Effectiveness of an educational program on improving healthcare providers' knowledge of acute stroke: A randomized block design study

BACKGROUND: Stroke is a time-sensitive neurological disease and a life-threatening medical condition. Providing timely management for stroke patients is a crucial issue in healthcare settings. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an evidence-based educational program on healthcare providers'(HCPs) overall knowledge of ***: A randomized block design with post-test only was used. A total of 189 HCPs(physicians, registered nurses, and paramedics) involved with treating stroke patients in the emergency were recruited. Participants were randomly assigned to either the intervention or waiting list control group. A one-session, stroke educational program was offered to the HCPs followed by a post-test designed to assess knowledge about stroke. RESULTS: A significant main effect on the profession type was found, with physicians having higher mean scores of stroke knowledge compared with nurses and paramedics(F [2, 183]=48.55, P<0.001). The implemented educational program had a positive effect on increasing the level of stroke knowledge among HCPs(F [1, 183]=43.31, P<0.001). The utilization of any evidence-based assessment tools for patients with suspected stroke was denied by 36% of the total ***: The implemented intervention can increase HCP's knowledge regarding stroke. Stroke education should be considered as one of the essential requirements for professional development for all HCPs in the emergency.

The accuracy of extracting projected pig area is critical to the accuracy of the weight measurement of pigs by machine *** capability of both the conventional and the edge detection methods for extracting pig area was examined using the images of 47 pigs of different *** between the threshold value and the extracted area was numerically analyzed for both *** was found that the accuracy of the conventional method depended heavily on the threshold value,while choice of threshold value in the edge detection approach had no influence on the extracted area over a wide *** normal lighting conditions,both methods yielded comparable values of predicted weight;however,under variable light intensities,the edge detection method was superior to the conventional method,because the former was proven to be independent of light *** makes edge detection an ideal method for area extraction during the walk-through weighing process where pigs are allowed to move around.

This study was performed to evaluate changes in physicochemical and sensory attributes of olive oil stored in different packaging materials for up to 60 *** olive oil samples from a local company(Ajlon-Jordan)were stored in containers made from glass,tinplate,and plastic for two months at 25℃with quality attributes analyzed at selected time *** results showed that as time increased from 0 to 60 days the acidity and peroxide values(PV)of the oil increased while antioxidant activities,total phenolics,and sensory attributes *** samples in the glass container exhibited the lowest acidity(1.25%to 1.53%)and PV(6.13 to 7.17 milliequivalents meq/kg)values followed by those stored in the plastic and tinplate *** lowest antioxidant activities and total phenolics values were recorded in oil from the tinplate container while no significant difference(p≤0.05)was found for samples in the glass and plastic *** oil in the tinplate container had the highest values of sedimentation(0.17%).The glass container provided the best protection to oil samples as indicated by the best sensory properties,followed by plastic and tinplate containers.

The hex-cell is one of the interconnection networks used for parallel systems. The main idea of the hex-cell is that there are hexagon cells that construct the network;each one of those cells has six nodes. The performance of the network is affected by many factors one of the factors as load balancing. Until the moment of writing of this paper, there is no load balancing algorithm for this network. The proposed algorithm for dynamic load balancing on hex-cell is based on Tree Walking Algorithm (TWA) for load balancing on tree interconnection network and the ring all to all broadcast.

Four different fresh and dried herb species(sage,thyme,mint and lemonbalm)were evaluated to study the effect of drying process on the total phenolics,antioxidant activity,flavonoid contents and color *** mint had the highest contents of total phenolics(335.4 mg GAE/100 g),whereas lower levels were respectively found in sage(316.4 mg GAE/100 g)followed by lemonbalm(303.2 mg GAE/100 g)and thyme(299.2 mg GAE/100 g).Dry processing significantly decreased the phytochemical contents of all investigated *** to air drying,total phenolics,antioxidant activity and flavonoids content in herbs decreased apparently by oven *** mint had the highest antioxidant activity(87.46%)and flavonoids content(298.51 mg CE/100 g),while the fresh sage,thyme and lemonbalm were found to have antioxidant activity values of 86.81%,86.56% and 85.26%,*** showed that air drying herbs contained more total phenolics,antioxidant activity,and flavonoids than oven drying herbs.

