Objectives:The arrival of cancer in adolescents and young adults(aged 15 to 24 years)-Adolescents and young adults(AJA)-corresponds to a fragile period during which the adulthood of the young person and the evolution of family ties mobilize the family as a ***,cancer,beyond its individual traumatic dimension,affects the whole family,which can modify family ties and family *** objective is to evaluate family functioning from the complex model evaluating cohesion and adaptability when an adolescent or young adult has ***:Adolescents and young adults with cancer(n=41),mothers(n=41),and fathers(n=13)participated in this *** completed the Family Adaptation and Cohesion Scales(FACES Ⅲ)*** functioning when an aya is ill has been compared to that of families without any ***:a comparison of the mean scores of perceived cohesion and adaptability of face Ⅲ indicates no significant difference for *** contrast,the averages of the adaptability scores of our sample with those of the general population indicate that families with cancer hais generally feel more“adaptable”than the non-clinical *** results are statistically significant for AJA,but also for mothers and *** the mean scores of ideal cohesion and ideal adaptability,there are no significant differences between fathers in our sample and fathers in the general *** contrast,mothers in our sample had less ideal adaptability than those in the general *** aya patients with cancer,the scores of both adaptability and cohesion were significantly different from those of non-diseased ***:Cancer leads to many changes in family relationships,making it difficult to empower the young patient and latent the evolution of the relationship.

The combustion of coal and/or biomass （sludge, wood waste, RDF, etc.） in a circulating fluidized bed has been a commercial topper for over 20 years, and references to principles and applications are numerous and widespread although few data are presented concerning the operation of large scale CFB-units. The authors studied the CFB-combustion at UPM-Kymmene （Ayr）, a major paper mill relying for its steam production upon the combustion of coal （80-85 %）, wood bark （5-10%） and wastewater treatment sludge （5-10%）. The maximum capacity of the CFB is 58 MWth. A complete diagnostic of the operation was made, and additional tests were performed to assess the operating mode. The plant schematics, relevant dimensions and process data are given. To assess the operation of the UPM-CFB, it is important to review essential design parameters and principles of CFB combustors, which will be discussed in detail to include required data, heat balance and flowrates, operating versus transport velocity, kinetics and conversion （including the possible effect of the Bouduard reaction if carbon is present）. Since the residence time in the riser and the cyclone efficiency determine the burnout of circulating fuel-particles, the UPM-CFB was subjected to a stimulus response technique using nickel oxide as tracer. Results illustrate the efficiency of the cyclone separation and the number of recycle loops for particles of a given size. Results will also be used to assess the cyclone operation and efficiency and to comment upon expected and measured carbon conversion.

Most of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),are diagnosed at an advanced-stage explaining the poor prognosis of this cancer with a median survival without treatment around 8 months(1-3).Currently,two systemic multi-kinase inhibitors with anti-proliferative and antiangiogenic effects are available as first line treatments in advanced *** first one,Sorafenib,was the only available systemic treatment available during one decade and was associated with an improvement of overall survival of around 3 months compared to placebo(4,5).The second one,lenvatinib,showed a similar median overall survival compared to Sorafenib in a non-inferiority phase-3 trial(6).No second line was available during several years due to toxicity or absence of efficacy of the different drugs tested in multicentric phase 3 randomized controlled trials.

This paper summarizes the work held at the Cancéropôle Ile-de-France's annual SHS research seminar on the theme:Pluridisciplinarity and methods for SHS research in thefield of *** clarifying the concepts of pluri-,inter-,and transdisciplinarité,it aimed to describe how this type of research is carried out in practice,addressing successively:the role of stakeholders and their respective positions,the need for a shared language,the various temporalities involved and task sharing,the interview and analysis methods as well as the implication of *** highlighted the personal qualities required to practice this type of research,such as psychologicalﬂexibility and adaptability,a strong desire for collaborative work,acceptance of risk,and a humble stance.

Due to concomitant changes in pro-and anti-coagulant mechanisms,patients with liver dysfunction have a“rebalanced hemostasis”,which can easily be tipped toward either a hypo-or a hypercoagulable *** are often faced with the question whether patients with chronic liver disease undergoing invasive procedures or surgery and those having active bleeding require correction of the hemostasis *** coagulation screening tests,such as the prothrombin time/international normalized ratio and the activated partial thromboplastin time have been demonstrated to have numerous limitations in these patients and do not predict the risk of bleeding prior to high-risk *** introduction of global coagulation assays,such as viscoelastic testing(VET),has been an important step forward in the assessment of the overall hemostasis profile.A growing body of evidence now suggests that the use of VET might be of significant clinical utility to prevent unnecessary infusion of blood products and to improve outcomes in numerous *** present review discusses the advantages and caveats of both conventional and global coagulation assays to assess the risk of bleeding in patients with chronic liver disease as well as the current role of transfusion and hemostatic agents to prevent or manage bleeding.

