Introduction: The involvement of men in reproductive health programmes and more specifically in family planning has always been of concern to the various development actors at both national and international levels. Objective: To study the births, ideas and opinions of men on Family Planning in the village of Tourourou. material and Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional, descriptive and analytic study from February 1 to July 31, 2020 in the village of TOUROUROU on the Knowledge, Attitudes and Perceptions of Men on Family Planning. We included in our study, all men residing in TOUROUROU whose age is between 14 and 99 years, who agreed to participate in the study. Results: Our study involved 200 men. The 25 - 29 age group was the most represented with 25.5%. The Soninke had represented 41%. In our study, 97.5% of men had heard of family planning, 62% had spontaneously cited at least one modern contraceptive method, and the pill ranked first with 64.5%. Radio and friends were the most frequent sources of information with 57.5% and 54.5% respectively. Birth spacing was the most cited family planning goal by men in 43.5% of cases. Men supported the practice of family planning in 50.5% of cases. Conclusion: In the village of Tourourou men play a crucial role in decision-making concerning the health of the couple and the family, their effective involvement in Reproductive Health especially in Family Planning will contribute enormously to the improvement of the health of the family.

Introduction: Chronic renal failure is a real public health problem because of its prevalence, the cost of its management and the high morbidity and mortality rate associated with it. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency, causes and main aggravating factors of chronic renal failure in the medical department of the hospital of Sikasso. materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive study conducted in the medical department of the Sikasso hospital from January 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022. It covered all the records of patients with chronic renal failure hospitalized in the department during this period. The MDRD formula was used to estimate the glomerular filtration rate. The KDIGO 2012 classification was used to stage CKD. Results: Of 820 patient records reviewed, we retained 197 records. The mean age of our patients was 42.25 ± 10 years. The male sex represented 114 (57.9%). The socio-economic level was considered low and precarious in 79.8% of cases. The frequency of chronic renal failure was 24%. The reason for hospitalization was mostly hyper creatinine > 185 μmol/l (92.4%). Herbal medicine was reported in 103 cases (52.3%). Medical history was hypertension 101 cases (51.3%), undocumented gastro duodenal ulcer (UGD) 14 cases (7.6%), hypertension and diabetes 11 cases (5.1%), diabetes 8 cases (4%), lower limb edema 9 cases (4.6%). Hypocalcemia was 147 cases (75.6%) with hyper phosphoremia was 153 cases (77.7%). Hemoglobin level was: <6 g/dl, 44 cases (22.3%);between 6 - 8 g/dl, 77 cases (39.1%), from 8 - 10 g/dl, 54 cases (27.4%). The etiologies of CKD were vascular nephropathy 106 cases (53.8%), interstitial nephropathy, 44 cases (22.3%), glomerular nephropathy, 33 cases (16.8%), diabetic nephropathy, 12 cases (6.1%) and polycystic kidney disease 2 (1%). CKD was classified as stage 5, 171 cases (86.8%), stage 4, 11 cases (5.6%), stage 3, 13 cases (6.6%) and stage 2, 2 cases (1%.) Dialysis was performed in 1095

The appendicular peritonitis is complications of acute appendicitis which are characterized by the diffusion of the infectious process to the peritoneal cavity thus carrying out a generalized or located purulent peritonitis. It can appear from the start or follow the stage of appendicular abscess. Our objectives were to determine the frequency, to describe the clinic and para clinic aspects, to identify the principal germs and their sensitivities to antibiotics and to describe the operative continuations. Prevalence of Severe Anemia (Hb ≤ 5 g/dl) in Non-Dialyzed Chronic Renal Failure Patients in the Nephrology and Hemodialysis Department of Point G University Hospital

