The Covid-19 Pandemic and Its Repercussions on the Malaysian Tourism Industry

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus(Covid-19)has hit the nation’s tourism sector *** the closure of borders,industry players should now realize that they cannot rely and focus too much on international receipts but should also give equal balance attention to local tourist and tourism ***,urgent steps must be taken by the government to reduce the impact of this outbreak on the country’s economy,by introducing measures to boost domestic tourism and to satisfy the cravings of the tourism needs of the *** is not an understatement that Malaysians often look for tourists’destinations outside Malaysia for fun and adventure,ignoring the fact that Malaysia has a lot to offer to tourist in terms of sun,sea,culture,heritage,gastronomy,and *** geography programs like“Tribal Chef”demonstrate how“experiential tourism”resonates with the young and adventurous,international and Malaysian *** main purpose of this paper is to give an insight about the effect of Covid-19 pandemic to the tourism and hospitality services industry in *** is the immediate impact of Covid-19 pandemic on Malaysia’s tourism industry?What are the initiatives(stimulus package)taken by the Malaysian government in order to ensure tourism sustainability during Covid-19 pandemic?How to boost tourist confidence?How to revive Malaysia’s tourism industry?How local government agencies can help in promoting and coordinating domestic tourism?These are some of the questions which a response is provided in the *** to the current Conditional Movement Control Order(CMCO)in Malaysia which started from 18th March 2020 to the time this paper is written,the methodology is largely reliant on daily news and information including national Malaysia news and daily updates in local *** paper also makes some recommendations which have implications for practitioners and policy makers.

This study has isolated,characterized,and identified potential plant growthpromoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)with multiple PGP characteristics(N_(2)-fixation,P-and K-solubilization,IAA,and siderophores production)from the rhizosphere BRIS soil of Acacia mangium.A total of 24 pure colonies were isolated and only 8 colonies were selected for further evaluation of the growth rate in 5%organic molasses medium supplemented with 2%KNO_(3).Based on the biochemical,potential PGP characteristics and growth performance,3 superior PGPR strains were selected and identified as Paraburkholderia unamae(UA1),Bacillus amyloliquefaciens(UA6),and Enterobacter asburiae(UAA2)by partial sequencing of the 16S rRNA *** selected bacterial strains either in single or mixed(UA1+UA6+􀀁UAA2)cultures have shown a significant biochemical estimation of the PGP *** strain has its own PGPR traits superiority with UA1 showing the best PGP characteristic followed by UA6 and *** use of mixed bacterial strains was beneficial as it showed the best performance in N_(2)-fixation,siderophores production,and significant effect on corn phenology,growth and yield compared to using a single *** types of microbes showed potential to be used as biofertilizer and should be exploited more.

Livestock image segmentation is an important task in the field of vision and image *** utilizing the concentration of forage in the grazing area with shielding the surrounding farm plants and crops is necessary for making effective cattle ranch arrangements,there is a need for a segmentation method that can handle multiple objects ***,the indistinct boundaries and irregular shapes of cattle bodies discourage the application of the existing Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Network(Mask R-CNN)which was primarily modeled for the segmentation of natural *** address this,an enhanced Mask R-CNN model was proposed for multiple objects instance segmentation to support indistinct boundaries and irregular shapes of cattle bodies for precision livestock *** contributions of this method are in multiple folds:1)optimal filter size smaller than a residual network for extracting smaller and composite features;2)region proposals for utilizing multiscale semantic features;3)Mask R-CNN’s fully connected layer integrated with sub-network for an enhanced *** experiment conducted on pre-processed datasets produced a mean average precision(mAP)of 0.93,which was higher than the results from the existing state-of-the-art models.

Due to the depletion of conventional energy sources and its limitless resources,solar energy is currently being considered as a viable alternative,especially for water heating *** thermal performance of multilayer solar collectors for water heating systems can be improved further by introducing hybrid nanofluids as advanced *** study demonstrates the utilisation of hybrid nanofluids in heating systems by employing a multilayer absorber solar *** SiO2–TiO2 hybrid nanofluids at volume concentrations up to 2.0%were tested at various flow rates(1.7 to 3.7 LPM)and solar radiation intensities(250 to 1000 W/m2).The thermal performance of the solar collector was assessed by measuring the temperature variation,heat loss,and overall efficiency of the *** the optimal volume concentration,the temperature difference for solar collectors employing SiO2–TiO2 hybrid nanofluids increased *** optimal volume concentration of 1.5%yields a maximum temperature difference of 9.5°*** addition,the efficiency and fluid temperature of the solar collector containing hybrid nanofluids have been enhanced by 22%and 37%,*** SiO2–TiO2 hybrid nanofluids with the optimal volume concentration of 1.5%were therefore recommended for maximum efficiency in the solar collector.

