Hydrogen with high energy density is an environmental alternative to fossil fuels which can respond to the demand for energy considering environmental *** can be stored on porous materials employing physical interaction(*** process).The H2storage capacity of materials can be evaluated through electrochemical ***,a fast and straightforward approach was employed to fabricate magnesium oxide/chitosan/Au nanoparticles(Mg O/CS/Au)nanocomposites with porous structure for electrochemical hydrogen ***,laser ablation in water as a fast and green method was utilized to obtain Au nanoparticles(Au NPs).The obtained Au NPs were loaded on Mg O/CS nanocomposite through physical *** and morphological investigation of nanocomposites display spherically shaped Au NPs with a diameter of 49–58 nm agglomerated on the Mg O/*** casting,the fast and cost-effective method was deployed to deposit the benign,and reusable Mg O/CS/Au-x(x is Au NPs weight percentage of 1,3 and 5 wt.%)nanocomposites on stainless steel mesh and their electrochemical hydrogen storage were measured by cyclic voltammetry(CV),indicating good stability and significant hydrogen storage capacity(28 C/g)after 300 CV scans for MgO/CS/Au-1 sample.

The field of 2-dimensional (2D) materials has witnessed a sharp growth since its inception and can majorly be attributed to the substantial technical and scientific developments, leading to significant improvements in their syntheses, characterization and applications. In the list of 2D materials, the relatively newer addition is phosphorene, which ideally consists of a single layer of black phosphorous. Keeping in mind the past, and ongoing research activities, this short account offers a brief overview of the present status and the associated challenges in the field of phosphorene-related research, with special emphasis on their syntheses, properties, applications and future opportunities.

Modified Single Phase SRF d-q Theory based Controller for DVR Mitigating Voltage Sag in Case of Nonlinear Load

This paper mainly concentrates on design of improved controller and its implementation based on single phase synchronous reference frame theory (SRFT) for Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) compensating voltage sag particularly for nonlinear load. In case of single phase distribution line with nonlinear load, the complexity of controller’s design becomes more serious issue. The present single phase and/or three phase theories applicable to DVR shows poor response to restore voltage sag in case of nonlinear load due to presence of harmonics. Hence restoration of voltage sag in single phase nonlinear load connected system has been a serious concern. Therefore, new controller for DVR has been proposed incorporating effective design concept for fundamental component extraction in case of nonlinear load. The single phase SRFT based main controller for DVR works on two separate closed path viz. feed forward path for quick transient response and feedback path for reducing the steady state error. Moreover, pre-sag mitigation strategy of DVR has been adapted through these two aforementioned paths. Complete design of proposed controller is based on phasor analysis. It also consist of proportional integral (PI) controller to reduce the error in the DC-link voltage during compensation time. The controller performance has been verified in MATLAb Simulink for both types (linear and nonlinear) of load. The results obtained indicates that the proposed controller is effective in its performance.

To evaluate the role of platelet-rich plasma in healing of acute diaphyseal fractures of the femur

ObJECTIVE:New research is focusing on the use of autologous growth factors to increase the effect of bone fracture healing while decreasing the amount of healing time for the patient. Platelets have been demonstrated to be the natural storage vessel for several growth factors and cytokines that promote blood coagulation, tissue repair, and the process of bone mineralization. The present study aims to evaluate the role of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in healing of acute femoral shaft fractures radiologically. We hypothesize that it provides artificial hematoma and releases various growth factors.;METHODS:This prospective randomized study was carried out in 72 patients of traumatic fracture of the femoral shaft operated with interlocking nails (closed or open). Patients were divided into two groups: study group A (n = 33) treated with intramedullary nailing & PRP injection/gel application in the same setting; and control group b (n = 39) treated with intramedullary nailing without PRP application. both groups were further divided into two subgroups. Study group included subgroup A1 (n = 14) operated with closed intramedullary nailing and PRP injection at the fracture site under radiological control, and subgroup A2 (n = 19) operated with open intramedullary nailing and PRP gel along with fibrin membrane application at the fracture site; while control group included subgroup b1 (n = 16) operated with closed intramedullary nailing, and subgroup b2 (n = 23) operated with open intramedullary nailing. Radiological assessment of fracture healing was done by measuring the cortex to callus ratio every month till union at 6 months.;RESULTS:Measurements of mean cortex to callus ratio revealed significant difference between the groups A & b at third and fourth months. Measurements of mean cortex to callus ratio did not reveal significant difference between the subgroups at first and sixth months. Effect of Shape of the Absorber Surface on the Performance of Stepped Type Solar Still

