THE ORDOVICIAN FORmATIONs ALONG THE sZECHUAN-KWEICHOW BORDER

In 1918 Yabe described some Orthoceras chinese collected by Yamada from Chiu-tienya near the szechuan-Kweichow border. But no date was given and the rocksfrom which the specimens came were not mentioned. In 1927 s. s. Yoh made areconnaissance sarvey from Chungking to Kweiyang. He found a shale consistingof Ordovician fossils at shihtzepu 5 km. north of Tsunyi, Kweichow, but in Chi-kiang and Tungtzu such rock had not been discovered. V. K. Ting, T. K. Huang and Y. L. Wang while undertaking a study of thegeology along the proposed szechuan-Kwangtung Railway, visited szechuan andKweichow in 1929. They made a geological map of the Tungtzu area and clssifiedthe Ordovician rocks into a lower Loushankuan limestone, a middle Yangtienwoshale and an upper Chiehpei limestone Their result was however, not published,being given only in a paper read by Y. L. Wang at the weekly meetings of theNational Geological survey of China. In the summer of 1939 the authors spent three months in studying the geologyof the szechuan-Kweichow border. On account of other duties the senior author wascalled back In september, while the junior author stayed there until the end ofOctober. In the autumn of 1940 the junior author again went to Tsunyi, Kweichow andinvestigated the shihtzepu shale. The region thus studied is situated along thesouthwestern Highway and extends from Kwanyinchiao in the southern part cfChikiang, szechuan to Tsuyi, Kweichow. The sections exposed are ideal and coverrocks ranging from Cambrian to Cretaceous in age. Only the Ordovician formationsare treated in this paper. According to the authors. observations the Ordovician rocks of the szechuan-Kweichow border can by separated into five groups. In ascending order they are theTungtzu formation, the Hunghuayuan limestone, the malukou shale, the Neichia-shan formation and the Wufeng shale. A brief description of each is given below.

The influence of tin on the hot ductility of a 0.15wt%C steel is investigated using a continuous-casting thermal simulator with three cooling rates. Tin can apparently deteriorate the hot ductility of the steel. Non-equilibrium grain boundary segregation of tin occurs during cooling and plays an important role in reducing the hot ductility of the steel. There is a critical cooling rate for the sn segregation being between 5 and 20K/s.

Effect of Parameters on Geoa/Geob/1 Queues: Theoretical Analysis and simulation Results

This paper analyzes a discrete-time Geoa/Geob/1 queuing system with batch arrivals of fixed size a, and batch services of fixed size b. Both arrivals and services occur randomly following a geometric distribution. The steady-state queue length distribution is obtained as the solution of a system of difference equations. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the system to be stationary. Besides, the uniqueness of the root of the characteristic polynomial in the interval (0, 1) is proven which is the only root needed for the computation of the theoretical solution with the proposed procedure. The theoretical results are compared with the ones observed in some simulations of the queuing system under different sets of parameters. The agreement of the results encourages the use of simulation for more complex systems. Finally, we explore the effect of parameters on the mean length of the queue as well as on the mean waiting time.

Background:The Canadian 24-hour movement behavior(24-HmB)guidelines suggest that a limited amount of screen time use,an adequate level of physical activity(PA),and sufficient sleep duration are beneficial for ensuring and optimizing the health and quality of life(QoL)of children and ***,this topic has yet to be examined for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder(AsD)*** aim of this cross-sectional observational study was to examine the associations between meeting 24-HmB guidelines and several QoLrelated indicators among a national sample of American children and adolescents with ***:Data were taken from the 2020 *** survey of Children’s Health ***(n=956)aged 617 years and currently diagnosed with AsD were *** exposure of interest was adherence to the 24-HmB *** were QoL indicators,including learning interest/curiosity,repeating grades,adaptive ability,victimization by bullying,and behavioral *** variables were described with unweighted sample counts and weighted ***,sex,race,preterm birth status,medication,behavioral treatment,household poverty level,and the educational level of the primary caregivers were included as *** ratio(OR)and 95%confidence interval(95%CI)were used to present the strength of association between adherence to 24-HmB guidelines and QoL-related ***:Overall,452 participants(45.34%)met 1 of the 3 recommendations,216(22.65%)met 2 recommendations,whereas only 39 participants(5.04%)met all 3 *** with meeting none of the recommendations,meeting both sleep duration and PA recommendations(OR=3.92,95%CI:1.639.48,pmmendations(OR=2.11,95%CI:1.034.35,p=0.04)was associated with higher odds of showing learning interest/*** both screen time and PA recommendations(OR=0.15,95%CI:0.040.61,psleep duration and PA recommendations(OR=0.24,95

Effects of wet-cupping on blood pressure in hypertensive patients:a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND： Although cupping remains a popular treatment modality worldwide, its efficacy for most diseases, including hypertension, has not been scientifically evaluated. OBJECTIVE： We aimed to determine the efficacy of wet-cupping for high blood pressure, and the incidence of the procedure＇s side effects in the intervention group. DEsIGN, sETTING, PARTICIPANTs AND INTERVENTIONs： This is a randomized controlled trial conducted in the General Practice Department at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, saudi Arabia, between may 2013 and February 2014. There were two groups （40 participants each）： intervention group undergoing wet-cupping （hijama） in addition to conventional hypertension treatment, and a control group undergoing only conventional hypertension treatment. Three wet-cupping sessions were performed every other day. mAIN OUTCOmE mEAsURE： The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressures were measured using a validated automatic sphygmomanometer. The follow-up period was 8 weeks. REsULTs： Wet-cupping provided an immediate reduction of systolic blood pressure. After 4 weeks of follow-up, the mean systolic blood pressure in the intervention group was 8.4 mmHg less than in the control group （P = 0.046）. After 8 weeks, there were no significant differences in blood pressures between the intervention and control groups. In this study, wet-cupping did not result in any serious side effects. CONCLUsION： Wet-cupping therapy is effective for reducing systolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients for up to 4 weeks, without serious side effects. Wet-cupping should be considered as a complementary hypertension treatment, and further studies are needed.

