Acute Hydrocephalus Revealing Unusual Cerebellar mass: Dysplastic Cerebellar Gangliocytoma or Lhermitte-Duclos Disease (LDD)

Lhermitte-Duclos disease (LDD) or dysplastic gangliocytoma of the cerebellum is a rare benign lesion of uncertain pathogenesis characterized by overgrowth of cerebellar ganglion cells which replace granular cells and Purkinje cells;this results in gross thickening of the cerebellar folia. It is revealed by symptoms of raised intracranial pressure, cerebellar impairment and obstructive hydrocephalus. We reported the case of a 41-year-old male who presented with symptoms of acute raised intracranial pressure. Brain computed tomography (CT) scan revealed hydrocephalus due to compression of the 4th ventricle by a large non-enhancing left cerebellar mass. magnetic resonance imaging (mRI) showed a space-occupying lesion within the left cerebellar hemisphere with unusual striation. Radical surgery was retained though the margins with normal cerebellar tissue were not distinct. Clinical complications after gross total or partial removal of Lhermitte-Duclos lesions have been rarely reported in the literature;herein we stress the importance of extreme caution in removing these lesions in cerebellar areas that have no distinct margins between the lesion and normal tissue.

Retained placenta: Do we have any option?

Retained placenta is a known cause of post-partum haemorrhage and maternal mortality. A recent systemic review has confirmed that the incidence of retained placenta had increased all over the world, which is more common in developed countries. Failure of retroplacental myometrium contraction is the main cause of retained placenta. maternal age greater than 35 years, grandmultipara, preterm labor, history of previous retained placenta, and caesarean section were the risk factors for retained placenta. manual removal of the placenta has been the treatment of choice. Attempts had been made by clinician and researchers to find a safe, effective and reliable method to avoid the need for surgical intervention. The efficacy and safety of prostaglandin, nitroglycerin or acupuncture in the management of retained placenta are yet to be further evaluated. Nonetheless, till date only intraumbilical vein oxytocin has been studied extensively but with varied success. more randomized clinical trials are needed to address this issue. However, if immediate manual placenta removal service is unavailable, a trial of intra-umbilical vein oxytocin 100 IU at a totalvolume of at least 40 m L while preparing for transfer to a tertiary center or theatre may result in spontaneous expulsion of the placenta.

This is a continuity of a series of taxonomic papers where materials are examined,described and novel combinations are proposed where necessary to improve our traditional species concepts and provide updates on their *** addition to extensive morphological descriptions and appropriate asexual and sexual connections,DNA sequence data are also analysed from concatenated datasets(rDNA,TEF-a,RBP2 and b-Tubulin)to infer phylogenetic relationships and substantiate systematic position of taxa within appropriate *** new species or combinations are being proposed,we apply an integrative approach(morphological and molecular data as well as ecological features wherever applicable).Notes on 125 fungal taxa are compiled in this paper,including eight new genera,101 new species,two new combinations,one neotype,four reference specimens,new host or distribution records for eight species and one alternative *** new genera introduced in this paper are Alloarthopyrenia,Arundellina,Camarosporioides,Neomassaria,Neomassarina,Neotruncatella,Paracapsulospora and *** new species are Alfaria spartii,Alloarthopyrenia italica,Anthostomella ravenna,***,Arthrinium paraphaeospermum,Arundellina typhae,Aspergillus koreanus,Asterina cynometrae,Bertiella ellipsoidea,Blastophorum aquaticum,Cainia globosa,Camarosporioides phragmitis,Ceramothyrium menglunense,Chaetosphaeronema achilleae,Chlamydotubeufia helicospora,Ciliochorella phanericola,Clavulinopsis aurantiaca,Colletotrichum insertae,Comoclathris italica,Coronophora myricoides,Cortinarius fulvescentoideus,***,***,***,Cunninghamella gigacellularis,Cyathus pyristriatus,Cytospora cotini,Dematiopleospora alliariae,***,Diaporthe aseana,***,Distoseptispora multiseptata,***,***,Dothiora buxi,Emericellopsis persica,Gloniopsis calami,Helicoma guttulatum,Helvella floriforma,***,Hermatomyces subiculosa,Ju

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus(SARS-CoV)-2 infection induces an exacerbated inflammation driven by innate immunity *** cells(DCs)play a key role in the defense against viral infections,for instance plasmacytoid DCs(pDCs),have the capacity to produce vast amounts of interferon-alpha(IFN-α).In COVID-19 there is a deficit in DC numbers and IFN-αproduction,which has been associated with disease *** this work,we described that in addition to the DC deficiency,several DC activation and homing markers were altered in acute COVID-19 patients,which were associated with multiple inflammatory ***,previously hospitalized and nonhospitalized patients remained with decreased numbers of CD1c+myeloid DCs and pDCs seven months after SARS-CoV-2 ***,the expression of DC markers such as CD86 and CD4 were only restored in previously nonhospitalized patients,while no restoration of integrinβ7 and indoleamine 2,3-dyoxigenase(IDO)levels were *** findings contribute to a better understanding of the immunological sequelae of COVID-19.
