Molecular docking of amphetamine,cathine and cathinone with dihydrofolate reductase:a computational analysis of inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase by khat alkaloids

Interaction of amphetamine,cathine and cathinone with the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase was studied by molecular docking using AutoDock 4.2 as the docking software *** 4.2 software serves as a valid and acceptable docking application to study the interactions of small compounds with *** of amphetamine,cathine and cathinone with dihydrofolate reductase were compared to those of methotrexate,a known inhibitor of the *** calculated free energy of binding(ΔG binding)shows that the three ligands(ΔG=-6.87 to-7.21 kcal/mol;Ki=9.15 to 5.18μM)bind with affinity slightly lower than methotrexate(ΔG=-8.78 kcal/mol;Ki=363 nM).Binding interactions of the three ligands with active site residues of the enzyme are also *** the ligands appear to bind in a similar conformation making extensive VDW contacts in the active site of the *** bonding and pi-pi interaction with key active site residues is also ***,a probable inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase by khat alkaloids can be explained on the basis of this in silico binding and khat alkaloids can be considered as potential lead compounds in the development of new inhibitors of dihydrofolate reductase which is a potential target of anti-cancer *** results of these studies can serve as a starting point for further computational and experimental studies.

Salt response of the freshwater microalga Scenedesmus obliquus(Turp.)Kutz is modulated by the algal growth phase

Growth and biochemical responses of the coenobial green alga Scenedesmus obliquus to salinity stress were monitored across different phases of *** alga was cultured on BG11 growth medium and subjected to 0,30,100,and 200 mmol/L NaCl for a period of 20 d,during which algal cultures were harvested at 4-d *** salinity-induced inhibition of algal growth was accompanied with prolongation of timing of the different growth *** sharp and progressive salinity-induced inhibition of algal growth rate during the early phase of growth points to salt shock but moderation of inhibition at the subsequent stages of growth means algal acclimation to *** concentrations of chlorophylls a and b,soluble sugars,proteins as well as those of K+and Na+in the alga exhibited peaks at the initiation of the exponential phase of growth,with increasing magnitude in proportion to the increase in the level of ***,whereas soluble sugars of the alga peaked at initiation of the exponential phase,starch concentration progressively increased with culture age,reaching saturation towards the stationary *** the salinity-induced increase in soluble sugars was most evident at the early stages of growth the reverse was true for *** present results point to fast acclimation of *** to salt stress post a brief salt shock,utilizing soluble sugars,K+and Na+for osmotic *** salinity from 0 to 200 mmol/L NaCl led to progressive increase in soluble sugars,proteins,K+and Na+concentrations of the algal cells,particularly at the early stages of ***,the salinity-induced increase in chlorophyll concentration approached a limit at 100 mmol/L NaCl whereas that in starch concentration was more evident at the later stages of growth.

The present study numerically investigates the flow and heat transfer of porous Williamson hybrid nanofluid on an exponentially shrinking sheet with magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)*** nonlinear partial differential equations which governed the model are first reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations by using the similarity ***,the BVP4C solver is applied to solve the equations by considering the pertinent fluid parameters such as the permeability parameter,the magnetic parameter,the Williamson parameter,the nanoparticle volume fractions and the wall mass transfer *** single(SWCNTs)and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)nanoparticles are taken as the hybrid *** is found that the increase in magnetic parameter in SWCNT+MCWNT hybrid nanofluid results in an increase of 72.2%on skin friction compared to SWCNT nanofluid while maintaining reducing a small number of Nusselt *** shows the potential of the Williamson hybrid nanofluid for friction application purposes especially in transportation like braking system,flushing fluid and mechanical engineering.

