The precise mechanism of bone regeneration in different bone graft substitutes has been well studied in recent researches. However, miRNAs regulation of the bone formation has been always mysterious. We developed the anterior lumbar interbody fusion （ALIF） model in pigs using equine bone protein extract （BPE）, recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 （rhBMP-2） on an absorbable collagen sponge （ACS）, and autograft as bone graft substitute, respectively. The miRNA and gene expression profiles of different bone graft materials were examined using microarray technology and data analysis, including self-organizing maps, KEGG pathway and Biological process GO analyses. We then jointly analyzed miRNA and mRNA profiles of the bone fusion tissue at different time points respectively. Results showed that miRNAs, including let-7, miR-129, m iR-21, miR-133, miR-140, miR-146, miR-184, and miR-224, were involved in the regulation of the immune and inflammation response, which provided suitable inflammatory microenvironment for bone formation. At late stage, several miRNAs directly regulate SMAD4, Estrogen receptor 1 and 5-hydroxytryptamine （serotonin） receptor 2C for bone formation. It can be concluded that miRNAs play important roles in balancing the inflammation and bone formation.

为评价纳米/聚合物复合改性沥青混合料的高温性能,制备了基质沥青混合料试件、4%SBS改性沥青混合料试件、3%ZnO+0.5%TiO_2改性沥青混合料试件、3.7%SBS+3%ZnO+0.5%TiO_2改性沥青混合料试件。采用小型加速加载设备(MMLS3)对上述沥青混合料试件进行高温稳定性试验。同时测定不同混合料的动稳定度。试验结果表明,两种试验得出的不同沥青混合料高温稳定性能优劣顺序是一致的,即:SBS/ZnO/TiO_2沥青混合料、SBS沥青混合料、ZnO/TiO_2沥青混合料、基质沥青。可见,当纳米材料与聚合物复掺时,沥青混合料的高温性能优于单掺纳米材料或者单掺聚合物材料。因此,对高温稳定性有较高要求的地区,可以采用纳米/聚合物复掺的改性方法对沥青的高温性能进行改善。

Influence of the Acoustic Liner in Large Eddy Simulation of Longitudinal Thermoacoustic Instability in a Model Annular Combustor

Universal bound on sampling bosons in linear optics and its computational implications

In linear optics, photons are scattered in a network through passive optical elements including beam splitters and phase shifters, leading to many intriguing applications in physics, such as Mach–Zehnder interferometry, the Hong–Ou–mandel effect, and tests of fundamental quantum mechanics. Here we present the fundamental limit in the transition amplitudes of bosons, applicable to all physical linear optical networks. Apart from boson sampling, this transition bound results in many other interesting applications,including behaviors of Bose–Einstein condensates(BEC) in optical networks, counterparts of Hong–Ou–mandel effects for multiple photons, and approximating permanents of matrices. In addition,this general bound implies the existence of a polynomial-time randomized algorithm for estimating the transition amplitudes of bosons, which represents a solution to an open problem raised by Aaronson and Hance(Quantum Inf Comput 2012; 14: 541–59). Consequently, this bound implies that computational decision problems encoded in linear optics, prepared and detected in the Fock basis, can be solved efficiently by classical computers within additive errors. Furthermore, our result also leads to a classical sampling algorithm that can be applied to calculate the many-body wave functions and the S-matrix of bosonic particles.

FeP nanoparticles derived from metal-organic frameworks/GO as high-performance anode material for lithium ion batteries

Double carbon coated Fe P composite(Fe P@NC@r GO)was in situ fabricated via the phosphorization process of the as-prepared Prussian blue@graphene oxide(PB@GO)*** Fe P nanocrystals were successfully embedded in the nitrogen-doped porous carbon *** used as the anode for lithium ion batteries(LIBs),the Fe P@NC@r GO anode shows superior lithium storage properties,delivering a high specific capacity of 830 m A h g^(-1)after 100 cycles at 100 m A g^(-1)and excellent rate capability of 359 m A h g^(-1)at 5 A g^(-1).The outstanding performance mainly ascribes to the synergistic effect of the double carbon coating and porous structure *** introduction of porous carbon and graphene coating on Fe P nanoparticles greatly enhance the electronic conductivity of the active material and well accommodates the large volume variation of Fe P during the cycling process.

