This paper describes a formation of hybrid coatings on a Ti-2Ta-3Zr-36Nb *** is accomplished by plasma electrolytic oxidation and a dip-coating technique with poly(adipic anhydride)((C6H8O3)n)that is loaded with drugs:amoxicillin(C16H19N3O5S),cefazolin(C14H14N8O4S3)or vancomycin(C66H75Cl2N9O24·xHCl).The characteristic microstructure of the polymer was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy and confocal *** on the surface treatment,the surface roughness varied(between 1.53μm and 2.06μm),and the wettability was change with the over of time.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed that the oxide layer did not affect the polymer layer or loaded ***,the drugs lose their stability in a phosphate-buffered saline solution after 6.5 h of exposure,and its decrease was greater than 7%(HPLC analysis).The stability,drug release and concentration of the drug loaded into the material were precisely analyzed by high-performance liquid *** results correlated with the degradation of the polymer in which the addition of drugs caused the percent of degraded polymer to be between 35.5%and 49.4%after 1 h of material immersion,depending on the mass of the loaded drug and various biological responses that were ***,all of the coatings were cytocompatible with MG-63 osteoblast-like *** drug concentrations released from the coatings were sufficient to inhibit adhesion of reference and clinical bacterial strains(***).The coatings with amoxicillin showed the best results in the bacterial inhibition zone,whereas coatings with cefazolin inhibited adhesion of the above bacteria on the surface.

Acute liver failure caused by concurrent autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis B in a 16-year old girl

A 16 year-old girl was admitted to hospital because of fatigue and somnolence,nausea,epistaxis and jaund *** examination revealed jaundice,an enlarged liver and tenderness of upper right abdom *** tests revealed an increased level of acute liver failure,bilirubin,bile acids,GGTP and a decreased prot hrombin ratio,with elevated gamma-globulin and IgG levels,and the presence of anti-mitochondrial M2 antibodies and HBV infection *** patient was diagnosed with liver failure resulting from chronic hepatitis B with an autoimmune *** treatment consisted of steroids,azathioprine,vitam in K,low-protein diet and lactulose *** undergoing a molecular test(HBV DNA 3.23 × 105 IU/mL and mutations 204 and 80),the treatment was mo tient was discharged in good clinical condition,with the recommendation of continued entecavir,prednisone and *** subsequent months,no clinical deter ioration or abnormal biochemical liver function test results were found,despite the discontinuation of immunos up pressive therapy after 10 *** patient cont inues entecavir therapy.

Is liver biopsy still needed in children with chronic viral hepatitis?

Liver biopsy is a standard method used for obtaining liver tissue for histopathological evaluation. Since reliable serological and virological tests are currently available, liver biopsy is no longer needed for the etiological diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B and C. However, liver histology remains the gold standard as a prognostic tool, providing information about the liver disease progression(grading of necroinflammatory activity and staging of fibrosis) and serving clinicians in the management and therapeutic decisions. In general, histopathological evaluation is indicated before starting the antiviral treatment. main limitations of the liver biopsy include its invasive and painful procedure, sampling errors and the inter- and intra-observer variability. In addition, indications for the liver biopsy in pediatric patients with chronic viral hepatitis were questioned recently, and efforts have been made toward the development of non-invasive methods as an alternative to the liver biopsy. The most commonly used methods are novel imaging studies(elastography) and combinations of biomarkers. However, to date, none of these tests was validated in children with chronic viral hepatitis. In this review, we present the current status of the liver biopsy in the management of chronic viral hepatitis B and C in pediatric population, including specific indications, complications, contraindications, problems, limitations, and alternative non-invasive methods.