Introduction: Chronic renal failure (CRF) is defined as glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60 ml/min/1.73m2 for at least three (3) months. Anemia is one of its most common complications. Anemia increases the risk factor for cardiovascular mortality by 18% per gram of hemoglobin loss. Objectives: To determine the prevalence and characteristics of this severe anemia, to determine the indications for transfusion, the complications related to this anemia, the evolution and the prognosis of these patients. materials and Methods: This was a descriptive study with retrospective data collection over 18 months (January 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018) that included hospitalized CRF patients. Were included, non-dialyzed chronic renal failure patients with Hb ≤ 5 g/dl hospitalized during the said period. Not included were chronic renal failure patients with an Hb level ≥ 5 g/dl, those followed up and/or hospitalized outside the study period. Results: Among 1176 patients, 26 had severe anemia (Hb level ≤ 5 g/dl) on CRF, a prevalence of 2.21%. The mean age was 40 years ± 32.62 with extremes of 15 and 67 years. Seventeen women and 9 men. The etiology of chronic renal failure (CRF) was hypertensive vascular nephropathy in 50% of cases. CRF was end-stage in 18 patients (69.2%). The mean hemoglobin level was 4.10 g/dl ± 0.64 with extremes of 2 and 5 g/dl. The anemia was microcytic hypochromic in 50% and aregenerative (96.2%). The main symptoms were asthenia in 20 cases (76.9%), dizziness in 20 cases (76.9%), exertional dyspnea in 19 cases (73.1%). Signs of cardiac decompensation (n = 12) were jugular turgor 10 cases (38.5%), hepato-jugular reflux 06 cases (23.1%), mitral insufficiency murmur 06 cases (23.1%). The main complication was left ventricular hypertrophy 17 cases (77.3%). There was no correlation between anemia and sex (p = 0.291), age (p = 0.778), malaria (p = 0.158), etiology of CRF (p = 0.26)

Introduction: Sigmoid colon volvulus is a medico-surgical emergency which represents a common cause of colonic occlusion, it is characterized by strangulation of the sigmoid loop around its meso colic axis producing low mechanical occlusion [1]. Apart from this form conventionally described, the volvulus of the sigmoid colon can occur along an organoaxial axis. This form has been highlighted in the literature thanks to the diagnostic contribution of multi-detector scanners [2]. Objective: To determine the hospital frequency of sigmoid colon volvulus;to write the clinical and para-clinical aspects of sigmoid colon volvulus;write down the different treatments used for the management of sigmoid colon volvulus.

Diagnosis and Therapeutic Aspects of the Ileo-Sigmoidian Node in the General Surgery Department of Gabriel Toure Chu

Introduction: Emergency medico-surgical ileosigmoid node is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction. Diagnosis and treatment must be prompt. Objective: To determine the frequency of NIS, to describe the diagnostic aspects, therapeutic aspects and to analyze the postoperative effects. Methodology: Retrospective and prospective study from January 2006 to December 2020 including all patients operated on for ileosigmoid node confirmed by the intraoperative diagnosis at the CHU Gabriel Touré. Results: From January 2006 to December 2020 (15 years), 30 cases of ileo-sigmoid node were recorded in the service. During this period NIS accounted for 0.19% of surgeries. Abdominal pain was present in (100%) of cases, vomiting was present in 80% and cessation of materials and gas (57%). All of our patients underwent ASP and CT (1 case). All of our patients were operated on, and exploration revealed intestinal necrosis in 97%. The surgical procedures performed were colostomy according to HARTMANN (63%), anastomosis resection (16%), devolvulation (10%). Restoration of continuity was achieved in (73%). The postoperative consequences were straightforward in (80%). Morbidity was 17% including infection of the lining. Mortality was 3% (1 case). Conclusion:<