The impact of task characteristics on the performance of nursing teams

Purpose:This study sought to examine the relationship between team task features and team task *** task performance revolved around the team's technical knowledge and the technical core activities of the *** the other hand,team task characteristics include task identity,task significance,and task ***:This study involved a total of 300 nursing teams(1436 individual nurses)from seven state hospitals in Peninsular *** were collected using two sets of questionnaires which were initially distributed to 320 *** set was given to the team members and another set was given to the team *** the 320 sets sent out,300 sets were *** were then combined and aggregated to the team level to get the team's final *** of the hypotheses were done using Partial Least Squares(PLS)through assessment of the measurement and structural ***:Results from the path analysis revealed that of the three dimensions of team task attributes,only task significance was positively and significantly related to team task performance(β=0.076,P>0.05),while task identity(β=0.076,P>0.05)and task interdependence(β=-0.037,P>0.05)were found unrelated to team task ***:This study demonstrated that task significance is important to predict team task *** significance reflects meaningfulness and nobility of tasks,thus elevate the desire to perform better in each assigned task.

Effect of Refining Parameters on Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) Properties from Oil Palm Trunk

The properties of medium density fibreboard (MDF) made from oil palm trunk (OPT) as affected by refining pressure and preheating time were investigated. The OPT chips were refined in the MDF pilot plant by using four refining pressures (2, 4, 6 and 8 bar) and four different preheating time (100, 200, 300 and 400 seconds). The refined fibres were blended with 10% of urea formaldehyde with a board target density of 720 kg/m3. MDF boards were evaluated based on European Standard EN 622-5:2006 for thickness swelling (TS), internal bonding (IB), modulus of rupture (MOR) and modulus of elasticity (MOE). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to analyze the significance of the factors. The results from this study indicated that refining pressure and preheating time are significant factors for all MDF properties. Low refining pressure and preheating time produced higher TS, lower MOR and MOE with poor bonding than those boards prepared from fibres refined at higher refining pressure and longer preheating time. OPT fibre treated with 8 bar produced good swelling resistance but detrimental on mechanical properties of the finish board. 6 bar steam pressure offered the highest value of mechanical properties (MOE, MOR and IB). Boards from intermediate refining condition (6 bar and 300 seconds) were found the better board properties having 14.58%, 0.73 N/mm2, 38 N/mm2 and 3597 N/mm2 for TS, IB, MOR and MOE respectively.

Highly Effective Brushless DC Motor in Which Unidirectional Current Flows in

Authors developed a highly effective brushless DC motor with a simple operation principle. If the operation principle of the motor is simple, a drive circuit will also become simple and its production cost will be lower. From the above fact, Minato motor was noticed. In this motor, a unidirectional current flows in the electromagnets. In other words, unidirectional windings are used. In this motor, only strong repulsive force is utilized when a permanent magnet of a rotor and an electromagnet of a stator are adjacent. Hence, torque constant becomes higher and the efficiency of the motor is high. However, an effective value of the electromagnetic current increases because a large current flows in a short period. Therefore, copper loss increases and the efficiency of the motor decreases. In order to solve above defects, a new motor is proposed. From the experiment, it is clarified that the efficiency of the proposed motor is higher than that of the commercial motors.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of pre-treatments by using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and acetic acid on oil palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) fibres for the production of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). The EFB fibres were treated with chemicals in the concentration range of 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6% and 0.8% prior to refining. Single-homogenous layer MDF with 12 mm thickness and density of 720 kg/m3 was produced. Urea-Formaldehyde (UF) was applied at 10% loading (based on dry weight of dry fibres) as a binder. The physical properties (Water Absorption (WA) and Thickness Swelling (TS)) of the produced panels were tested according to European Standard, EN 622-5:2006. The results show that types of chemical used had greater effects than concentration on the dimensional stability of the MDF. EFB fibres treated with acetic acid produced MDF with better dimensional stability compared to the MDF NaOH treated fibres. High concentration of NaOH produced poor dimensional stability in the panels.
