Different rare earth substituted perovskites LaRExFe1-xO3(where RE=Eu3+,Gd3+,Dy3+,Nd3+and x=0.02,0.04,0.06,0.08,0.1)with orthorhombic structure and narrow band gaps were successfully fabricated via sol-gel autocombustion *** the substituted perovskites are found to exhibit excellent photocatalytic activity towards the oxidative degradation of dye *** excellent increase in the rate constant values of pure perovskite(LaFeO3)photocatalytic reactions is observed with the substitution of rare earth metal *** results are obtained for LaNd0.1Fe0.9O3 which exhibits around 7 times increase in the rate constant values for degradation reaction of SO(1.76×10-1 min-1)and RBY(1.69×10-1 min-1)dyes.

Excessive exploitation,negligence,non-degradable nature,and physical and chemical properties of plastic waste have resulted in a massive pollution load into the ***,plastic entres the food chain and can cause serious health issues in aquatic animals and *** present review summarizes currently reported techniques and approaches for the removal of plastic *** techniques,such as adsorption,coagulation,photocatalysis,and microbial degradation,and approaches like reduction,reuse and recycling are potentially in trend and differ from each other in their efficiency and interaction ***,substantial advantages and challenges associated with these techniques and approaches are highlighted to develop an understanding of the selection of possible ways for a sustainable ***,in addition to the reduction of plastic waste from the ecosystem,many alternative opportunities have also been explored to cash plastic *** fields include the synthesis of adsorbents for the removal of pollutants from aqueous and gaseous stream,their utility in clothing,waste to energy and fuel and in construction(road making).Substantial evidence can be observed in the reduction of plastic pollution from various *** addition,it is important to develop an understanding of factors that need to be emphasized while considering alternative approaches and opportunities to cash plastic waste(like adsorbent,clothing,waste to energy and fuel).The thrust of this review is to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the development status of techniques and approaches to overcome the global issue of plastic pollution and the outlook on the exploitation of this waste as resources.

BACKGROUND The NaV1.1 sodium channel alpha subunit,encoded by SCN1A,is crucial for initiating and propagating action potentials in ***1A gene has long been an established target in the etiology and therapy of ***,very few studies have investigated the relevance of genetic variations in epilepsy and anti-epileptic drug *** To investigate associations between polymorphisms,rs121917953 T/A and rs121918623 C/T,and drug resistance in epilepsy patients in the north Indian *** A total of 100 age-and sex-matched epilepsy patients(50 drug responsive and 50 drug resistant subjects)were recruited and SCN1A rs121918623 C/T*and rs121917953 T/A*polymorphisms were analyzed by the allele specific-PCR technique.χ^(2)and Fisher’s exact test were used to estimate differences between the distribution of SCN1A rs121918623 and rs121917953 gene polymorphisms among various *** association between distinct rs121917953 genotypes and drug resistance was analyzed using logistic regression *** For the SCN1A rs121917953 T/A*(D188V)polymorphism,a significantly higher proportion of individuals with AT genotype were observed in the drug-resistant group as compared to the drug-responsive ***,a higher risk association was exhibited by AT genotype for drug resistance with an odds ratio of 3.51 and P value=*** the SCN1A rs121918623 C/T*(T875M)polymorphism,no significant difference in genotype distribution was observed between the drug-resistant and drug-sensitive *** Our findings indicate that the SCN1A polymorphism D188V is associated with a higher risk of drug resistance for the AT variant as compared to the homozygous TT *** research is needed at the functional level and in larger cohorts to determine the potential of these genes as a therapeutic target in epilepsy subjects.

AIM:To evaluate functional outcome of sutureless scleral tunnel intraocular lens(SSTIOL)in children with crystalline lens subluxation of more than 7 clock ***:A prospective interventional study was conducted consisting of 45 eyes of 44 children in age group 6-18 y having>7 clock hours of lens subluxation who underwent lensectomy-vitrectomy followed by SSTIOL *** outcome was improvement in best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and secondary outcomes were assessment of intraocular lens(IOL)tilt using ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM),mean change in astigmatism at last follow-up of 1 y and associated ***:The mean preoperative and postoperative BCVA was 1.05±0.28 and 0.64±0.45(log MAR)respectively(P=0.001)at last *** mean astigmatism preoperatively and postoperatively was-4.17±2.69 D and-1.86±1.25 D respectively(P=0.011).Significant IOL tilt(>5 degrees)was present in 5 *** mean percentage endothelial loss was 3.65%±1.92%.The most serious complication encountered was retinal detachment seen in 2 ***:SSTIOL implantation provides efficient visual rehabilitation in children provided there is stringent case *** recommend caution in children having white-to-white distance>12 mm and presence of peripheral retinal degenerations.

AIM:To compare outcomes of conventional and Hangback methods of inferior oblique(IO)recession in V-pattern strabismus with inferior oblique overaction(IOOA).METHODS:Comparative randomized study was conducted consisting of 50 patients,age 6 to 35 y having V-pattern strabismus[>15 prism diopter(PD)]with *** were divided equally in two groups and underwent IO recession,group A by conventional method and group B by Hang-back *** evaluated were reduction in V-pattern and IOOA,shift in torsion,improvement in binocular *** was a residual V-pattern of less than 10 PD at 1 y of follow ***:The mean V-pattern preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 y was 24±5.4 PD and 4.2±3.51 PD in group A and 23.44±6.44 PD and 5.76±3.8 PD in group B *** mean reduction in V-pattern was 20±6.78 PD in group A and 18.2±5.48 PD in group *** mean correction of IOOA was 18.48±3.13 PD in group A and 16±2.93 PD in group *** shift in extorsion was 3.08±1.8 degree in group A and 3.72±2.14 degree in group ***:Both the procedures achieve a significant and comparable reduction in V-pattern and ***-back recession being a landmark free surgery eliminates the need for intrascleral suturing thereby reducing the risk of scleral perforation with possible postoperative adjustment of *** may be considered as a good alternative for IO recession in patients of V-pattern strabismus with mild to moderate amount of IOOA.

