollastonite. We furthermore observed that, depending on the ratio between quartz and anhydrite, wollastonite replaced quartz grains between 920 and 1100℃., i.e., the higher the quartz content, the lower the formation temperature of wollastonite.