Some lignocellulosic biomass like corncob contains a large amount of xylan,a valuable material for applications in food,chemical and pharmaceutical *** extraction of xylan is a time consuming process,requiring 12 to 24 hours to *** this study,the efficacy of power ultrasound for reducing the extraction time and increasing the xylan yield was *** acoustic energy densities(0.18 W/mL and 0.45 W/mL)of the power ultrasound were applied to corncob for 10,20,30,and 60 *** treated samples were steamed at 110,118 and 121℃for 30 *** 0.45 W/mL acoustic energy density and 121℃steaming temperature,ultrasonic treatment was able to extract 39%of xylan in 43 *** contrast,the conventional treatment was able to extract only 34%of xylan in 24 *** ultrasound assisted extraction reduced the processing time by 97%in addition to yield increase by 14.7%.Power ultrasound can be a potential technology for enhanced xylan extraction from corncob to result in significant processing time savings.

Objective:This study aimed to examine the effects of mindfulness meditation on trait mindfulness,perceived stress,emotion regulation,and quality of life in end-stage renal disease patients undergoing ***:An experimental study with repeated measures design was conducted among a sample of 74 end-stage renal disease patients undergoing hemodialysis between January and May 2021 in the dialysis center at Jahra hospital,*** patients were randomly assigned to the experimental(n?37)and control groups(n?37).The experimental group participated in 30-min mindfulness meditation sessions(three sessions a week for five weeks)held during their hemodialysis sessions;the participants in the control group were instructed to sit with their eyes closed and relaxed for 30 min three times a week for five weeks during hemodialysis *** dependent variables of both groups were measured at baseline(T0),middle of intervention(T1),and end of intervention(T2)using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale(MAAS),Perceived Stress Scale(PSS),Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(ERQ),and Kidney Disease Quality of Life(KDQOL-36)*** study was registered in the ***(Identifier:NCT05176730).Results:The repeated measures ANOVA(within-subject)results for the experimental group showed that mindfulness meditation had significantly decreased perceived stress by the end of the ***,mindfulness meditation improved mindfulness,emotion regulation,and kidney disease-related quality of life in the experimental group,and this improvement occurred significantly at both T1 and *** repeated measures ANOVA(within and between-subject)results showed that the experimental group,as compared to the control group,had lower perceived stress,higher trait mindfulness,higher emotional regulation,and higher kidney disease-related quality of life over ***:The positive findings of this study offer health policy-makers and hospital administrators a prom

In an attempt to provide a set of specifications for the use and trade of the olive pomace in Jordan, several samples of the crude and laboratory-prepared exhausted (oil-free) olive pomace have been subjected to a thorough thermochemical characterization. Such characterization included determination of fat content by using n-hexane and Soxhlet extractor, ultimate and proximate analyses obtained by using an elemental analyzer and a thermogravimetric procedure, respectively, gross and net calorific values obtained by using adiabatic oxygen bomb calorimetry, mineral content (ash), and analysis of the pyrolysis thermograms in terms of specified temperatures and residual masses associated with such temperatures as obtained under an inert atmosphere of nitrogen gas at a flow rate of 100 ml per min and a heating rate of 20°C per min from room temperature up to 600°C. The properties of both the crude and the exhausted olive pomace were compared. The gross calorific values and the results of the ultimate analyses for the two pomace types were found to correlate very well as indicated by the use of a literature correlation formula usually used for estimating the gross calorific value of a fuel when its ultimate analysis is known. Other literature correlation formulas used for estimating the gross calorific value from the proximate analysis data were also used to check the adequacy of our procedure for getting the proximate analysis from the?thermogravimetric pyrolysis thermograms.

The effect of tehina processing and storage during six months at 25℃and 35℃on total phenolics,antioxidant activity,anthocyanins,and fatty acid analysis was *** processing,storage period and temperature significantly(p≤0.05)decreased total phenolics,antioxidant activity and anthocyanins *** results showed that raw sesame seeds had the highest total phenolics(99.98 mg GAE/100 g)and lower levels were found in dehulled unroasted sesame seeds,tehina at zero time and roasted sesame seeds(62.53,60.61 and 47.03 mg GAE/100 g,respectively).In addition,tehina during storage showed a significant decrease in total phenolics(60.61 to 42.45 mg GAE/100 g).Raw sesame seeds had the highest antioxidant activity(0.51 mg/mL),while the tehina,dehulled unroasted and roasted sesame had antioxidant activity values of 1.21,1.35 and 1.79 mg/mL,***,antioxidant activity of tehina at zero time was highest(1.21 mg/mL)and lowest was in tehina stored for six months(1.70 mg/mL).Sesame seeds and tehina had low levels of anthocyanins(1.26 and 0.50 mg cya-3-glu/100 g).Fatty acid analysis showed that sesame seeds(raw,dehulled unroasted and roasted)and tehina samples contain high percent of unsaturated fatty acid oleic(C18:1)and linoleic(C18:2).
