Effects of plant density and mepiquat chloride application on cotton boll setting in wheat–cotton double cropping system

Sowing cotton directly after harvesting wheat in the Yangtze River Valley of China requires early mature of cotton without yield ***-setting period synchronisation and more yield bolls distributed at the upper and middle canopy layers are also required for *** objective of this study is to quantify the individual and interaction effects of plant density and plant growth regulator mepiquat chloride(MC)on temporal and spatial distributions of yield bolls,as well as yield and yield *** the 2013–2016 cotton growing seasons,the experiments were conducted on a shortseason cotton cultivar CRRI50 at Yangzhou University,*** combinations of plant density(12.0,13.5 and 15.0 plants m^(–2))and MC dose(180,270 and 360 g ha^(–1))were applied on cotton *** combination of 13.5 plants m^(–2)and 270 g ha^(–1)MC resulted in the greatest boll number per unit area,the highest daily boll setting number and more than 90%of bolls positioned within 45–80 cm above the *** conclusion,appropriate MC dose in combination of high plant density could synchronize boll-setting period and retain more bolls at the upper and middle canopy layers without yield reduction in the system of direct-seeded cotton after wheat harvest,and thus overcome the labor-intensive problem in current transplanting cropping system.

Stoichiometric MgAl2O4 spinel nanoparticles were synthesized by microwave assisted combustion reaction from aluminium nitrate nanohydrate(Al(NO3)3.9H2O) and Sol-Gel prepared magnesium hydroxide(Mg(OH)2) in the presence of urea((NH2)2CO) as a fuel,in about 20 min of irradiation.X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies reveal that mi-crowave assisted combustion synthesis route yields single-phase spinel nanoparticles with larger crystalline size(around 75 nm) than other conventional heating *** electronic microscope(SEM) images show nanoparticles with spherical shape and homogenous *** surface area measurements(SBET) show crystals with 2.11 m2/g and 0.0033 mL/g pore volume.

All carbon non-covalent exohedral hybrids:C60 aggregates on nanotube networks

Exohedral van der Waals （vdW） hybrids comprising pristine carbon nanotubes （CNTs） and C60 fullerenes are expected to enable the engineering of carbonaceous materials with tunable physical and chemical properties due to the unperturbed sp2 hybridization of the comprising allotropes. In spite of theoretical predictions, experimental realization of exohedral non-covalent hybridization of unmodified C60 fullerenes and CNTs was not reported before, probably due to the relatively strong inter-fullerene and inter-tube interactions that drive the system toward phase separation and the formation of fullerene crystals and CNTs bundles. Here we describe a two-step process for preparation of C60-CNTs hybrids. The first step is based on solution-assembly of random, 3D-networks of individual, pristine CNTs followed by fast solvent-quenching. In the second step sublimated fullerenes are deposited onto the pre-assembled networks where structural defects serve as nucleation points for fullerite nanocrystals. Annealing at low temperature （80 ℃） results in re-organization of the C6o nanocrystals into nanometric layers, forming a CNT-C6o core-shell like cylindrical hybrids. Raman characterization and the observed high mobility of the fullerenes at the CNT surface support the assumption that the exohedral hybrids are of vdW type. The approach presented here offers a pathway for preparation of exohedral hybrids with controlled nano- morphology： CNTs-networks decorated by nanometric C60 crystals and CNTs-3D-networks coated by a shell of non-covalently bonded mono- or multi-layers of C60 molecules that may serve to shape the nanomorphology of the active layer in polymer-fullerene bulk-heterojunction solar cells.

Reduced square Bacillus thuringiensis insecticidal protein content of transgenic cotton under N deficit

To clarify the effect of the N deficit on the amount of square Bt insecticidal protein, different N application rates(0, 75, 150, 225, and 300 kg ha^–1) were imposed on the conventional cultivar Sikang 1(SK-1) and hybrid cultivar Sikang 3(SK-3) during 2015–2016 cotton growth seasons. Under different N application rates, the square number per plant, square volume and square dry weight reduced when the N rates decreased from conventional rate(300 kg ha^–1) to 0 kg ha^–1. And the square Bt protein content decreased accordingly. The analysis of N metabolism showed that soluble protein content, GPT and GOT activities decreased, free amino acid, peptidase and protease activities increased under N deficit. Correlation analysis indicated that the reduced Bt protein content under N deficit was related to altered N metabolism. In conclusion, square development and the amount of square Bt toxin both decreased under N deficit, indicating that promoting the square development under appropriate N application rate would also promote the insect resistance during squaring stage.

