Diagnosis and treatment of pancreas divisum: A literature review

Background:Pancreas divisum is a congenital embryological disease caused by a lack of fusion between the ventral and dorsal pancreatic ducts in the early stages of *** acute pancreatitis,chronic pancreatitis or chronic abdominal pain are the main clinical syndromes at presentation and occur in only 5%of the patients with pancreas *** review aimed to discuss diagnosis and treatment strategies in patients with symptomatic pancreas *** sources:We report a literature review from 1990 up to January 2018 to explore the various diagnostic modalities and surgical techniques and results reported in the surgical treatment of pancreas ***:There are limited reports available on this topic in the *** analyzed and described the main indications in the treatment of pancreas divisum,focusing on surgical treatment and a discussion of the different ***,we report the results from our experience in two cases of pancreas divisum treated by pancreatic head resection with segmental duodenectomy(the Nakao procedure).conclusions:Pancreas divisum is a common pancreatic malformation in which only a few patients develop a symptomatic *** treatment is needed in case of endoscopic drainage failure and in cases complicated with chronic pancreatitis and local *** techniques,of greater or lesser complexity,have been proposed.

Multiphase modeling of fluid dynamic in ladle steel operations under non-isothermal conditions

A numerical simulation was performed to study the flow pattern,mixing time and open-eye slag produced by argon gas injection in an industrial scale steel ladle under non-isothermal *** liquid steel remains 5min before the injection,and thermal stratification and convective flows were *** different sequences in stages employing various argon-gas flow rates were *** the first case,a sequence with the highest flow rates of argon was applied,while in the second and the third sequences,the intermediate and the lowest flow rates of argon gas were used,*** determining the chemistry homogenization,the mixing time was computed and analyzed in all three *** was found that the cold steel is located near the walls while the steel with a high temperature is accumulated in the center of the ladle above the argon-gas *** higher and lower flows promote a faster chemistry homogenization owing to the secondary recirculations that are developed closer to the *** results from steel temperature drop show a good concordance with plant trial measurements.

complementary analysis of microsatellite tumor profile and mismatch repair defects in colorectal carcinomas

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a prognostic factor and a marker of defi cient mismatch repair (MMR) in colorectal adenocarcinomas (CRC). However, a proper application of this marker requires understanding the following: (1) The MSI concept: The PCR approach must amplify the correct locus and accurately identify the microsatellite pattern in the patient’s normal tissue. MSI is demonstrat- ed when the length of DNA sequences in a tumor differs from that of nontumor tissue. Any anomalous expansion or reduction of tandem repeats results in extra-bands normally located in the expected size range (100 bp, above or below the expected product), differ from the germline pattern by some multiple of the repeating unit, and must show appropriate stutter. (2) MSI mechanisms: MMR gene inactivation (by either mutation or protein down-regulation as frequently present in deep CRC com- partments) leads to mutation accumulation in a cell with every cellular division, resulting in malignant transforma- tion. These mechanisms can express tumor progression and result in a decreased prevalence of aneuploid cells and loss of the physiologic cell kinetic correlations in the deep CRC compartments. MSI molecular mechanisms are not necessarily independent from chromosomal in- stability and may coexist in a given CRC. (3) Because of intratumoural heterogeneity, at least two samples from each CRC should be screened, preferably from the su- perfi cial (tumor cells above the muscularis propria) and deep (tumor cells infi ltrating the muscularis propria) CRC compartments to cover the topographic tumor hetero- geneity. (4) Pathologists play a critical role in identify- ing microsatellite-unstable CRC, such as occur in young patients with synchronous or metachronous tumors or with tumors showing classic histologic features. BACKGROUND Suicide is a leading cause of preventable death worldwide,with its peak of maximum incidence in later *** often puts an individual at higher risk for suicidal *** turn,depression deserves particular interest in old age due to its high prevalence and dramatic impact on health and *** To gather integrated evidence on the potential risk factors for suicide behaviour development in depressive older adults,and to examine the effects of depression treatment to tackle suicide behaviour in this *** A systematic review of empirical studies,published from 2000 onwards,was *** behaviour was addressed considering its varying forms(i.e.,wish to die,ideation,attempt,and completed suicide).RESULTS Thirty-five papers were selected for review,comprising both clinical and epidemiological *** of studies focused on suicidal ideation(60%).The studies consistently pointed out that the risk was related to depressive episode severity,psychiatric comorbidity(anxiety or substance use disorders),poorer health status,and loss of *** social support and loneliness were also associated with suicide behaviour in depressive older ***,the intervention studies showed that suicidal behaviour was a robust predictor of depression treatment *** in suicidal ideation were moderated by reductions in risk factors for suicide *** To sum up,common and age-specific risk factors seem to be involved in suicide development in depressive older adults.A major effort should be made to tackle this serious public health concern so as to promote older people to age healthily and well.

