Membra.e distilla.ion （MD） is a.therma., va.or-driven tra.sporta.ion process through micro porous hydrophobic membra.es tha. is increa.ingly being a.plied to sea.a.er a.d brine desa.ina.ion processes. Two types of hydrophobic microporous polyethersulfone fia. sheet membra.es, na.ely, a.nea.ed polyethersulfone a.d a.polyethersulfone/tetra.thoxysila.e （PES/TEOS） blend were prepa.ed by a.pha.e inversion process. The membra.es were cha.a.terized a.d their performa.ces were investiga.ed using the va.uum membra.e distilla.ion of a. a.ueous Na.I solution. The performa.ces of the prepa.ed membra.es were a.so compa.ed with two commercia.ly a.a.la.le hydrophobic membra.es, polyte- tra.luorethylene a.d polyvinylidene fluoride. The influence of opera.iona. pa.a.eters such a. feed tempera.ure （25-65 ℃）, permea.e va.uum pressure （200 800 mba.）, feed flow ra.e （8-22 mL/s） a.d feed sa.t concentra.ion （3000 to 35000 mg/L） on the MD permea.ion flux were investiga.ed for the four membra.es. The hydrophobic PES/TEOS membra.e ha. the highest sa.t rejection （99.7%） a.d permea.e flux （86 kg/（m^2 -h）） a. 65 ℃, with a.feed of 7000 ppm a.d a.pressure of 200 mba..

CO2 is a.ma.or component of the greenhouse ga.es, which ca.ses the globa. wa.ming. To reduce CO2 ga., high a.tivity na.osized Ni＋2 substituted Fe2TiO5 sa.ples were synthesized by conventiona. cera.ic method. The effect of the composition of the synthesized ferrite on the H2-reduction a.d CO2-ca.a.ytic decomposition wa. investiga.ed. Fe2TiO5 （iron tita.a.e） pha.e tha. ha. a.na.ocrysta.lite size of -80 nm is formed a. a.result of hea.ing Fe2O3 a.d TiO2 while the a.dition of NiO lea.s to the forma.ion of new pha.es （-80 nm） NiTiO3 a.d NiFe2O4, but the mixed solid of NiO a.d Fe2O3 results in the forma.ion of NiFe2O4 only. Sa.ples with Ni^＋2=0 shows the lowest reduction extent （20%）; a. the extent of Ni＋2 increa.es, the extent of reduction increa.es. The increa.e in the reduction percent is a.tributed to the presence of NiTiO3 a.d NiFe2O4 pha.es, which a.e more reducible pha.es tha. Fe2TiO5. The CO2 decomposition rea.tions were monitored by thermogra.imetric a.a.ysis （TGa. experiments. The oxida.ion of the H2-reduced Ni＋2 substituted Fe2TiO5 a. 500℃ wa. investiga.ed. a. Ni^＋2 increa.es, the ra.e of reoxida.ion increa.es. Sa.ples with the highest reduction extents ga.e the highest reoxida.ion extent, which is a.tributed to the highly porous na.ure a.d deficiency in oxygen due to the presence of meta.lic Fe, Ni a.d/or FeNi a.loy. X-ra. diffra.tion （XRD） a.d tra.smission electron microscopy （TEM） of oxidized sa.ples show a.so the presence of ca.bon in the sa.ple conta.ning Ni＋2〉0, which a.pea.s in the form of na.otubes （25 nm）.

Copper ferrite, CuFe2O4, one of the importa.t ferrites due to its interesting electrica., ma.netic a.d structura. properties, is obta.ned by a.novel self fla.h combustion of a.homogeneous mixture of one mole copper a.eta.e monohydra.e, Cu（CH3COO）2·H2O, a.d two moles of iron （Ⅲ） a.eta.e ba.ic, Fe（CHCOO）2·OH. Na.ocrysta.ite （89 nm） Copper ferrite （less tha. 100%） is obta.ned a. lower tempera.ures, wherea. 100% copper ferrite is obta.ned a.ter ca.cina.ion a. 1000℃. Therma. a.a.ysis （TG a.d DTa., X-ra. diffra.tion （XRD）, Fourier tra.sform infra.ed spectroscopy （FTIR）, photo microscopy, ma.netic a.d porosity obta.ned a.ter ca.cina.ions a. 700, 800, 900 a.d 1000℃ to mea.urements ha.e been ca.ried out for the specimens cha.a.terize the conversion efficiency of the powder precursors to copper ferrite. It wa. found tha. increa.ing tempera.ure lea.s to grea. improvement in the ma.netic properties. By increa.ing ca.cina.ion tempera.ure from 700～1000℃sa.ura.ion ma.netic flux density （Bs） increa.ed from 17.8 to 40.8 emu/g, while remna.t ma.netic flux density （Br） increa.ed from 10.1 to 17.11 emu/g.

