Objective To evaluate the chemical composition and effects of Artemisia vulgaris(AV)hydroalcoholic extract(HEAV)on breast cancer cells(MCF-7 and SKBR-3),chronic myeloid leukemia(K562)and NIH/3T3 fibroblasts.Methods Phytochemical analysis of HEAV was done by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass(HPLC)spectrometry.Viability and cell death studies were performed using trypan blue and Annexin/FITC-7AAD,respectively.Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1)and necrostatin-1(Nec-1)were used to assess the mode of HEAV-induced cell death and acetoxymethylester(BAPTA-AM)was used to verify the involvement of cytosolic calcium in this event.Cytosolic calcium measurements were made using Fura-2-AM.Results HEAV decreased the viability of MCF-7,SKBR-3 and K562 cells(P<0.05).The viability of HEAV-treated K562 cells was reduced compared to HEAV-exposed fibroblasts(P<0.05).Treatment of K562 cells with HEAV induced cell death primarily by late apoptosis and necrosis in assays using annexin V-FITC/7-AAD(P<0.05).The use of Nec-1 and Fer-1 increased the viability of K562 cells treated with HEAV relative to cells exposed to HEAV alone(P<0.01).HEAV-induced Ca^(2+)release mainly from lysosomes in K562 cells(P<0.01).Furthermore,BAPTA-AM,an intracellular Ca^(2+)chelator,decreased the number of non-viable cells treated with HEAV(P<0.05).Conclusions HEAV is cytotoxic and activates several modalities of cell death,which are partially dependent on lysosomal release of Ca^(2+).These effects may be related to artemisinin and caffeoylquinic acids,the main compounds identified in HEAV.

Intestinal ultrasound(IUS)is a non-invasive,real-time,cross-sectional imaging tool that can be used at the point-of-care to assess disease activity in patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.IUS promotes quick and impactful treatment decisions that can modify disease progression and enhance patient compliance.This review will summarize the technical aspects of IUS,the evidence to support the use of IUS in disease activity monitoring,the comparison of IUS to current standard of care monitoring modalities such as colonoscopy and calprotectin,and the optimal positioning of IUS in a tight-control monitoring strategy.

Spices are defined as any aromatic condiment of plant origin used to alter the flavor and aroma of foods. Besides flavor and aroma, many spices have antioxidant activity, mainly related to the presence in cloves of phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids, terpenoids and eugenol. In turn, the most common uses of gum arabic are in the form of powder for addition to soft drink syrups, cuisine and baked goods, specifically to stabilize the texture of products, increase the viscosity of liquids and promote the leavening of baked products (e.g., cakes). Both eugenol, extracted from cloves, and gum arabic, extracted from the hardened sap of two species of the Acacia tree, are dietary constituents routinely consumed virtually throughout the world. Both of them are also widely used medicinally to inhibit oxidative stress and genotoxicity. The prevention arm of the study included groups: Ia, IIa, IIIa, Iva, V, VI, VII, VIII. Once a week for 20 weeks, the controls received saline s.c. while the experimental groups received DMH at 20 mg/kg s.c. During the same period and for an additional 9 weeks, the animals received either water, 10% GA, EUG, or 10% GA + EUG by gavage. The treatment arm of the study included groups Ib, IIb, IIIb e IVb, IX, X, XI, XII). Once a week for 20 weeks, the controls received saline s.c. while the experimental groups received DMH at 20 mg/kg s.c. During the subsequent 9 weeks, the animals received either water, 10% GA, EUG or 10% GA + EUG by gavage. The novelty of this study is the investigation of their use alone and together for the prevention and treatment of experimental colorectal carcinogenesis induced by dimethylhydrazine. Our results show that the combined use of 10% gum arabic and eugenol was effective, with antioxidant action in the colon, as well as reducing oxidative stress in all colon segments and preventing and treating genotoxicity in all colon segments. Numerical modeling of local scour of non-uniform graded sediment for two arrangements of pile groups

A three-dimensional(3D) non-hydrostatic numerical model is established to investigate local scour around four aligned circular piles in uniform and non-uniform sediment mixtures and to provide information for improving scour countermeasures design. In the current study, unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes(URANS) equations along with a Re-normalization Group(RNG) k-ε model were applied to simulate the flow field. A non-uniform sediment transport model was applied to estimate the bedload transport. The simulations lasted up to 8 h. The laboratory results of a reference single pile case in uniform and non-uniform sediment were utilized to validate the simulation results of bed elevation changes and time evolution of scour depth and reflected a good agreement. The influence of pile spacing for two arrangements of pile groups, one column(tandem) and two columns(nontandem) of four aligned piles, on spatial/temporal variations of the bed surface in both sediment bed configurations are discussed in detail. The results reveal the significant effects of the pile spacing on the flow field and patterns of scour hole formation and sediment deposition. In general, lower pile spacing results in more scour upstream of the front pile(s) and shifts deposition more downstream due to the existence of higher energy in the wake region of the piles for both sediment types. Side scouring dominates for non-uniform sediment around each pile due to flow deviating because of the presence of relatively larger particles in front of the pile(s). For non-uniform sediment, deposition begins to develop at the exit area of the scour hole and enhances boundary resistance to scour. The knowledge gained from this study is suitable for the accurate determination of riprap dimensions around the front pile(s)and rear piles in a pile group.