Nurses’ Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice Regarding Personal Protective Equipment for the Prevention of COVID-19 in Public Hospitals Khartoum State Sudan 2022

Since December 2019, there had been a series of unexplained cases of pneumonia reported in Wuhan, China, and on 12 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) named this new virus as the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an emerging, rapidly changing global health challenge affecting all sectors, including the health sector. This study aimed to investigate nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the prevention and control of COVID-19. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among nurses in three public health hospitals in Khartoum state. A self-administered questionnaire was used. A total of 14 knowledge questions were adopted. There are 5 questions constructed for attitude. A total of 12 practice questions were used. Mean score of knowledge considers as follows when the mean more than 75% considers as good knowledge while this percent uses as good practice and poor practice respectively to analyze the mean score differences of knowledge, attitudes, and practices between the independent variables. Spearman correlation was used to assess the relationship between mean knowledge and attitude scores. Results: Of the 101 nurses approached, a total of 100 nurses responded (99.0% response rate). The mean age of the participants was 27.6 (SD 5.3) years, and the majority of the participants were male (293/434, 67.5%). The mean knowledge score was 1.01 (SD 0.100). The mean attitude score was 10.5 (SD 4.1), and 54.8% (238/434) of the participants had a good attitude toward COVID-19. The mean practice score was 1.4176 (SD 1.4176). There was a negative correlation between knowledge and attitude scores (P < -0.014) and between knowledge and practice scores (P < -0.081). Conclusions: The overall levels of knowledge and practice and attitude were good.

Safety and efficacy of photodynamic therapy using BCECF-AM compared to mitomycin C in controlling post-operative fibrosis in a rabbit model of subscleral trabeculectomy

AIM： To evaluate the safety and efficacy of cellular photoablation using BCECF-AM [2, T-bis-（2-carboxyethyl） -5-（and-6）-carboxyfluorescein, acetoxymethyl ester mixed isomersl as a method to control postoperative fibrosis in subscleral trabeculectomy （SST） compared to mitomycin C （MMC） in a rabbit model. METHODS： A comparative prospective case-control animal study was conducted. Fourteen rabbits were subjected to SST with intraoperaUve use of wound modulating agents （MMC or BCECF-AM） of the right eye （study groups I and II respectively） and SST without use of intraoperative wound modulating agents for the left eye （control group II）. Two rabbits 4 eyes were considered as control group I with no surgical intervention. BCECF-AM was injected subconjunctivally 30min before surgery followed by intraoperative illumination with diffuse blue light for 10min. Antifibrotic efficacy was established by clinical response and histological examination. Clinical response was assessed by measuring intraocular pressure （lOP） at day 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21 postoperatively, Success was defined by 〉20.0% reduction in lOP from the preoperative values without anti-glaucoma medications. RESULTS： The mean percentage of reduction was 35.0% in the study group I with only one eye （14.3%） had 12.5% reduction. The mean percentage of reduction was 28.0% in the study group U with two eyes （28.6%） in study group II had 14.2% reduction each. Regarding the control group II, the mean percentage of reduction was 14.3% with 64.3% eyes had 〈20.0% reduction. There was a highly statistically significant difference between each of the study groups （right eyes） and the corresponding control group II （left eyes） as regards the mean postoperative lOP values started from day 5 in both study groups and this highly significant difference remained so till the end of the follow up period. Obstacles in employing evidence-based practice by nurses in their clinical settings: a descriptive study

Objective: The challenge of employing evidence-based practice (EBP) is multifarious and varied. Nursing interventions supported by research evidence have been exposed to progress positive patient outcomes, while its implementation is faced with various obstacles. This study aimed to identify obstacles in employing EBP by nurses in their clinical settings. Methods: This descriptive design study was conducted at Benha University Hospital with a convenient sample of 154 nurses. Two tools were utilized: (Ⅰ) sociodemographic data sheet, which included sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, and (Ⅱ) interview scale, which contained two parts: (1) obstacles scale, which contained obstacles that impede nurses from the utilization of EBP, and (2) questions to rank the three greatest obstacles in employing EBP by nurses. Results: The greatest EBP obstacle ranked by nurses was the organizational limitations (90.9%), followed by research quality (86.9%) and research accessibility (51.0%), while individual characteristics (35.9%) were ranked as the least obstacle. There was a significant statistical correlation between organizational limitations, research quality as well accessibility-related obstacles and nurses' age, level of education, as well their years of work experience (P<0.05). Conclusions: Findings of this study showed series of obstacles in employing EBP by nurses in their clinical settings, stressing the call for expansion of nurses' capabilities related to EBP utilization in patients' care.

Text-Independent Algorithm for Source Printer Identification Based on Ensemble Learning