BACKGROUND For optimizing fecal immunochemical test(FIT)-based screening programs,reducing the rate of missed colorectal cancers(CRCs)by FIT(FIT-interval CRCs)is an important *** of the molecular make-up of these missed lesions could facilitate more accurate detection of all(precursor)*** To compare the molecular make-up of FIT-interval CRCs to lesions that are detected by FIT[screen-detected CRCs(SD-CRCs)].METHODS FIT-interval CRCs observed in a Dutch pilot-program of FIT-based screening were compared to a control group of SD-CRCs in a 1:2 ratio,resulting in 27 FIT-interval CRC and 54 *** analyses included microsatellite instability(MSI),CpG island methylator phenotype(CIMP),DNA sequence mutations and copy number alterations(CNAs).RESULTS Although no significant differences were reached,FIT-interval CRCs were more often CIMP positive and MSI positive(33%CIMP in FIT-interval CRCs vs 21%in SD-CRCs(P=0.274);19%MSI in FIT-interval CRCs vs 12%in SD-CRCs(P=0.469)),and showed more often serrated pathway associated features such as BRAF(30%vs 12%,P=0.090)and PTEN(15%vs 2.4%,P=0.063)*** mutations,a classic feature of the adenoma-carcinoma-sequence,were more abundant in SD-CRCs(68%vs 40%in FIT-interval CRCs P=0.035).Regarding CNAs differences between the two groups;FIT-interval CRCs less often showed gains at the regions 8p11.22-q24.3(P=0.009),and more often gains at 20p13-p12.1(P=0.039).CONCLUSION Serrated pathway associated molecular features seem to be more common in FIT-interval CRCs,while classic adenoma carcinoma pathway associated molecular features seem to be more common in *** indicates that proximal serrated lesions may be overrepresented among FITinterval CRCs.

Instrumented and Vickers Indentation for the Characterization of Stiffness,Hardness and Toughness of Zirconia Toughened Al_2O_3 and SiC Armor

Instrumented and Vickers indentation testing and microstructure analysis were used to investigate zirconia toughened alumina （ZTA） and silicon carbide （SIC）. Several equations were studied to relate the Vickers indentation hardness, Young＇s modulus and crack behavior to the fracture toughness. The frac- ture in SiC is unstable and occurs primarily by cleavage leading to a relatively low toughness of 3 MPa m1/2, which may be inappropriate for multi-hit capability. ZTA absorbs energy by plastic deformation, pore collapse, crack deviation and crack bridging and exhibits time dependent creep. With a relatively high toughness around 6.6 MPa m1/2, ZTA is promising for multi-hit capability. The higher accuracy of median equations in calculating the indentation fracture toughness and the relatively high c/a ratios above 2.5 suggest median type cracking for both SiC and ZTA. The Young＇s modulus of both ceramics was most accurately measured at lower indentation loads of about 0.5 kgf, while more accurate hardness and fracture toughness values were obtained at intermediate and at higher indentation loads beyond 5 kgf, respectively. A strong indentation size effect （ISE） was observed in both materials. The load independent hardness of SiC is 2563 HV, putting it far above the standard armor hardness requirement of 1500 HV that is barely met by ZTA.

Introduction:The persistence of generalists and specialists is a topical question in community ecology and results from both ecological and evolutionary *** fine taxonomical scales,ecological specialisation,*** preferentially exploiting a subset of available habitats,is thought to be a driver promoting niche *** is not clear,however,how different mechanisms interact to shape specialist-generalist ***:We reconstruct the structure of five bacteria-phage networks from soil isolates,and perform an analysis of the relationships between host phylogenetic diversity,parasite specialism,and parasite ***:We show that the co-occurrence of species on a continuum of specialism/generalism is influenced by niche overlap,phage impact on bacterial hosts,and host phylogenetic *** addition,using a null-model analysis we show that infection strategies of the phages have more explanatory power than bacterial defenses on key structural features of these antagonistic ***:We report that generalists have more impact on their hosts than specialists,even when the phylogenetic heterogeneity of hosts is controlled *** discuss our results in the light of their implications for the evolution of biotic interactions.