The concept of evidence-based practice has persisted over several years and remains a cornerstone in clinical practice,representing the gold standard for optimal patient care.However,despite widespread recognition of its significance,practical application faces various challenges and barriers,including a lack of skills in interpreting studies,limited resources,time constraints,linguistic competencies,and more.Recently,we have witnessed the emergence of a groundbreaking technological revolution known as artificial intelligence.Although artificial intelligence has become increasingly integrated into our daily lives,some reluctance persists among certain segments of the public.This article explores the potential of artificial intelligence as a solution to some of the main barriers encountered in the application of evidence-based practice.It highlights how artificial intelligence can assist in staying updated with the latest evidence,enhancing clinical decision-making,addressing patient misinformation,and mitigating time constraints in clinical practice.The integration of artificial intelligence into evidence-based practice has the potential to revolutionize healthcare,leading to more precise diagnoses,personalized treatment plans,and improved doctor-patient interactions.This proposed synergy between evidencebased practice and artificial intelligence may necessitate adjustments to its core concept,heralding a new era in healthcare.

Magnetism and spin-orbit coupling are two fundamental and interconnected properties of oxide materials,that can give rise to various topological transport phenomena,including anomalous Hall and anomalous Nernst effects.These transport responses can be significantly enhanced by designing an electronic structure with a large Berry curvature.In this context,rocksalt-ordered double perovskites(DP),denoted as A2BB’O6,with two distinct transition metal sites are very powerful platforms for exploration and research.In this work,we present a comprehensive study based on the intrinsic anomalous transport in cubic and tetragonal stable DP compounds with 3d-4d/5d elements.Our findings reveal that certain DP compounds show a large anomalous Hall effect,displaying topological band crossings in the proximity of the Fermi energy.

The Middle Ages is not characterized by recognition of women’s rights and its spreading in the world history.From the women of different parts of the world,only the nobles and the king’s children enjoyed all human rights and privileges.Georgia was no exception as well;in the 12th-16th centuries feudalism was the governing system in Georgia and the women’s rights and,in general,rights of human beings were rarely discussed.But in the 12th century in Georgia,the country located in Eastern Europe and South Caucasia,a very interesting fact occurred:unusually for Georgia,a woman became the ruler of the country.It was the first case,when a woman became King of Georgia.She was Tamar.She ruled in 1184-1213.Ruling of Queen Tamar has radically changed the direction of history of Georgia forever.Only the period of her ruling is named“Golden Age”in the history of Georgia.During the period of her ruling,completely unusual decisions were made,that were unusual even for the world of that time:(1).Death penalty was abolished!(2).An authority similar to modern Parliament was formed_so-called Kutlu Arslan Dasi.The King took into account the decisions made by this authority.This fact was evaluated in the history of the world history as the point of reference of the history of Parliamentarism.(3).Georgia was the first country in the world,where a civil war occurred.The peasants’demonstrations of that time are very well studied by law specialists and,considering all criteria,they were assessed as Civil War.We think that Queen Tamar was a leader and a successful female diplomat,whom the whole world should know well.Georgians refer to Tamar as a King(not a Queen).But,in this article we will refer to her as a Queen to highlight her diplomatic skills.

Recent years are showing a rapid adoption of digital manufacturing techniques to the construction industry,with a focus on additive manufacturing.Although 3D printing for construction(3DPC)has notably advanced in recent years,publications on the subject are recent and date a growth in 2019,indicating that it is a promising technology as it enables greater efficiency with fair consumption of material,minimization of waste generation,encouraging the construction industrialization and enhancing and accelerating the constructive process.This new building system not only gives an optimization of the building process but provides a new approach to the building design materiality.The direct connection between design and manufacturing allows the reduction in the number of the various construction phases needed.It is opening a new and wide range of options both formal and chromatic in customization,avoiding complex formworks,reducing costs and manufacturing time.The creative process has a strict and direct link with the constructive process,straightening design with its materiality.Cement-based materials lead the way,but new alternatives are being explored to further reduce its carbon footprint.In order to leverage its sustainability and enhance the system capacity,initiatives are being pursued to allow the reduction of the use of PC.Geopolimers are taking the first steps in 3DPC.Construction and Demolition Waste(CDW)materials are used to substitute natural aggregates.Even soil is being explored has a structural and aesthetic material.These research trends are opening a wider range of possibilities for architecture and design,broadening the spectrum of color,texture,and formal variations.The concern about textures and colours is not yet evident in many the structures already printed,opening the opportunity for future research.More can be done in the mixture and formal design of this building system,“discovering”other raw materials in others waste.This article aims to make a critical review of technologies,materials and me

The present work deals with Turkey’s Caucasian policy at the modern stage,from about 2000 to 2020.During this period,the Republic of Turkey has revealed a number of interesting initiatives in the South Caucasus,and we think their study is interesting both in terms of understanding Turkish foreign policy and in analyzing the ongoing processes in the South Caucasus.Since its establishment the Republic of Turkey has been interested in having intensive relations with the countries of the South Caucasus.Consequently,Turkey’s South Caucasus policy is constantly being elaborated by Turkish diplomats,scholars,and analysts.You will find many significant details in the studies or evaluations that are public and available to scientists.These works reveal a great effort of Turkey to successfully develop the South Caucasus policy.We note here that this policy works successfully in many components.We have reviewed the works of all the leading authors who write very interestingly about Turkey’s Caucasus policy.