Dear Editor,We present a rare case report of orbital apex syndrome secondary to *** cysticercosis is caused by larval form(Cysticercus cellulosae)of Taenia *** cysts of Cysticercus cellulosae can lodge in the centralnervoussystem,muscles,subcutaneoustissue,or eye,resulting in varied clinical manifestations[1].This case highlights an unusual presentation of orbital apex syndrome secondary to cysticercosis of medial rectus.

This paper reports the comparative investigations of the structural and spectral properties of Y3Al5O12∶Eu3+ (YAG∶Eu) and Y3Al5O12∶Eu3+,Si4+ (YAG∶Eu,Si) phosphors synthesized by combustion method at low temperature.A pure phase was identified for the YAG∶Eu phosphor with a suitable amount of *** refinement and analytical calculation of different structural parameters were performed to get the idea about the SiO2 substitution in YAG∶*** characteristic red luminescence corresponding to Eu3+ transitions was observed after irradiation with ultra violet (UV) light and enhanced with SiO2 *** formula and nephelauxetic ratio were used to understand the ligand behavior of Eu-O bond in YAG doped *** Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters and color properties of the phosphors were determined in *** efficient synthesis method for YAG∶Eu phosphor,compatible for industrial applications,was proposed.

Transformation of Sucrose to Starch and Protein in Rice Leaves and Grains under Two Establishment Methods

Six rice varieties, PR120, PR116, Feng Ai Zan, PR115, PAU201 and Punjab Mehak 1 were raised under aerobic and transplanting conditions to assess the effects of planting conditions on sucrose metabolising enzymes in relation to the transformation of free sugars to starch and protein in flag leaves and grains. Activities of sucrose synthase, sucrose phosphate synthase and acid invertase increased till flowering stage in leaves and mid-milky stage（14 d after flowering） in grains and thereafter declined in concomitant with the contents of reducing sugar. Under aerobic conditions, the activities of acid invertase and sucrose synthase（cleavage） significantly decreased in conjunction with the decrease in non-reducing sugars and starch content in all the varieties. Disruption of starch biosynthesis under the influence of aerobic conditions in both leaves and grains and the higher build up of sugars possibly resulted in their favoured utilization in nitrogen metabolism. Feng Ai Zan, PR115 and PR120 maintained higher levels of sucrose synthase enzymes in grains and leaves and contents of metabolites（amino acid, protein and non-reducing sugar） under aerobic conditions, while PR116, Punjab Mehak 1 and PAU201 performed better under transplanting conditions, thus showing their adaptation to environmental stress. Yield gap between aerobic and transplanting rice is attributed primarily to the difference in sink activity and strength. Overall, it appear that up-regulation of sucrose synthase（synthesis） and sucrose phosphate synthase under aerobic conditions might be responsible in enhancing growth and productivity of rice varieties.

Device scaling is an important part of the very large scale integration （VLSI） design to boost up the success path of VLSI industry, which results in denser and faster integration of the devices. As technology node moves towards the very deep submicron region, leakage current and circuit reliability become the key issues. Both are increasing with the new technology generation and affecting the performance of the overall logic circuit. The VLSI designers must keep the balance in power dissipation and the circuit＇s performance with scaling of the devices. In this paper, different scaling methods are studied first. These scaling methods are used to identify the effects of those scaling methods on the power dissipation and propagation delay of the CMOS buffer circuit. For mitigating the power dissipation in scaled devices, we have proposed a reliable leakage reduction low power transmission gate （LPTG） approach and tested it on complementary metal oxide semiconductor （CMOS） buffer circuit. All simulation results are taken on HSPICE tool with Berkeley predictive technology model （BPTM） BSIM4 bulk CMOS files. The LPTG CMOS buffer reduces 95.16% power dissipation with 84.20% improvement in figure of merit at 32 nm technology node. Various process, voltage and temperature variations are analyzed for proving the robustness of the proposed approach. Leakage current uncertainty decreases from 0.91 to 0.43 in the CMOS buffer circuit that causes large circuit reliability.

Rapid socio-economic changes in some developing countries, including India, are creating new scopes for application of precision agriculture (PA). The implications of dramatic shifts for economic development, urbanization and energy consumption in some developing countries are immense. High-tech nature of traditional PA technologies developed in advanced countries created a real challenge for engineers to search suitable PA technologies for developing countries. It is expected that application of balanced soft and hard PA technologies based on the need of specific socio-economic condition of a country will make PA suitable for developing countries also. ‘Soft’ PA depends mainly on visual observation of crop and soil and management decision based on experience and intuition, rather than on statistical and scientific analysis. ‘Hard’ PA utilizes all modern technologies such as GPS, RS, and VRT. Three components, namely, ‘single PA technology’, ‘PA technology package’ (for the user to select one or combination) and ‘integrated PA technology’, have been identified as a part of adoption strategies of PA in the developing countries. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to find out the scope, the present status and the strategies for adoption of PA in India and in some developing countries. Application of PA in cash crop, plantation crop, etc. has been discussed. Application of some medium and low-tech PA tools such as chlorophyll meter and leaf colour chart. in small farms has been included. This exhaustive review of the present status of PA in India and in some developing countries is expected to help to find out the adoption trend and direction of future research. Detailed strategy for the adoption of PA in India has also been proposed.
