Given that energy costs are a significant component of overall processing costs in mineral plants, reducing these costs through process optimization or technology adoption enhances the technical and financial feasibility of a deposit. Geometallurgical modeling plays a key role in understanding the relationship between material characteristics, mine planning, and processing stages, ultimately contributing to more efficient resource management and cost reduction in mineral processing. This study aims to develop a block model for evaluating comminution energy consumption (CEC) and identifying blocks with the highest energy usage potential during the grinding process in a specified region. Therefore, by applying advanced geostatistical techniques, including joint estimation and simulation based on geometallurgical data from multiple mineral processing stages, we predict CEC across the study area. The dataset encompasses 2.754 drill samples and a block model with 4.680 blocks. In this effort, imulation techniques, such as Plurigaussian and Turning Bands, provided more realistic outcomes than cokriging, considering the unique characteristics of geometallurgical data and the limitations of kriging methods.

sickle cell anemia (sCA) is a prevalent genetic disorder primarily affecting individuals of African descent and populations in malaria-endemic regions, with significant global public health implications. sickle cell crises are their most common acute complication, characterized by episodes of intense pain and systemic manifestations that impair quality of life and impose a high healthcare burden. We present the case of a 19-year-old male diagnosed with sCA since the age of two, who developed a sickle cell crisis precipitated by right basal pneumonia. The patient exhibited sudden-onset, cyclic lumbar pain with progressive dyspnea. Initial management included multimodal pain control, volume optimization, and targeted antimicrobial therapy to achieve clinical stabilization. This case underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach to managing sickle cell crises, addressing both symptomatic relief and the prevention and treatment of complications. It also highlights the need for public health strategies promoting early diagnosis, access to disease-modifying therapies such as hydroxyurea, and interdisciplinary follow-up to mitigate the socioeconomic and clinical impact of sCA.

Background:To identify biometric and implantable collamer lens(ICL)-related risk factors associated with suboptimal postoperative vault in eyes implanted with phakic ***:This study reports a retrospective case series of the first operated eye in 360 patients implanted with myopic spherical or toric ***,white-to-white(WTW),central keratometry(Kc)and central corneal thickness(CCT)were measured using the ***-segment optical coherence tomography(As-OCT,Visante)was applied preoperatively for measuring the horizontal anterior-chamber angle-to-angle distance(ATA),internal anterior chamber depth(ACD),crystalline lens rise(CLR),anterior-chamber angle(ACA)and postoperatively the *** were divided into three vault groups:low(LVG:≤250μm),optimal(OVG:>250 andstic regression(MLR)was used to find the sub-optimal vault ***:MLR showed that CLR,ICL size minus the ATA(ICL size-ATA),age,ICL spherical equivalent(ICLsE)and ICL size as contributing factors for sub-optimal vaults(pseudo-R2=0.40).Increased CLR(OR:1.01,CI:1.00-1.01)and less myopic ICLsE(OR:1.22,CI:1.07-1.40)were risk factors for low *** ICL size-ATA(OR:41.29,CI:10.57-161.22)and the 13.7mm ICL(OR:7.08,CI:3.16-15.89)were risk factors for high vaults,whereas less myopic ICLsE(OR:0.85,CI:0.76-0.95)and older age(OR:0.92,CI:0.88-0.98)were protective ***:High CLR and low ICLsE were the major risk factors in eyes presenting low *** the opposite direction,ICL size-ATA was the major contributor for high *** relationship was more critical in higher myopic ICLsE,younger eyes and when 13.7mm ICL were *** findings show that factors influencing the vault have differentiated weight of influence depending on the type of vault(low,optimal or high).

This study quantifies seismic amplifications in near-shore arising from seaquakes. Within the Boundary Element Method, boundary elements are used to irradiate waves and force densities obtained for each element. Huygens′ Principle is implemented since the diffracted waves are constructed at the boundary from which they are radiated, which is equivalent to somigliana′s theorem. Application of boundary conditions leads to a system of integral equations of the Fredholm type of second kind and zero order. several numerical configurations are analyzed： The first is used to verify the present formulation with ideal sea floor configurations to estimate seismic amplifications. With the formulation verified, simple slope configurations are studied to estimate spectra of seismic motions. It is found that P-waves can produce seismic amplifications from 1.2 to 3.9 times the amplitude of the incident wave. sV-waves can generate seismic amplifications up to 4.5 times the incident wave. Another relevant finding is that the highest amplifications are at the shore compared to the ones at the sea floor.

Two aromatic co-polyamides were synthesized combining two diacid monomers containing bulky pendant groups, 5-(9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarboximido)isophthalic acid(DEAIA) and 5-tert-butylisophthalic acid(teRT), with 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)dianiline(HFA) or 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine(Durene) by direct polycondensation. The structures of the obtained aromatic co-polyamides were confirmed by FTIR, Raman and 1 H-NMR. The co-copolyamide films, DHTH and DDTD, exhibited rms-roughness values between 0.94 and 1.60 nm, respectively. Moreover, they presented good thermal stability up to300 °C. Young's moduli of the co-polyamide films were between 4.1 and 4.3 GPa. X-ray diffraction results showed that the co-polyamide films were amorphous due to the incorporation of both bulky pendant groups, tert-butyl and dibenzobarrelene. The combination of bulky pendant groups provided intrinsically transparent co-polyamide films with a transmittance higher than 88% in the range of 400-780 *** to these outstanding film and optical properties, they are suggested to be flexible substrates in applications for solar cell and other portable electronic devices.
