This work presents a study about the chemical structure of titanium oxide (TiO) particles synthesized by plasmas using titanium tetrapropoxide, Ti(-O-CH2-CH2-CH3)4. In plasmas, practically all chemical bonds are susceptible to participate in the reactions producing different results than those obtained by the traditional chemical routes. The particles obtained this way are semispheres and fibers grouped in random and layered structures in the 120-500 nm interval and mean diameter of 86.4 nm (fibers) and 308.6 nm (semispheres). The analysis of the resulting TiO structure was performed by IR and XPS finding that the main chemical state of Ti in these conditions was O2-Ti-O2 (Ti surrounded by O) which is part of the precursor structure, however, in O, the main chemical state was Ti-O-Ti formed with the rupture of the pre- cursor Ti-O-C bonds. These last bonds reduce the conjugation between the structure of both elements, O2-Ti-O2 and Ti-O-Ti, to produce organometallic compounds. Other chemical states appeared showing consecutive dehydrogenation steps during the synthesis with the formation of multiple bonds as a consequence of the continuous collisions in the plasma. These results allow us to follow the chemical reactions promoted by this kind of plasmas to produce TiO nanoparticles which are essentially conformed of intensive dehydrogenation.

Acetic acid can be directly produced from glucose in one-step fermentation by using yeasts of the genus Brettanomyces bruxellensis, hence increasing the industrial application to manufacture products with simplified bioprocesses. Thereby, this work evaluates the influence of initial glucose concentration on the growth and acetic acid production by B. bruxellensis. The results obtained confirmed the presence of Crabtree effect on B. bruxellensis under low glucose concentrations. The maximum acetic acid concentration reached was 15.4 g·L-1 starting with 100 g·L-1 leading to a product yield of 0.154 g·g-1 and a specific acetic acid production rate of 0.05 g·g-1·h-1. The results also indicate that after reaching the acetic acid critic threshold of 4 g·L-1 the metabolism can induce the growth second phase even residual glucose was present on the culture media at high starting glucose concentrations. Additionally, it was observed a lineal relationship between cell viability and acetic acid production.

This work presents a study about the structure and morphology of thin plasma composite films of polythiophene (PTh) with metallic particles of Ti (PTh-Ti). The objective was to study the water affinity and electric conductivity in PTh with the addition of metallic phases. The hydrophilicity was studied with the contact angles formed between water and surfaces, and the electric conductivity was calculated with the resistance measured in a two-probe device. The structure and morphology of the composites were studied with X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated that PTh-Ti formed thin films of hybrid composites with oxidized Ti and Fe additional particles released from the electrodes used in the syntheses. The metallic fraction resulted in 2 diffraction angles at 31.6° and 66.1° product of the complex interaction among Ti, resembling orthorhombic TiO2 structures, and PTh. The metallic particles and iodine, added as a dopant to the composites to increase conductivity, reduced the hydrophilicity with water in a competition between roughness and chemical composition. In these conditions, the contact angles resulted between 46° and 75°. The electric conductivity was about 10-6 S/m increasing one order of magnitude with the metallic fraction. However, the high resistance of the polymeric fraction apparently dominates the transference of charges.

Objective： To evaluate the effect of chitosan （CH） and hydrogen peroxide （H2O） seed coatings and seedling sprinklings on two different maize varieties by measuring their phenology, the H202 presence, the catalase （CAT） activity, and the protein quantity. Methods： Seven groups of ten seeds for each maize variety were treated with CH （2% （20 g/L） and 0.2% （2 g/L）） or H2O2 （8 mmol/L） by coating, sprinkling, or both. Germination and seedling growth were measured. One month after germination, the presence of H202 in seedlings in the coated seed treatments was evaluated. Protein content and CAT activity were determined under all treatments. Results： H2O2 seed coating en- hanced the germination rate and increased seedling and stem length in the quality protein maize （QPM） variety. Seedlings had a higher emergence velocity under this treatment in both varieties. CH and H2O2 sprinklings did not have an effect on seedling phenology. Exogenous application of H2O2 promoted an increase of endogenousH2O2. OH and H2O2seedling sprinkling increased the protein content in both maize varieties, while there was no significant effect on the CAT activity of treated seeds and seedlings. Conclusions： CH and H2O2 enhance some phenological and biochemical features of maize depending on their method of application.

