Mountains are paramount for exploring biodiversity patterns due to the mosaic of topographies and climates encompassed over short *** research has traditionally focused on taxonomic diversity when investigating changes along elevational gradients,but other facets should be *** first time,we simultaneously assessed elevational trends in taxonomic,functional,and phylogenetic diversity of woody plants in Andean tropical montane forests and explored their underlying ecological and evolutionary *** investigation covered four transects(traversing ca.2200 m a.s.l.) encompassing 114 plots of 0.1 ha across a broad latitudinal range(ca.10°).Using Hill numbers to quantify abundance-based diversity among 37,869 individuals we observed a consistent decrease in taxonomic,functional,and phylogenetic diversity as elevation increased,although the decrease was less pronounced for higher Hill *** exception was a slight increase in phylogenetic diversity when dominant species were *** decrease in taxonomic and functional diversity might be attributed to an environmental filtering process towards highlands,where the increasingly harsher conditions exclude species and functional ***,the differences in steepness decrease between Hill orders suggest that rare species disproportionately contribute to functional *** phylogenetic diversity the shifting elevational trend between Hill orders indicates a greater than previously considered influence in central Andean highlands of tropical lowlands originated species with strong niche conservatism relative to distantly related temperate *** could be explained by a decreasing presence and abundance of temperate,extratropical taxa towards the central Andes relative to northern or southern Andes,where they are more prevalent.

Influence of the Acoustic Liner in Large Eddy Simulation of Longitudinal Thermoacoustic Instability in a Model Annular Combustor

Although extensive efforts have been made to dampen the thermoacoustic instability,successfully controlling the pressure oscillations in modern gas turbines or aeroengines remains *** influence of the acoustic liner on the longitudinal thermoacoustic mode in a model annular combustor is investigated by Large Eddy Simulation(LES) in this *** result of the self-excited longitudinal thermoacoustic instability without the liner agrees well with the frequency and acoustic analysis of the pressure mode based on experimental *** different bias flow velocities of the liner located downstream of the combustor are then *** results reveal that the existence of the liner influences not only the acoustic field but also the flow *** the bias velocity is large,it leads to intense turbulence-induced fluctuations,and the pressure oscillation is modulated *** shows that the weak coupling between flow and pressure oscillations plays a significant role in the onset of the intermittency of a thermoacoustic *** on the dynamic analysis of the thermoacoustic system with the acoustic liner,this intermittency is caused by the influence of the flow field on the flame-acoustic ***,a low-order modeling method based on Van der Pol(VdP) oscillator with additive stochastic forcing is conducted to reproduce the evolving dynamics of the thermoacoustic *** the numerical cases demonstrated in this work are relatively simpler than those in a practical combustion system,the results are helpful for us to understand the effect of the acoustic liner and show the attractive potential to apply this device to suppress thermoacoustic instability.

Lactobacillus plantarum j26 alleviates alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury by regulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway

Oxidative stress is one of the main ways to cause alcohol-induced liver injury,and alcoholic liver disease(ALD)has been a common health problem *** acid bacteria(LAB)is also considered as a potential treatment to alleviate alcohol-induced liver *** plantarum j26 is a LAB isolated from Chinese traditional fermented dairy products with excellent probiotic *** study aimed to establish a mice model of alcoholic liver injury through acute-on-chronic alcohol feeding and to study the alleviating effect of pre-intake of *** j26 on alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury and focus on its potential mechanism of alleviating *** results showed that pre-intake of *** j26 could improve liver pathological changes,reduce lipid accumulation,increase mitochondrial ATP and mitochondrial(mtDNA)levels,and alleviate liver *** addition,pre-intake *** j26 can improve the level of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in the intestines in mice,short chain fatty acids can be used as a signaling molecule activation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)signaling pathway to alleviate liver oxidative stress,and maintain mitochondrial homeostasis by regulating the expression of genes related to mitochondrial dynamics and autophagy,thereby reducing cell apoptosis to alleviate alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury.

Large magnetocaloric effect and magnetic properties of EuRhO3

We report on the structural,magnetic,and magnetocaloric properties of *** oxidation states of Eu and Rh ions were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）.It is found that the Eu ions are mainly in the divalent oxidation state while the Rh ions have+4 ***3powders are found to be antiferromagnetic with a second order magnetic transition at Neel temperature（TN=2.9 K）.Analysis of the magnetic susceptibility versus temperature data in terms of the Curie=Weiss law:(χ=C/（T-θW）) for T>TN,yields θW=-3.1 K and effective magne tic moment ■,which is close to the theoretical value ■.The magnetic entropy change(-ΔSM),was determined by em ploying the thermodynam ic Maxwell's *** μ0H=5 T and near TN,■ and relative cooling power（RCP） exhibit large values of 33.7 j/（kg·K） and 238 j/kg,*** large magnitude of-ΔSmand RCP show that the EuRhO3compound could be a potential candidate to be used in cryogenic magnetic refrigeration.

