Synthesis of N1-3-{（4-substitute daryl-3-chloro-2-oxo-azetidine）-iminocarbamyl}-propyl-6-nitroindazole 4a-- 4s was conducted by a conventional method. All the compounds were synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FAB-Mass techniques and chemical methods. All the final synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity and antitubercular activity with MIC values against some selected microorganisms.

Conventional and microwave assisted synthesis of new series of N-[2-{2-（substituted phenyl）-4-oxo- 5-（substituted benzylidene）-1,3-thiazolidine}-iminoethyl]-2-aminothiazole 5a-Sin have been developed. The cycloaddition reaction of thioglycolic acid with N-{2-（substituted benzylidenehydrazino）-ethyl}-2-aminothiazole 3a--3m in the presence of anhydrous ZnC12 afforded new heterocyclic compounds N-[2-{2-（substituted phenyl）- 4-oxo-l,3-thiazolidine}-iminoethyl]-2-aminothiazole 4a---4m. The later product on treatment with several selected substituted aromatic aldehydes in the presence of C2HsONa undergoes k.oevenagel reaction to yield 5a--Sin. The structures of compounds 1, 2, 3a--3m, 4a---4m and 5a--Sm were confirmed by IR, IH NMR, 13C NMR, FAB-Mass and chemical analysis. All above compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities against some selected bacteria and fungi and antituberculosis study against M. tuberculosis.

Influence of Accompanying Anions on Potassium Retention and Leaching in Potato Growing Alluvial Soils

A column study was carried out to assess the influence of accompanying anions on potassium （k. leaching at potato growing sites with different soil textures （sandy loam and clay loam） in northwestern India. Potassium was applied in the top 15 cm layer of soil column at 30 and 60 mg k.k.-1 through different sources having different accompanying anions （CI-, SO^-, NO3 and H2PO4-）. Maximum k.was retained in the top 0-15 cm layer with a sharp decrease in k.content occurring in 15 30 cm layer of the soil column. The trend was similar for both levels of applied k.as well as frequency of leaching and soil type. The decrease of k.content in soil column after four leaching events was maximum in case of k.anaura sandy loam, while only minor decrease was observed in Hundowal clay loam when k.was applied at 60 mg k.k.-1, indicating higher potential of clay rich soil to adsorb k. In general, the k.leaching in presence of the accompanying anions followed the order of SO4^2-≤ H2PO42- 〈 NO3 = Cl-. Highest 1 mol·L^-1 CH3COONH4-extractable k.was retained when k.was applied along with SO4^2- and H2PO4 anions, and the least was retained when accompanying anion was Cl-. The influence of anions was more pronounced in the light textured soil and at high amounts of k.application. Higher levels of k.application resulted in higher losses of k. especially in sandy loam soil as observed from the leachate concentration. Among the different k.sources, the maximum amount of k.leaching was noticed in the soil column amended with k.1. After four leachings, the maximum amount of k.leached out was 6.40 mg L-1 in Hundowal clay loam and 9.29 mg L-1 in k.anaura sandy loam at 60 mg k.k.-1 of soil application through k.1. These concentrations were lower than the recommended guideline of the World Health Organisation （12.00 mg L-1）.

The special property of the actinide mass region is that nuclei belonging to this group are radioactive and undergo different ground state processes,such as alpha decay,cluster radioactivity(CR),heavy particle radioactivity(HPR),and spontaneous fission(SF).In this study,the probable radioactive decay modes of the heavy mass region(Z=89−102)are studied within the framework.of the preformed cluster model(PCM).In the PCM,the radioactive decay modes are explored in terms of the preformation probability(P0)and penetration probability(P)at the turning point Ra,where the penetration of fragments is initiated[Ra=RT(touching state)+ΔR(neck.length parameter)].First,the alpha decay half-lives are calculated for light and heavy nuclei,and Ra points are obtained by optimizing the neck.length *** Ra points are further employed to fix the Q-value dependent turning point(Ra(Q)).Then,using the(Ra(Q))relation,the decay half-lives are computed,and the calculated results are compared with the available theoretical and experimental *** isotopical trend of P0 and P is studied with respect to the mass number of the parent and daughter nucleus,*** CR and HPR channels are also explored,and a comparison of calculated data is conducted with the available *** analysis of the fragmentation potential and preformation probability is carried out for alpha decay and *** mass distribution of the nuclei is studied as a function of fragment mass(A2)by considering the spherical and hot-compact deformation of the decaying ***,the most probable fission fragments are identified using the fragmentation structure,and the corresponding fission fragment total k.netic energy of the identified fragments is calculated and compared with available data,wherever applicable.