Our objectives were to determine the frequency of breast cancer in young women, to determine the risk factors for breast cancer in young women, to detail the diagnostic process of the disease, to determine the different therapeutic strategies. This was a retrospective and descriptive study going from January 2005 to December 2021, a period of 17 years. The study involved 87 women with an average age of 33.2 years. Patients consulted 66 times or 75.9% for breast mass. The size of the tumor was greater than or equal to 5 cm in 62 patients;it was localized in the supero external quadrant 41 times or 47.1%. Molecular classification revealed the following results: Luminal A 21.4%;receptive (HER2) positive 28.6%, and triple negative 42.9%. Stage II was the most represented with 47.4%. Histology found infiltrating carcinoma of non-specific type in 76 patients. The treatment was mastectomy axillary dissection in 66 patients, quadrantectomy + axillary dissection in 6 cases (6.9%) associated with radiotherapy in 6 patients, chemotherapy was performed in 79 of our patients and hormone therapy in 10 patients. Conclusion: Breast cancer is frequent in our country. Patients generally consult us at a late stage. The possibility of determining certain receptors and carrying out certain non-surgical treatments on site would improve the prognosis.

Foreign Bodies from the Upper Digestive Tract at University Hospital Center Gabriel Touré: The Contribution of Digestive Endoscopy

Foreign bodies ingestion is regularly observed in gastroenterology context. The evolution is favorable with early extraction. Our main objective was to evaluate foreign bodies managed in digestive endoscopic center of University hospital center Gabriel Touré. The study was retrospective from January 2007 to October 2017 in the endoscopic center of the service of gastroenterology of University hospital center Gabriel Touré and concerned the patients who have been addressed at this center for foreign bodies. We collated 44 patients who ingested foreign bodies among 2750 digestive endoscopies, that is to say, a frequency of 0.16%. In patient’s history, we found caustic obstruction in 2.3% of patients. The foreign body ingestion was accidental in 97.7% of cases. Pieces of money were more frequent (54.4%). In 86.4%, the foreign bodies were into the esophagus. Upper digestive endoscopy performed foreign bodies extraction in 88.6 of cases. In 9.1%, the elimination was spontaneous on 72 hours. Surgeon was indicated in 2.3% of patients. The evolution was favorable in 97.7% of patients. One patient died by digestive bleeding. Conclusion: Foreign bodies ingestion is frequent in children. The upper digestive endoscopy can do the diagnosis and the management.

Objective: Provide the place of ENT diseases at the Reference Health Center of the Commune V of Bamako. materials and Method: A cross-sectional study using ENT medical assessment was carried out from January 2017 to December 2017 at the Reference Health Center of Commune V of Bamako’s District. Results: 1911 patients were included and that number represented 15.46% of all non-obstetrics medical consultations in the health center. The sex ratio was 0.83 for women (54.7%). The average age was 22 years old. Otologic diseases were 66.4% of the cases followed by nasal sinus cases (16.6%). Infectious and inflammatory diseases were 74.1% and were the main diagnosed diseases. The difficulties were mainly from technical platform. Conclusion: The diversity of these pathologies required a strong development or reinforcement of human and material resources capacities in of these structures for proximity care management.

Introduction: Giant hernias induce changes which reduce the quality of life of patients and make their surgical management complex. Adequate preoperative preparation of the patient guarantees good postoperative progress. It is necessary to avoid resorting to a technique of separation of the compartments during the cure. Here we report the case of a patient who benefited a successful cure using the Ramirez technique. Observation: We report the case of a 60-year-old patient admitted to an outpatient clinic for abdominal swelling evolving for 30 years without the notion of trauma gradually increasing in volume. The interrogation and physical examination led to the diagnosis of a giant white line hernia with incarceration. A preoperative assessment and a preanesthetic consultation were carried out. Intraoperatively, the cecum, transverse colon, sigmoid, jejunum and greater omentum were incarcerated in the bag. After adhesiolysis we proceeded to resect the bag and cure it using the Ramirez technique. The consequences were simple and the patient was discharged on day 4 after her dressing and was seen on day 15, 1 month, 3 months and 1 year. The patient benefited from the placement of an abdominal compression sheath for 3 months. Conclusion: Success in the management of prosthetic material in the absence of prosthetic material depends on good preoperative preparation and the mastery of certain surgical techniques.