Hydroacoustic estimates of fish biomass and spatial distributions in shallow lakes

We conducted acoustical surveys with a horizontal beam transducer to detect fish and with a vertical beam transducer to detect depth and macrophytes in two typical shallow lakes along the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang(Yangtze) River in November 2013. Both lakes are subject to active fish management with annual stocking and removal of large fish. The purpose of the study was to compare hydroacoustic horizontal beam estimates with fish landings. The preliminary results show that the fish distribution patterns dif fered in the two lakes and were af fected by water depth and macrophyte coverage. The hydroacoustically estimated fish biomass matched the commercial catch very well in Niushan Lake, but it was two times higher in Kuilei Lake. However, acoustic estimates included all fish, whereas the catch included only fish >45 cm(smaller ones were released). We were unable to determine the proper regression between acoustic target strength and fish length for the dominant fish species in the two lakes.

凉山州地处横断山系东北缘、川滇构造带南段，受活动构造、地形地貌、河流切割等作用，发育有地质灾害总数4016处，以中小型土质滑坡、中小型沟谷泥石流为主，是四川省地质灾害高风险地区。本文采用资料收集、数理统计、Arcgis软件分析等方法分析发现，按行政区分析，德昌县是地质灾害发育数量最多的县市，为387处；宁南县是灾害发育密度最高的县市，为17.7处/100 km2；按流域分析，安宁河流域的地质灾害数量最多，达779处；美姑河流域的灾害发育密度最大，达11.18处/100 km。以灾害发育密度为指标对不同灾害类型地质灾害的空间分布进行分析，滑坡划分为4个极高密度区和15个高密度区，滑坡发育受活动构造、易滑地层(红层、昔格达组等)控制作用大；崩塌划分为2个极高密度区和5个高密度区，崩塌沿河谷及支沟、活动构造呈带状分布，受水电站库区开发建设、公路建设等工程活动切坡影响大；泥石流划分为2个极高密度区和10个高密度区，泥石流发育受构造断裂、地形地貌和人类工程活动影响大。研究成果可为凉山州的防灾减灾工作提供数据支撑和科学参考。

Treatise by Olbrycht Strumieński (1573)--The First Polish Book on Hydraulic Engineering

The treatise by Olbrycht Strumieński is chronologically the first book in Poland, and the second in Europe, describinglevelling instruments. A few years after Strumieński’s death, the text was published by Stanisław Stroynowski. Until the 19th century,only three Polish-language treatises addressed the problems of levelling. Strumieński described the technique of building andmanaging fish ponds in Moravia, Bohemia and Poland. The presented surveying instruments and measuring methods are sufficientfor the design and construction of a pond that can survive for over 300 years. Strumieński also presented the principles of freshwateraquaculture. Poland, along with Bohemia, Moravia and Hungary, was an exporter of freshwater fish to Western Europe from the 16thto the mid-18th century.

Virulence factors of Enterococcus strains isolated from patients with inflammatory bowel disease

AIM: To determine the features of Enterococcus that contribute to the development and maintenance of the inflammatory process in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). METHODS: Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied to assess the presence of genes that encode virulence factors [surface aggregating protein (asa1), gelatinase (gelE), cytolysin (cylA), extracellular surface protein (esp) and hyaluronidase (hyl)] in the genomic DNA of 28 strains of Enterococcus isolated from the intestinal tissues of children with IBD (n =16) and of children without IBD (controls; n = 12). Additionally, strains with confirmed presence of the gelE gene were tested by PCR for the presence of quorum sensing genes (fsrA, fsrB, fsrC) that control the gelatinase production. Gelatinase activity was tested on agar plates containing 1.6% gelatin. We also analysed the ability of Enterococcus strains to release and decompose hydrogen peroxide (using Analytical Merckoquant peroxide test strips) and tested their ability to adhere to Caco-2 human gut epithelium cells and form biofilms in vitro. RESULTS: A comparison of the genomes of Enterococcus strains isolated from the inflamed mucosa of patients with IBD with those of the control group showed statistically significant differences in the frequency of theasa1 gene and thegelE gene. Furthermore, the cumulative occurrence of different virulence genes in the genome of a single strain ofEnterococcus isolated from the IBD patient group is greater than in a strain from the control group, although no significant difference was found. Statistically significant differences in the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and adherence to the Caco-2 epithelial cell line between the strains from the patient group and control group were demonstrated.
