The research aims to provide an alternative to austempering treatment of ductile cast iron with a simple and cost-effective heat-treatment *** goal was accomplished by applying a simple one-step spheroidization heat treatment to the as-cast ductile iron,which would normally possess a coarse pearlitic microstructure to a significant *** experiments involving isothermal holding below the lower critical temperature(A1)were conducted followed by standard mechanical testing and microstructural characterization for an experimental ductile *** improving the spheroidization holding time at a given temperature,the work shows that the ductility and toughness of an as-cast ductile iron can be improved by 90%and 40%,respectively,at the cost of reducing the tensile strength by 8%.Controlled discretization of the continuous cementite network in pearlitic matrix of the ductile iron is deemed responsible for the improved *** work also shows that prolonged holding time during spheroidization heat treatment leads to degradation of mechanical properties due to the inhomogenous microstructure formation caused by heterogeneous decomposition and cementite clustering in the *** main outcome of this work is the demonstration of ductile cast iron’s necking behavior due to spheroidization heat treatment.

The preparation of natural rubber based isotropic thick magnetorheological elastomers(MrE) was focused on by varying the percentage volume concentration of carbonyl iron powder and developing a test set up to test the dynamic properties. Effect of magnetic field on the damping ratio was studied on the amplification region of the transmissibility curve. The viscoelastic dynamic damping nature of the elastomer was also studied by analyzing the force-displacement hysteresis graphs. The results show that Mr effect increases with the increase in magnetic field as well as carbonyl iron powder particle concentration. It is observed that softer matrix material produces more Mr effect. A maximum of 125% improvement in the loss factor is observed for the MrE with 25% carbonyl iron volume concentration. FEMM simulation shows that as carbonyl iron particle distribution becomes denser, Mr effect is improved. FEMM analysis also reveals that if the distance between the adjacent iron particles are reduced from 20 μm to 10 μm, a 40% increase in stored energy is observed.

The electrocatalytic activity of electrodeposited Ni and Ni–TiO2 coatings with regard to the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction（HEr） was investigated. The Ni coatings were electrodeposited from an acid chloride bath at different current densities, and their HEr activities were examined in a 1.0-mol·L^-1 KOH medium. The variations in the HEr activity of the Ni coatings with changes in surface morphology and composition were examined via the electrochemical dissolution and incorporation of nanoparticles. Electrochemical analysis methods were used to monitor the HEr activity of the test electrodes; this activity was confirmed via the quantification of gases that evolved during the analysis. The obtained results demonstrated that the Ni–TiO2 nanocomposite test electrode exhibited maximum activity toward the alkaline HEr. The surface appearance, composition, and the phase structure of all developed coatings were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, energy dispersive spectroscopy（EDS）, and X-ray diffraction（XrD）, respectively. The improvement in the electrocatalytic activity of Ni–TiO2 nanocomposite coating toward HEr was attributed to the variation in surface morphology and increased number of active sites.

Investigations on Heat Transfer Enhancement in Pool Boiling with Water-CuO Nano-Fluids

The main focus of the present work is to investigate Critical Heat Flux (CHF) enhancement using CuO nanofluid relative to CHF of pure water. To estimate the effect of nanoparticles on the CHF, pool boiling CHF values were measured for various volume concentrations of CuO nanofluid and compared with pure water. CHF enhancement of 130% was recorded at 0.2 % by volume of CuO nano-fluids. Surface roughness of the heater surface exposed to three measured heating cycles indicated surface modifications at different volume concentrations of nanofluid. SEM image of the heater surface revealed porous layer build up, which is thought to be the reason for CHF enhancement.

The celebrated Majorana representation is exploited to investigate spin squeezing in different classes of pure symmetric states of N qubits with two distinct spinors, namely the Dicke-class of states. On obtaining a general expression for spin squeezing parameter, the variation of squeezing for different configurations is studied in detail. It is shown that the states in the Dicke-class, characterized by two-distinct non-orthogonal spinors, exhibit squeezing.