Controllable nucleation and deformation of skyrmions on surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer

Magnetic skyrmions emerge when the energy of ferromagnetic exchange interaction promoting parallel alignment of spins enters in competition with energies favoring non-collinear alignment of spins such as Dzy aloshinskii-Moriya interaction(DMI),long-rang dipole-dipole interaction(DDI),or higher-order exchange *** perform an unbiased Monte Carlo simulation to study the DMI-based skyrmion nucleation and stabilization on the surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer controlled by tuning constants of DDI(g) and next-nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange interaction(j') with appropriate *** g and j',the loosely distributed skyrmions initially nucleate on the surface of nanotube approaching to the magnetic field(h) direction with increasing h in the intermediate ***,the skyrmion size,shape,density,distribution and crystal structure,as well as its driven field range,are tailored by g and j'.This work demonstrates the skyrmion nucleation mechanisms in three-dimensional magnetic nanostructures with curvature effect and multiple interactions,serving as a benchmark for a guide to experimentalists for preparation of samples in magnetic skyrmion states.

Albumin–bilirubin grade as a predictor of survival in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with thrombocytopenia

BACKGROUND The models for assessing liver function,mainly the Child–Pugh(CP),albuminbilirubin(ALBI),and platelet–ALBI(PALBI)classifications,have been validated for use in estimating the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)***,thrombocytopenia is a common finding and may influence the prognostic value of the three models in *** To investigate and compare the prognostic performance of the above three models in thrombocytopenic HCC *** A total of 135 patients with thrombocytopenic HCC who underwent radical surgery were retrospectively *** scores on the CP,ALBI and PALBI classifications were estimated ***–Meier curves with logrank tests and Cox regression models were used to explore the significant factors associated with overall survival(OS)and recurrence-free survival(RFS).RESULTS The preoperative platelet counts were significantly different among the CP,ALBI and PALBI *** a median follow-up of 28 mo,39.3%(53/135)of the patients experienced postoperative recurrence,and 36.3%(49/135)*** analysis suggested thatα-fetoprotein levels,tumor size,vascular invasion,and ALBI grade were significant predictors of OS and *** to the multivariate Cox regression model,ALBI was identified as an independent prognostic ***,CP and PALBI grades were not statistically significant prognostic *** The ALBI grade,rather than CP or PALBI grade,is a significant prognostic indicator for thrombocytopenic HCC patients.

Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets play a crucial role in energy conversion and electronic *** essential magnetic properties of Nd-Fe-B magnets,particularly coercivity and remanent magnetization,are significantly infuenced by the phase characteristics and *** this work,Nd-Fe-B magnets were manufactured using vacuum induction melting(VIM),laser directed energy deposition(LDED)and laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)*** evolution and phase selection of Nd-Fe-B magnets were then clarified in *** results indicated that the solidification velocity(V)and cooling rate(R)are key factors in the phase *** terms of the VIM-casting Nd-Fe-B magnet,a large volume fraction of theα-Fe soft magnetic phase(39.7 vol.%)and Nd2Fe17Bxmetastable phase(34.7 vol.%)areformed due to the low R(2.3×10-1?C s-1),whereas only a minor fraction of the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase(5.15 vol.%)is *** the LDED-processed Nd-Fe-B deposit,although the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase also had a low value(3.4 vol.%)as the values of V(10-2m s-1)and R(1.45×106?C s-1)in the LPBF process resulted in the substantial formation of the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase(55.8 vol.%)directly from the liquid,while theα-Fe soft magnetic phase and Nd2Fe17Bxmetastable phase precipitation are suppressed in the LPBF-processed Nd-Fe-B ***,crystallographic texture analysis reveals that the LPBF-processedNd-Fe-B magnets exhibit isotropic magnetic ***,the LPBF-processed Nd-Fe-B deposit,exhibiting a coercivity of 656 k A m-1,remanence of 0.79 T and maximum energy product of 71.5 k j m-3,achieved an acceptable magnetic perfor