This paper deals with the study of transient waves in a homogeneous isotropic,solid halfspace with a permeating substance in the context of the theory of generalized *** halfspace is assumed to be disturbed due to mechanical loads acting on its *** model comprising of basic governing differential equations and boundary conditions has been solved by employing Laplace transform *** that the second sound effects are short lived,the small time approximations of solution for various physical quantities have been obtained and the results are discussed on the possible wave *** case of continuous and periodic loads acting at the boundary,the displacement is found to be continuous at each wave front while it is discontinuous in case of impulsive *** temperature and concentration fields are found to be discontinuous at all the wave *** displacement,temperature change and concentration deviation due to impulsive,continuous and periodic mechanical loads have also been evaluated in the physical domain at all times by employing numerical inversion technique of integral *** computer simulated numerical results have been presented graphically in respect of displacement,temperature change and concentration deviation for brass.A significant effect of mass diffusion has been observed on the behaviour of mechanical and thermal waves.

Bamboo stumps as mosquito larval habitats in Darjeeling Himalayas, India： A spatial scale analysis

Bamboo stumps can be a congenial breeding habitat of the mosquitoes. In view of this, a preliminary assessment of the dipteran immatures inhabiting the stumps of bamboo groves in the Darjeeling Himalayas was carded out at a spatial scale. Of the 104 stumps of Dendrocalamus hamiltoni surveyed, 70 were found to host immatures of three dipteran species, the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Culex quinquefasciatus and the midges Chironomus sp. in varying densities. Though the stumps varied in diameter, in each stump on average 12. 1 immatures were found. The abundance of the immatures was positively correlated with the diameter of the stumps （r = ＋0.382; P 〈 0.001） but negatively with the pH of the water present in the stumps （r = -0.336; P 〈 0.01）. The coefficient of association was found to be ＋8.4 for the Ae. aegypti and Chironomus immatures, while in the rest of the species pair the association seemed to be independent. Thus it can be concluded that the stumps in the bamboo groves of Darjeeling Himalayas provides a favourable habitat for the mosquito and chironomid immatures.

Evaluation of Rainfall Tendency for the Twentieth Century over Indira Sagar Region in Central India

The study investigates long-term changes in annual and seasonal rainfall patterns in the Indira Sagar Region of Madhya Pradesh, India, from 1901 to 2010. Agriculture sustainability, food supply, natural resource development, and hydropower system reliability in the region rely heavily on monsoon rainfall. Monthly rainfall data from three stations (East Nimar, Barwani, and West Nimar) were analyzed. Initially, the pre-whitening method was applied to eliminate serial correlation effects from the rainfall data series. Subsequently, statistical trends in annual and seasonal rainfall were assessed using both parametric (student-t test) and non-parametric tests [Mann-k.ndall, Sen’s slope estimator, and Cumulative Sum (CUSUM)]. The magnitude of the rainfall trend was determined using Theil-Sen’s slope estimator. Spatial analysis of the Mann-k.ndall test on an annual basis revealed a statistically insignificant decreasing trend for Barwani and East Nimar and an increasing trend for West Nimar. On a seasonal basis, the monsoon season contributes a significant percentage (88.33%) to the total annual rainfall. The CUSUM test results indicated a shift change detection in annual rainfall data for Barwani in 1997, while shifts were observed in West and East Nimar stations in 1929. These findings offer valuable insights into regional rainfall behavior, aiding in the planning and management of water resources and ecological systems.

A Comparative Study between Landmark.Based and Real Time Ultrasound Guided Sub Arachnoid Block

Back.round: Sub arachnoid block.(SAB) performed by traditional landmark.palpation technique can be inaccurate. This problem is exacerbated by altered patient anatomy due to obesity and age-related changes. A pre-procedural ultrasound scan of the lumbar spine has been shown to be of benefit in guiding lumbar epidural insertion in obstetric patients. Information on the use of real-time ultrasound (RUS) guided SAB, to date, been limited. This study compared RUS guided SAB to traditional landmark.guided technique in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia for different surgical procedures. Methods: This was a prospective, single center, comparative observational study conducted in the department of anesthesiology at our center. 560 patients who underwent spinal anesthesia either by landmark.based technique or real-time ultrasound-guided methods. The primary outcome was the first attempt success rate of dural puncture when employing the two methods. Results: Baseline characteristics were similar in the two study groups. The first attempt success rate of dural puncture in landmark.guided group was 64.3% compared to 72.6% in the ultrasound guided group. This difference was not statistically significant. The procedure performance time was significantly shorter with landmark.palpation compared to use of real-time ultrasound guided method. Conclusion: Use of RUS-guided technique does not significantly improve the first attempt success rate of SAB dural puncture during spinal anesthesia compared to the traditional landmark.guided technique.

The Ce-Co-doped BiFeO3 multiferroic, Bi（1-x）Ce）xFe（1-x）CoxO3（x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.03, and 0.05）, has been prepared by a sol-gel auto-combustion method and analyzed through Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and UV-visible spectroscopy. We have observed an anomalous intensity of the second-order Raman mode at - 1260 cm^-1 in pure BFO and suppressed intensity in doped samples, which indicates the presence of spin two-phonon coupling in these *** photoluminescence spectra show reduction in the intensity of emission with the increasing dopant concentration, which indicates the high charge separation efficiency. A sharp absorption with three charge transfer（C-T） and two d-d transitions are shown by UV-visible spectra in the visible region. The band gap of BiFeO3（BFO） is decreasing with increasing dopant concentrations and the materials are suitable for photovoltaic applications.