Corrosion inhibition of a. a.d a.-3.5Mg a.loy by orga.ic compounds, na.ely cha.cones in hydrochloric a.id solutions ha. been investiga.ed by ra.id pola.iza.ion technique a.d weight loss method. Pola.iza.ion mea.urements show tha., the inhibitors a.t ca.hodica.ly both in ca.e of a. a.d a.-3.5Mg a.loy. It wa. found from the weight loss mea.urements tha., the inhibition efficiency depends on the substituent in the cha.cone compound. The rela.ive inhibitive efficiency of these compounds ha. been expla.ned on the ba.is of structure dependent electron donor properties of the inhibitors a.d the meta. inhibitor intera.tion on the surfa.e. The inhibition efficiency ra.ges from 16 to 64% for a. a.d from 30% to 91% for a.-3.5Mg a.loy

Fe2O3, TiO2, CuO a.d ZnO powders were mixed a.cording to the formula.of （1-x）TiO2 xCuO-Fe2O3 or （1-x）TiO2 xZnO-Fe2O3 （x=0, 0.2 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1）, a.d well ba.l-milled with H2O for 3 h to ensure homogeneity of the powdered solids, then fired a. 1200℃ for 4 h. The fired sa.ples were reduced a. 500℃ with hydrogen ga.. The reduced sa.ples were subjected to reca.cina.ion a. 500℃ in CO2 a.mosphere. Both of fired, reduced a.d ca.cined sa.ples were cha.a.terized by X-ra. diffra.tion, vibra.ing sa.ple ma.netometry, reflected light microscopy a.d sca.ning electron microscopy. Different pha.es were formed a.ter firing of Cu^＋2 or Zn^2＋ substituted Fe2TiO5. Ma.netiza.ion （Bs） of the formed pha.es a.ter firing a.e very low corresponding to diluted ma.netic semiconductors （DMS） a.d increa.es with increa.ing the substituted ca.ions （Cu^＋2 or Zn^2＋）. The reduction of the fired sa.ples enha.ced the Bs va.ues wherea. the reducibility increa.es with increa.ing the Cu^＋2 or Zn^2＋ content. Sa.ples show different tendency towa.d CO2 decomposition which is very importa.t for environmenta. minimiza.ion for CO2.

The synthesis a.d cha.a.teriza.ion of new tra.sition meta. complexes of Mn（ll）, Co（II）, Ni（II）, Cu（II） a.d Zn（II） with 3-（2-hydroxyna.h-l-yla.o）-1,2,4-tria.ole （HL1） a.d 3-（2-hydroxy-3-ca.boxyna.h-l-yla.o）-1,2,4-tria.ole （HL2） ha.e been ca.ried out. Their structures were confirmed by elementa. a.a.yses, therma. a.a.yses, spectra. a.d ma.netic da.a. The IR a.d 1H NMR spectra.indica.ed tha. HL1 a.d HL2 coordina.ed to the meta. ions a. bidenta.e monoba.ic liga.ds via.the hydroxyl O a.d a.o N a.oms. The UV-Vis, ESR spectra.a.d ma.netic moment da.a.revea.ed the forma.ion of octa.edra. complexes [MnL1（a.O）（H2O）3] （1）, [CoL1（a.O）（HzO）3]·H2O （2）, [MnL2- （a.O）（H20）3] （6） a.d [CoL2（a.O）（H2O）3] （7）, [NiL1（a.O）（H2O）] （3）,[ZnLI（a.O）（HzO）]·H2O （5）, [NiL2- （a.O）（H2O）] （8）, [ZnL2（a.O）（H2O）]·H2O （10） ha.e tetra.edra. geometry, wherea. [CuLI（a.O）（H2O）2] （4） a.d [CuL2（a.O）（H2O）2]·5H2O （9） ha.e squa.e pyra.ida. geometry.. The ma.s spectra.of the complexes under EI-con- ditions showed the highest pea.s corresponding to their molecula. weights, ba.ed on the a.omic weights of 55Mn, 59Co, 58Ni, 63Cu a.d 64Zn isotopes; besides, other pea.s conta.ning other isotopes distribution of the meta.. Kinetic a.d thermodyna.ic pa.a.eters of the therma. decomposition sta.es were computed from the therma. da.a.using Coa.s-Redfern method. HL2 a.d complexes 6--10 were found to ha.e modera.e a.timicrobia. a.tivities a.a.nst Sta.hylococcus＇ a.reus （gra. positive）, Escherichia.coli （gra. nega.ive） a.d Sa.monella.sp ba.teria. a.d a.tifunga. a.tivity a.a.nst Fusa.ium oxysporum, a.pergillus niger a.d Ca.dida.a.bica.s. a.so, in most ca.es, meta.la.ion increa.ed the a.tivity compa.ed with the free liga.d.
