Maintaining the integrity and longevity of structures is essential in many industries,such as aerospace,nuclear,and *** achieve the cost-effectiveness of large-scale systems in petroleum drilling,a strong emphasis on structural durability and monitoring is *** study focuses on the mechanical vibrations that occur in rotary drilling systems,which have a substantial impact on the structural integrity of drilling *** study speciﬁcally investigates axial,torsional,and lateral vibrations,which might lead to negative consequences such as bit-bounce,chaotic whirling,and high-frequency *** events not only hinder the efﬁciency of drilling but also lead to exhaustion and harm to the system’s components since they are difﬁcult to be detected and controlled in real *** study investigates the dynamic interactions of these vibrations,speciﬁcally in their high-frequency modes,usingﬁeld data obtained from measurement while ***ﬁndings have demonstrated the effect of strong coupling between the high-frequency modes of these vibrations on drilling sys-tem *** obtained results highlight the importance of considering the interconnected impacts of these vibrations when designing and implementing robust control ***,integrating these compo-nents can increase the durability of drill bits and drill strings,as well as improve the ability to monitor and detect ***,by exploiting theseﬁndings,the assessment of structural resilience in rotary drilling systems can be ***,the study demonstrates the capacity of structural health monitoring to improve the quality,dependability,and efﬁciency of rotary drilling systems in the petroleum industry.

Application Independent Dynamic Group-Based Key Establishment for Large-scale Wireless Sensor Networks

Key establishment and its management in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) is a challenging problem due to its limited resources and disordered structure. Many key management schemes have been developed recently for WSN to provide secure communication between source and destination sensor nodes.A serious threat highlighted in all of these schemes is that of node capture attacks,where an adversary gains full control over a sensor node through direct physical *** capture attacks can also be helpful to an adversary in new attacks like Blackhole and Denial of *** of these proposed key management solutions still suffer from node capture attacks with *** current sensor networks are assumed to be designed for specific applications,having key management protocols strongly coupled to *** future sensor networks are envisioned as comprising heterogeneous devices assisting to a large range of *** achieve this goal,a new application independent approach is needed. In this paper we therefore present a novel,extended version of our previously published Dynamic Group-based Key Establishment(DGKE) protocol. We compare the proposed scheme with existing key management schemes,which shows a significant improvement in resilience against node capture attacks,memory overhead and connectivity.

A CFD modeling of oil-water flow in pipeline: Interaction analysis and identification of boundary separation

The aim of this study is to simulate the flow of emulsion (immiscible liquids) which is a complex phenomenon in the petroleum industry. In this study, three types of emulsions (O/W) were simulated usingby CFD which has been applied to predict the interaction behavior of oil with water for differentemulsions (25%Oe75%W, 50%Oe50%W and 75%Oe25%W). Numerical modeling illustrated that the obtained results of the velocity profiles were very good agreement with the experimental data for threetype of emulsions. In addition, the analytical model of interaction analysis and identification of boundaryseparation for two-phase flow approve with the experimental data available, despite the emulsionsremain to be more difficulty due to the complex chemical reactions. The results of this study can providethe best solutions for corrosion during hydrocarbons transportation. Thus, CFD approach is recommended to use for numerical investigates due to the high accuracy.

Experimental hydrodynamic assessment of a cylindrical-type floating solar system exposed to waves

In this paper,an experimental investigation on the wave loads and structural motions of two semi-fixed semi-immersed horizontal cylinders type rafts in the free surface zone is *** physical mod-els are tested at the 1:4.5 scale and exposed to a range of regular and irregular waves in a wave flume at Queen’s University *** physical models and experimental setup are discussed alongside an in-vestigation of the hydrodynamic phenomena,surge forces,and dynamic responses that each structure ex-hibits in the coastal wave ***,an investigation into the wave attenuation by both mod-els is carried *** results show that the surge forces have a positive correlation with wave steepness for both *** phenomena such as wave runup and overtopping,radiative damping and reflected waves,constructive interference,diffraction and flow separation were identified during the ex-periments.A negative mean heave displacement is observed during the monochromatic sea states which could result in impact loading and submergence of the superstructure components and photovoltaic pan-els at *** results presented in this paper may be used to calibrate and verify numerical models that calculate the global responses and hydrodynamic *** may also benefit the design processes of geometrically similar floating solar technologies by providing data on surge loads,motion responses and hydrodynamic observations.