Ecological restoration is widely employed from tens to millions of hectares in space,and from tens of days to thousands of years in time, which forces consideration of it thoroughly. We argue that three questions are the most important among the contents relevant of ecological restoration, including why, what and how to restore degraded systems. Why to restore determines whether or not the degraded ecological systems should be restored. What to restore is the goal of ecological restoration. The explicit goal of ecological restoration is necessary to guide ecological restoration workers in pursuit of excellence and prevent restoration from being swamped by purely technological activities. And how to restore means the methods and steps we should apply. To ensure the final success of ecological restoration, restored sites should be monitored and managed for long time to determine whether the selected methods are appropriate, and can be remedy better. Only to deal with these effectively, ecological restoration would be the hope for the future.

Measurement of Transverse Tensile Interfacial Strength of REBCO-Coated Conductors

We present a new test method for the accurate measurement of the transverse tensile interfacial strength of rare-earth barium copper oxide(REBCO)-coated conductor(CC)tapes to overcome heavy scattering of data tested using regular test methods.A new composite structure specimen is designed and constructed by solidifying a standard epoxy resin tensile specimen using the three-dimensional printing technology,where a short REBCO CC tape is *** feasibility of the proposed test method is numerically validated through finite element(FE)*** results show that the valid delaminated strength is 2.19-2.51 MPa with the maximum relative error of 7.3%,indicating the elimination of significant scattering in the tested *** analysing the morphology of the delaminated interfaces and energy-dispersive spectroscopy results,it is discovered that delamination primarily occurs at the interface between the REBCO superconducting layer and the buffer layer and that a small portion of the REBCO and buffer layers peels *** error analysis based on the FE method indicates that the tape is more likely to delaminate because of initial defects,whereas the adhesion at the edges of the CC tape due to the redundancy of the epoxy resin increases the resistance of the CC tape to delamination,resulting in a higher testing value than the real one.

Numerical study of the semi-circular bend dynamic fracture toughness test using discrete element models

The semi-circular bend(SCB) dynamic fracture toughness test is simulated using discrete element models. The influence of the frictional boundary condition, constitutive law and specimen thickness on the test measurements is investigated. It is found that friction between loading plates and the rock specimen affects the test results. Therefore, friction must be carefully considered to obtain accurate measurements. The simulation results also show that in contrast to the 2D model in which a rate-dependent cohesive law must be introduced, 3D models with a rate-independent law can produce good results. Furthermore, the study suggests that test measurements are seriously affected by specimen thickness; thus, full 3D modeling is required for simulation of the SCB test.

2D sandwich-like nanosheets of ultrafine Sb nanoparticles anchored to graphene for high-efficiency sodium storage

Sb is considered a promising anode material for high-performance sodium-ion batteries （NIBs） owing to its high theoretical specific capacity （660 mAh-g-1）. However, Sb shows a very large volume change （-200%） during sodiation and desodiation, leading to poor electrochemical performance. Here, we designed and tested a sandwich-like graphene-supported Sb nanocomposite （denoted Sb@RGO@Sb）, in which ultrafine Sb nanoparticles are uniformly anchored on a reduced graphene oxide （RGO） surface. The ultrafine Sb nanocrystals anchored on the RGO surface minimize the aggregation of Sb and inhibit restacking of the RGO sheets, leading to a minimum transport length for both ions and electrons. The graphene layer not only accommodates the large volume variation of Sb during cycling but also promotes the electron conductivity of the whole electrode. Owing to its unique structure, this sandwich-like composite exhibits superior sodium storage properties.