In this work, we have selected three number of stepped type solar stills of the same overall dimensions 620 mm (W) × 808 mm (L) but with different absorber surface areas due to the variation in the shape of the basin surface. The other design parameters like depth of water, thickness of glass cover, insulation thickness, type of condensing cover, absorbing material provided over the basin, and angle of inclination of the still were kept constant to study the effect of shape of the absorber surface over the distillate yield obtained. The shape of the absorber surface provided in the basins of solar stills A, E and F was flat, convex and concave respectively. When the convex and concave type stepped solar stills are used, the average daily water production has been found to be 56.60% and 29.24% higher than that of flat type stepped solar still respectively. Also an economic analysis was made. The payback period of flat type, convex type and concave type stepped solar still is 823 days, 525 days and 637 days respectively. Thus, the convex type solar still gives the returns within the least possible time as compared to other two types of stepped solar stills. The laboratory tests were conducted to test the quality of water after distillation. The tests indicate that the quality of water in terms of pH, electrical conductivity, total hardness, TDS, Alkalinity, Nitrates etc. is well within the desirable limits as prescribed by WHO for Indian specific conditions.

Finite Element Analysis of Dynamic Damper for CV Joint

Constant Velocity [CV] Joints are one of the most important components of front wheel drive axles. It is subjected to various stresses such as bending stress, shear stress and bearing stress. Apart from these stresses, it is also subjected to vibrations, due to out of balance tire or wheel and an out of round tire or wheel, or a bent rim. The main objective of this work is to reduce the stiffness of the damper, so that the damper can withstand within the required constraints [i.e. the forced frequency range of 80 Hz to 150 Hz]. The free vibrational and forced vibrational effects are investigated to predict the resonance phenomenon of the damper. Finite Element Analysis in ANSYS-11 software was performed to predict the dynamic behavior of the system under the required vibrational frequencies ranging from 80 Hz to 150 Hz at given loading conditions.

Design and Development of Shell &Tube Heat Exchanger for beverage

In the first part of this paper, a simplified approach to design a Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger [STHE] for beverage and process industry application is presented. The design of STHE includes thermal design and mechanical design. The thermal design of STHE involves evaluation of required effective surface area (i.e. number of tubes) and finding out log mean temperature difference [LMTD]. Whereas, the mechanical design includes the design of main shell under internal & external pressure, tube design, baffles design gasket, etc. The design was carried out by referring ASME/TEMA standards, available at the company. The complete design, fabrication, testing and analysis work was carried out at Alfa Laval (India), Ltd., Pune-12. In the second part of this paper detail view of design optimization is presented by flow induced vibration analysis [FVA].

In this paper a simplified approach to optimize the design of Shell Tube Heat Exchanger [STHE] by flow induced vibration analysis [FVA] is presented. The vibration analysis of STHE helps in achieving optimization in design by prevention of tube failure caused due to flow induced vibration. The main reason for tube failure due to flow induced vibration is increased size of STHE. It is found that in case of increased size of STHE, the surface area and number of tubes increases, thus the understanding and analysis of vibration becomes a very difficult task. Again it is found that flow induced vibration analysis is considered as an integral part of mechanical & thermal design of STHE. The detailed design, fabrication, testing and analysis work was carried out at Alfa Laval (India), Ltd., Pune-10.