Effects of Zataria oxymel on obesity, insulin resistance and lipid profile:A randomized, controlled, triple-blind trial

Background: Obesity is a major public health problem and its occurrence is markedly increasing in developed and developing countries. However, few studies have investigated the use of natural products to treat obesity. The effects of taking a combination of oxymel and Zataria multiflora Boiss.(ZM), herein referred to as Zataria oxymel(ZO), on obesity, lipid profile and insulin resistance have not yet been ***: This study evaluates the effects of oxymel and ZO on obesity, lipid profile and insulin ***, setting, participants and interventions: In this randomized, controlled, triple-blind trial, overweight patients were randomly divided into three groups and received doses of study compounds twice per day for twelve weeks. Group A received 0.75 g ZM in 10 mL oxymel in each treatment;group B received 1.5 g ZM in 10 m L of oxymel in each treatment and group C(control) only received 10 mL of oxymel in each *** outcome measures: Anthropometric parameters, including body mass index(BMI), waist circumference and hip circumference, were measured at the time of registration. Blood tests were carried out at the beginning and once again at end of the study. Blood parameters included fasting blood sugar(FBS), insulin levels, serum lipid profile(total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol) and liver enzymes(aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase).Serum creatinine was also measured at the beginning of the project and in monthly intervals for three months. The homeostasis model assessment index was calculated as fasting insulin(μIU/mL)×FBS(mg/dL)/***: The results showed that patients receiving ZO experienced significant reduction in waist circumference in groups A, B and C, respectively(P < 0.001) but no significant change in BMI. Methods:In this study,field specimens of the gerbil were collected from all its geographical rang in northeast and central parts of Iran and identified on basis of morphological ***:Results revealed presence of two subspecies of *** sodalis and R. opimus sargadensis in the *** first subspecies with brown to hazel-nut color and a size bigger than a typical *** was found only in Golestan province,an isolated colony which is located in plains of north slopes of Alborz Chain Mountains of the country,connected with the *** subspecies of *** sargadensis with a yellowish color and similar size as a typical *** was found in all other areas of the great gerbil distribution in *** was a distinct topographic difference but similar ectoparasites between colonies of the two subspecies in the study ***:Further ecological and genetic investigations are required for more detailed description of the *** subspecies range and *** *** papatasi-Leishmania major association and the ZCL severity and outcome in hosts are discussed.

Electro-oxidation of paracetamol in the presence of malononitrile:Application for green,efficient,none-catalyst,simple and one-pot electro-synthesis of new paracetamols

Electrochemical oxidation of paracetamol has been studied in the presence of malononitrile as a nucleophile in a phosphate buffer solution （0.15 tool/L, pH 7）, using cyclic voltammetric techniques. The results indicated that the N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone-imine derived from paracetamol participates in a 1,4-Michael-ts, pe addition reaction with the malononitrile to form the corresponding paracetamol derivatives （6a, 7a）. The present study has led to the development of a simple, green, non-catalyst and one-pot electrochemical method with high atom economy under mild conditions.

Robotic cardiac surgery training during residency: Preparing residents for the inevitable future

Unlike other surgical residency training programs including thoracic surgery, robotic cardiac surgery skilltraining is minimal or absent in residency curricula. A review was conducted to identify residents'exposure to robotic cardiac surgery training based on databases including PubMed, MEDLINE and GoogleScholar. Published papers and cardiothoracic surgical societies with robotic cardiac surgery trainingcourses were reviewed. Robotic cardiac surgery training for residents is almost non-existent. Strategies toestablish proper robotic cardiac surgical training for residents include implementing simulation training,implementing hour requirements and establishing wet/dry lab model training in a progressive *** robot-assisted cardiac surgery becomes increasingly commonplace, it will be imperative to providetraining for residents with dedicated opportunities to develop their skills in robotic cardiac surgery.
