Semi-Self-Supervised Learning for Semantic Segmentation in Images with Dense Patterns

Deep learning has shown potential in domains with large-scale annotated ***,manual annotation is expensive,time-consuming,and ***-level annotations are particularly costly for semantic segmentation in images with dense irregular patterns of object instances,such as in plant *** this work,we propose a method for developing high-performing deep learning models for semantic segmentation of such images utilizing little manual *** a use case,we focus on wheat head *** synthesize a computationally annotated dataset—using a few annotated images,a short unannotated video clip of a wheat field,and several video clips with no wheat—to train a customized U-Net *** the distribution shift between the synthesized and real images,we apply three domain adaptation steps to gradually bridge the domain *** using two annotated images,we achieved a Dice score of 0.89 on the internal test *** further evaluated on a diverse external dataset collected from 18 different domains across five countries,this model achieved a Dice score of *** expose the model to images from different growth stages and environmental conditions,we incorporated two annotated images from each of the 18 domains to further fine-tune the *** increased the Dice score to *** result highlights the utility of the proposed approach in the absence of large-annotated *** our use case is wheat head segmentation,the proposed approach can be extended to other segmentation tasks with similar characteristics of irregularly repeating patterns of object instances.

Procedure for determining the number of thermal diffusion columns in square cascade for separation of Ne stable isotopes

The thermal diffusion column represents one method of separating stable *** method is advantageous for smallscale operations because of the simplicity of the apparatus and small inventory,especially in gas-phase ***,it has attracted attention for its applicability in tritium and noble gas separation *** this study,the R cascade was used to design and determine the number of columns.A square cascade was adopted for the final design because of its flexibility,and calculations were performed to separate 20Ne and 22Ne *** the R cascades that enriched the Ne isotopes by more than 99%were investigated,the number of columns was determined,and the square cascade parameters were optimized using the specified ***,a calculation code“RSQ_CASCADE”was developed.A unit separation factor of three was considered,and the number of studied stages ranged from 10 to *** results showed that the column separation power,relative total flow rate,and required number of columns were linearly related to the number of *** separation power and relative total flow decreased and the number of columns increased as the stage number ***,a cascade of 85 columns is recommended to separate the stable Ne *** calculations yielded a 17-stage square cascade with five columns in each *** changing the stage cut,feed point,and cascade feed flow rate,the best parameters for the square cascade were determined according to the cascade and column separation *** the column separation power had a maximum value in cascade feed 50,it was selected for separating Ne isotopes.

Simultaneous Effect of Convergence and Reducing Slope of Chute Construction on the Economic of the Plan and Cavitation Index (Case Study: Daharan Dam)

The Daharan Dam, like other dams, is subject to concrete surface wear or cavitation in the chute structure. This article looks into the concurrent effects of decreasing the chute angle and slope profile changes from a single slope to a double slope and the simultaneous latitudinal convergence of the chute structure on the cavitation index and the economy of project. In order to perform this research, the geometric specifications were collected of the dam, and the chute structure as well as those of a flood with a return period of 1000 years, which make up the basis of the spillway design. Taking advantage of the numerical WS77 model, different modes were simulated with a single slope, double slope with fixed latitude, double slope with latitudinal convergence, and the cavitation index and the excavation volumes for each option were calculated. The results indicated that a decrease in slope led to a rise in the cavitation index to over 1.2 and that the convergence of the chute structure positively affected the increase in the cavitation index.