Hubble scale Dark Energy meets Nano scale Casimir Energy and the Rational of Their T-Duality and mirror symmetry Equivalence

We establish that ordinary energy, Casimir energy and dark energy are not only interlinked but are basically the same thing separated merely by scale and topology. Casimir energy is essentially a nano scale spacetime phenomenon produced by the boundary condition of the two Casimir plates constituting the Casimir experimental set up for measuring the Casimir force. By contrast dark energy is the result of the cosmic boundary condition, i.e. the boundary of the universe. This one sided m?bius-like boundary located at vast cosmic distance and was comparable only to the Hubble radius scales of the universe. All the Casimir energy spreads out until the majority of it reaches the vicinity of the edge of the cosmos. According to a famous theorem due to the Ukrainian-Israeli scientist I. Dvoretzky, almost 96% of the total energy will be concentrated at the boundary of the universe, too far away to be measured directly. The rest of the accumulated Casimir energy density is consequently the nearly 4% to 4.5%, the existence of which is confirmed by various sophisticated cosmic measurements and observations. When all is said and done, the work is essentially yet another confirmation of Witten’s T-duality and mirror symmetry bringing nano scale and Hubble scale together in an unexpected magical yet mathematically rigorous way.

Ex vivo ovine model for teaching open laryngotracheal surgery

Objective: To develop an animal model for teaching open laryngotracheal surgical procedures. methods: The heads and necks from 5 pre-pubescent sheep were harvested after humane anesthesia. After 2—5 days to allow for rigor mortis to resolve, a specimen was supported with sandbags on an operating table. Operative procedures including tracheotomy, medialization laryngoplasty, anterior cartilage grafting, tracheal resection with primary anastomosis, and laryngectomy with closure of the pharynx were attempted. Results: The ovine head and neck provided an accurate model for simulation of all attempted procedures. Ovine tissue resembled that of humans in mechanical properties and handling. Postsurgical endoscopy confirmed graft alignment. Conclusions: The sheep head and neck provides an inexpensive, realistic, and safe model for surgical training for a variety of open laryngotracheal procedures. This is particularly relevant given the recent emphasis on surgical simulation and the relative rarity of some of these pro-cedures in residency training.

Unsteady unidirectional micropolar fluid flow

This paper considers the unsteady unidirectional flow of a micropolar fluid, produced by the sudden application of an arbitrary time dependent pressure gradient, between two parallel plates. The no-slip and the no-spin boundary conditions are used. Exact solutions for the velocity and microrotation distributions are obtained based on the use of the complex inversion formula of Laplace transform. The solution of the problem is also considered if the upper boundary of the flow is a free surface. The particular cases of a constant and a harmonically oscillating pressure gradient are then examined and some numerical results are illustrated graphically.

Noise Behaviour of a THz superconducting Hot-Electron Bolometer mixer

A quasi-optical superconducting NbN hot-electron bolometer （HEB） mixer is measured in the frequency range of 0.5-2.5 THz for understanding of the frequency dependence of noise temperature of THz coherent detectors. It has been found that noise temperature increasing with frequency is mainly due to the coupling loss between the quasioptical planar antenna and the superconducting HEB bridge when taking account of non-uniform distribution of high-frequency current. With the coupling loss corrected, the superconducting HEB mixer demonstrates a noise temperature nearly independent of frequency.

A Unified Newtonian-Relativistic Quantum Resolution of the supposedly missing Dark Energy of the Cosmos and the Constancy of the speed of Light

Time dilation, space contraction and relativistic mass are combined in a novel fashion using Newtonian dynamics. In this way we can surprisingly retrieve an effective quantum gravity energy-mass equation which gives the accurate experimental value of vacuum density. Furthermore Einstein’s equation of special relativity E = mc2, where m is the mass and c is the velocity of light developed assuming smooth 4D space time is transferred to a rugged Calabi-Yau and K3 fuzzy Kahler manifolds and revised to become E=(mc2)/(22), where the division factor 22 maybe interpreted as the compactified bosonic dimensions of Veneziano-Nambu strings. The result is again an accurate effective quantum gravity energy-mass relation akin to the one found using Newtonian dynamics which correctly predicts that 95.4915028% of the energy in the cosmos is the hypothetical missing dark energy. The agreement with WmAP and supernova measurements is in that respect astounding. In addition different theories are used to check the calculations and all lead to the same quantitative result. Thus the theories of varying speed of light, scale relativity, E-infinity theory, m-theory, Heterotic super strings, quantum field in curved space time, Veneziano’s dual resonance model, Nash Euclidean embedding and super gravity all reinforce, without any reservation, the above mentioned theoretical result which in turn is in total agreement with the most sophisticated cosmological measurements which was deservingly awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics. Finally and more importantly from certain viewpoints, we reason that the speed of light is constant because it is a definite probabilistic expectation value of a variable velocity in a hierarchical fractal clopen, i.e. closed and open micro space time.