Infrared spectroscopy analyses of air-CH_4 or air-CO gas flows interacting with polycrystalline CeO_2, La_2O_3 and Lu_2O_3 oxides

A comparative study of reactivity between air-CH4 or air-CO gas flows and CeO2, La2O3 and Lu2O3 rare earth oxides was per- formed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analyses of CO2 gas resulted from the conversion of CH4 or CO gases. Polyerystalline samples of CeO2, La2O3 and Lu2O3 were first prepared by specific precipitation methods followed by low temperature calcination process. In the case of Lu2O3 oxide, a new specific route was proposed. Crystallite dimensions were determined by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analyses. Morphologies were characterized using scanning electron microscopy. Specific surface areas were determined from Bnmauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） technique. Using infrared spectroscopy analyses, the conversion rates of CH4 or CO into CO2 were de- termined from the evolutions of CO2 vibrational band intensities, as a function of time and temperature. It was dearly established that, despite its low specific surface, the Lu2O3 oxide presented the highest capacity of conversion of CH4 or CO into CO2.

This study investigates the challenges and opportunities pertaining to transportation policies that may arise as a result of emerging autonomous vehicle （AV） technologies. AV technologies can decrease the transportation cost and increase accessibility to low-income households and persons with mobility issues. This emerging technology also has far-reaching applications and implications beyond all current expectations. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the relevant literature and explores a broad spectrum of issues from safety to machine ethics. An indispensable part of a prospective AV development is communication over cars and infrastructure （connected vehicles）. A major knowledge gap exists in AV technology with respect to routing behaviors. Connected- vehicle technology provides a great opportunity to imple- ment an efficient and intelligent routing system. To this end, we propose a conceptual navigation model based on a fleet of AVs that are centrally dispatched over a network seeking system optimization literature on two fronts：（i） This study contributes to the it attempts to shed light on future opportunities as well as possible hurdles associated with AV technology; and （ii） it conceptualizes a navigation model for the AV which leads to highly efficient traffic circulations.

Rainfall patterns of Algerian steppes and the impacts on natural vegetation in the 20^th century

Since 1960, the steppe regions of North Africa have been subject to an increasing desertification, including the degradation of traditional pastures. The initially dominant species （Artemisia herba-alba, Lygeum spartum and Slipa tenacissima） declined and were progressively replaced by other species （Atractylis serratuloides and Salsola vermiculata） that are more tolerant to the new conditions. It is not clear whether these changes are due to anthropogenic reasons or climatic determinism. We have carried out a statistical analysis of the climate to detect putative rainfall changes during the 20th century in the Algerian steppes based on data from 9 meteorological stations, including 2 Saharan stations （El Oued and Touggourt）, 3 pre-Saharan stations （Biskra, Laghouat and Ain Sefra） and 4 steppe stations （Djelfa, Saida, M6ch6ria and E1-Bayadh） located in the arid high plains, which represent the bioclimate diversities of the region. Previous studies suggested that significant rainfall changes for the 20th century only had records in the south of the Oran region. Most of the studies, however, looked at restricted territories over limited periods, and did not integrate the rainiest period 2004-2014. Our work is designed to integrate all the longest time series of meteorological data available for the steppe regions of Algeria. Our results confirm the spatial rainfall distribution （significant rainfall changes only recorded in the southwestern region） evidenced by previous studies, and reveal a decreasing rainfall gradient from northeastern to southwestern Algeria. Moreover, the results reveal a trend of significant decrease of rainfall in the southern Oran region, marked by two drought periods in 1980- 1985 and 1999-2003. However, with the exception of the southwestern region, rainfall overall has not declined since the beginning of the 20th century. A Global Reduction Based Algorithm for Computing Homology of Chain Complexes

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to compute the homology of a finitely generated chain complex. Our method is based on grouping several reductions into structures that can be encoded as directed acyclic graphs. The organized reduction pairs lead to sequences of projection maps that reduce the number of generators while preserving the homology groups of the original chain complex. This sequencing of reduction pairs allows updating the boundary information in a single step for a whole set of reductions, which shows impressive gains in computational performance compared to existing methods. In addition, our method gives the homology generators for a small additional cost.

Postbuckling of Marine Stifened Composite Plates with Initial Geometric Imperfections Using Progressive Failure Analysis

This work explores the postbuckling behavior of a marine stifened composite plate in the presence of initial *** imperfection shapes are derived from buckling mode shapes and their ***,these imperfection shapes are applied to the model,and nonlinear large defection fnite element and progressive failure analyses are performed in ANSYS 18.2 *** Hashin failure criterion is employed to model the progressive failure in the stifened composite *** efect of the initial geometric imperfection on the stifened composite plate is investigated by considering various imperfection patterns and *** show that when the magnitude of the imperfection is 20 mm,the ultimate strength of the stifened composite plate decreases by 31%.Moreover,global imperfection shapes are found to be fundamental in determining the ultimate strength of stifened composite plates and their postbuckling.