Sand attrition in conical spouted beds

A study was carried out on the attrition in conical spouted beds using two sands with different properties for several bed heights and gas flow rates. Furthermore, the influence of a draft tube was studied at ambient and high temperatures. The main objective was to acquire knowledge on the attrition of sand beds for biomass pyrolysis in a pilot plant provided with a conical spouted bed reactor. A first-order kinetic equation is proposed for sand attrition in a conical spouted bed at room temperature. The predicted attrition rate constant depends exponentially on excess air velocity over that for minimum spouting. Both the draft tube and temperature increase contribute to reduction of attrition.

Earth observation satellites produce large amounts of images/data that not only must be processed and preserved in reliable geospatial platforms but also efficiently disseminated among partners/researchers for creating derivative products through collaborative *** can face up this challenge in a cost-effective manner by using cloud ***,outages and violations of integrity/confidentiality associated to this technology could *** article presents FedIDS,a suite of cloud-based components for building dependable geospatial *** Fed component enables organizations to build shared geospatial data infrastructure through federation of independent cloud resources to withstand outages,whereas IDS avoids violations of integrity/confidentiality of images/data in sharing information and collaboration workflows.A FedIDS prototype,deployed in Spain and Mexico,was evaluated through a study case based on a satellite imagery captured by a Mexican antenna and another based on a satellite imagery of a European observation *** acquisition,storage and sharing of images among users of the federation,the exchange of images between Mexican and Spanish sites and outage scenarios were *** evaluation revealed the feasibility,reliability and efficiency of FedIDS,in comparison with available solutions,in terms of performance,storage consume and integrity/confidentiality when sharing images/data in collaborative scenarios.

Germinal centers(GCs)are essential for the establishment of long-lasting antibody *** B cells rely on post-transcriptional RNA mechanisms to translate activation-associated transcriptional programs into functional changes in the cell ***,the critical proteins driving these key mechanisms are still ***,we show that the RNA binding proteins TIA1 and TIAL1 are required for the generation of long-lasting GC ***1-and TIAL1-deficient GC B cells fail to undergo antigen-mediated positive selection,expansion and differentiation into B-cell clones producing high-affinity ***,TIA1 and TIAL1 control the transcriptional identity of dark-and light-zone GC B cells and enable timely expression of the prosurvival molecule ***,we demonstrate here that TIA1 and TIAL1 are key players in the post-transcriptional program that selects high-affinity antigen-specific GC B cells.

Geometric triangular chiral hexagon complexes and clonal embryogenic body organization on the Turin Shroud crucified man image: A predictable tissue response to injury

The shroud continues to remain one of the most studied and controversial artifacts in human history. many tests, X-ray fluorescence, reflectance, spectrometry and low energy/high-resolution X ray transmission have shown that the crucified body is not compatible with a painted image. Researchers confirm that the alleged blood is real blood. We documented the self-assembly of geometric triangular chiral hexagon complex (GTCHC) with structural organization of embryoid bodies in cancer tissues. The identification of these structures is not only limited to malignant tumors but also appears in extreme injured tissues. Our interest is to determine if we can predict and identify these patterns in the Shroud of Turin. Based on pattern recognition image was analyzed over 100 shroud images. We identified a central spectral emission line that exhibits a characteristic signature on a plot of residual electromagnetic radiation, head area narrowing and low extremities broadening, indication of decay energy changes in the velocity of the molecules in the traversal trajectory. This Electromagnetic collision event generates in the cloth stagnant blood areas with patterns identical to those identified for us in cancer damage tissues. Inflammatory cytokines activate stem cells and Notch signaling proteins in cascade of interactions to generate real clonal human embryoid template. Can we predict function from structure? These structures evoke life, regeneration, but not death. Our findings suggest the image of a crucified man on the Shroud of Turin is a real physical electromagnetic collision event in response to extreme tissue injury, with the fact that supports our previous findings in cancer tissues as real and predictable. Proteins derived from these emergent damage tissue derivate stem cells could be used to design biologic templates in regenerative medicine and develop novel strategies in cancer therapy.