High blood pressure is the main risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, it affects many people worldwide and is a public health problem. This study explored the acute and chronic actions of a mixture of turmeric (95% curcumin) plus black pepper (95% piperine) extracts, in the blood pressure pattern in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) along they age. For the acute study male adult (4 - 7 months old) SHR and their control Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) were used. A single oral dose of the mixture of turmeric/black pepper extracts (200 mg/2mg, respectively) suspension was administered. Tail-cuff was used to determine blood pressure during 180 min. For the chronic study, young (1-month-old) male SHR and their control WKY rats were fed with standard chow, or standard chow combined with cocoa, or combined with cocoa plus the mixture of turmeric/black pepper extracts;tail-cuff was used to determine blood pressure once a week, along 12 weeks. In a second chronic assay adult (5 months old) male SHR and their control WKY rats were fed with standard chow, or standard chow combined with cocoa, or combined with cocoa plus the mixture of turmeric/black pepper extracts;tail-cuff was used to determine blood pressure once a week, along 12 weeks. In all three studies, a decrease in systolic, diastolic and mean blood pressure was observed, being higher in SHR and negligible in WKY rats. The mixture of turmeric/black pepper extracts showed antihypertensive actions in SHR rats with no effect on WKY rats. The mixture delayed the onset of hypertension in young SHR rats.

The objective of this study was to assess the chlorophyll content of corn lines at different vegetative stages and the diversity between them. The study was conducted in the experimental field of the Roque Institute of Technology (ITR) located in Roque, Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. We used 32 corn lines from CIMMYT and four lines from the breeding program of the ITR. The evaluation was conducted in the spring-summer cycle of 2014 at two planting dates. We used a completely randomized block design with three replications. The experimental unit consisted of two rows of five linear meters with a distance of 0.75 meters between rows. Chlorophyll was measured at six different stages: V6, VT, R3, R4, R5 and MF. The agronomic variables recorded were: PH, CH, LAC, LBC, FF, MF, PM, CC, CL, DC, RC, KR and GY. The results of the analysis of variance showed significant differences between lines, dates and their interaction. On average, 18 lines were found with chlorophyll concentrations above 51 SPAD units in the two environments. This indicated that these materials had a high potential for field performance. Using cluster analysis UPGma method, we identified seven groups for chlorophyll and eight groups for agronomic characteristics for a breeding program. The groups were associated to the homogeneous characteristics of each variable.

The paper is to study the structural changes in cortex and cerebellum of autopsies of subjects with schizophrenia. In the Pathology Department of the Psychiatric Hospital ＂Fray Bernardino ,Avarez＂, there are 410 autopsy cases with diagnosis of mental disease, from which 52 match schizophrenia. The aim of this work is to describe structural changes in the autopsy material and make markers in order to confirm neurodevelopment alterations. The tissues were preserved in formol, paraffin-embedded; cut into 5-7 μm slices; stained with H-E （Hematoxilin and Eosin）, Bielschowsky, crystal fast of violet. The observed changes were brain asymmetry, cortical dysplasia, neuronal distortion, axon bifurcation, neuronophagia and generalized demyelination. Schizophrenia is the result of several happenings, it is important to devise new treatment strategies for prevention and genetic counseling for population.

maize is the main crop for Mexicans;however, it is affected by species of fungi causing ear rot. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of T. asperellum T11, T. harzianum T1 4 y T. longibrachiatum T1 40 on some agronomic variables of four maize genotypes. The seeds of the genotypes H-515, Zapata 7, and H-507 were treated with a suspension of Trichoderma spp. to 1 × 108 spores mL-1, using a control (untreated seed), and Benomyl as chemical control. The planting was in Morelos, in a completely random block design with a factorial arrangement. The ear rot was natural. Data were obtained at the end of the crop cycle and processed in SAS 9.4®. H-515 genotype had the greatest effect on the treatment of maize seeds with Trichoderma spp. (5.562 kg);T. asperellum T11 was the strain that stood out with a mean yield of 50 ears in an area of 16 m2 of 4.904 kg, and control of 4.448 kg. Our results are an economic option for farmers to contemplate the use of Trichoderma and obtain its benefits.
