The purpose of this study was to design a rapid-cycling synchrotron, making it capable of proton beam ultrahigh dose rate irradiation, inspired by laser accelerators. The design had to be cheap and simple. We consider our design from six aspects: the lattice, injection, extraction, space charge effects, eddy current effects and energy switching. Efficiency and particle quantity must be addressed when injected. The space charge effects at the injection could affect particles' number. The eddy current effects in the vacuum chambers would affect the magnetic field itself and generate heat, all of which need to be taken into account. Fast extraction can obtain 10^(10) protons/pulse, equal to instantaneous dose rate up to 10~7 Gy/s in a very short time, while changing various extraction energies rapidly and easily to various deposition depths. In the further research, we expect to combine a delivery system with this accelerator to realize the FLASH irradiation.

Eddy currents produced by a time-varying magnetic field will introduce time delay and thus affect field quality. This effect leads to drifting of the beam position over time, especially for a compact *** and measurements of different dipoles have been performed, to investigate the time delay and field quality. The simulations are conducted using OPERA software. The measurements are conducted using a long coil and Hall sensor. All results show that the magnetic field deviation is up to 0.4% for the dipole with stainless steel endplates. The simulations show that the main sources of eddy current are the field saturation effect and the field component Bz, introduced by the bedstead-type coil. Field correction using a power supply is adopted to reduce the deviation to less than 0.02%.

The spatial resolution of a commercial two-dimensional(2D)ionization chamber(IC)array is limited by the size of the individual detector and the center-to-center distance between *** dose distributions with areas of steep dose gradients,inter-detector dose values are derived by the interpolation of nearby detector readings in the conventional mathematical interpolation of 2D IC array *** may introduce significant errors,particularly in proton spot scanning *** this study,by combining logfile-based reconstructed dose values and detector measurements with the Laplacian pyramid image blending method,a novel method is proposed to obtain a reformatted dose distribution that provides an improved estimation of the delivered dose distribution with high spatial ***,the similarity between the measured original data and the downsampled logfilebased reconstructed dose is regarded as the confidence of the reformatted dose ***,we quantify the performance benefits of this new approach by directly comparing the reformatted dose distributions with 2D IC array detector mathematically interpolated measurements and original low-resolution *** result shows that this new method is better than the mathematical interpolation and achieves gamma pass rates similar to those of the original low-resolution *** reformatted dose distributions generally yield a confidence exceeding 95%.

Exploring efficient and nonprecious metal electrocatalysts of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is crucial for developing rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs).Herein,an alloying-degree control strategy was employed to fabricate nitrogen-doped carbon sphere(NCS)decorated with dual-phase Co/Co_(7)Fe_(3)heterojunctions(CoFe@NCS).The phase composition of materials has been adjusted by controlling the alloying *** optimal CoFe_(0.08)@NCS electrocatalyst displays a half-wave potential of 0.80 V for ORR and an overpotential of 283 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2)for OER in an alkaline *** intriguing bifunctional electrocatalytic activity and durability is attributed to the hierarchically porous structure and interfacial electron coupling of highly-active Co_(7)Fe_(3)alloy and metallic Co *** the CoFe_(0.08)@NCS material is used as air-cathode catalyst of rechargeable liquid-state zinc-air battery(ZAB),the device shows a high peak power-density(157 mW·cm^(-2))and maintains a stable voltage gap over 150 h,outperforming those of the benchmark(Pt/C+RuO_(2))-based *** particular,the as-fabricated solid-state flexible ZAB delivers a reliable compatibility under different bending *** work provides a promising strategy to develop metal/alloy-based electrocatalysts for the application in renewable energy conversion technologies.
