the identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the AtLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 teV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the AtLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.t.od is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 teV and for multiple tagger working points.

Petrogenesis of the Late Cretaceous tholeiitic Volcanism and Oceanic Island Arc Affinity of the Chagai Arc, Western Pakistan

the Late Cretaceous Chagai arc outcrops in western Pakistan, southern Afghanistan and eastern Iran. It is in the tethyan convergence zone, formed by northward subduction of the Arabian oceanic plate beneath the Afghan block. the oldest unit of the Chagai arc is the Late Cretaceous Sinjrani Volcanic Group. this is composed of porphyritic lava flows and volcaniclastic rocks, and subordinate shale, sandstone, limestone and chert. the flows are fractionated low-K tholeiitic basalts, basaltic- andesites, and andesites. Relative enrichment in their LILE and depletion in HFSE, and negative Nb and ta and positive K, Ba and Sr anomalies point to a subduction-related origin. Compared to mORB, the least fractionated Chagai basalts have low Na2O, Fe2O3^t, CaO, ti, Zr, Y and ^87Sr/^86Sr. Rather than an Andean setting, these results suggest derivation from a highly depleted mantle in an intraoceanic arc formed by Late Cretaceous convergence in the Ceno-tethys. the segmented subduction zone formed between Gondwana and a collage of small continental blocks （Iran, Afghan, Karakoram, Lhasa and Burma） was accompanied by a chain of oceanic island arcs and suprasubduction ophiolites including Semail, Zagros, Chagai-Raskoh, Kandahar, muslim Bagh, Waziristan and Kohistan-Ladakh, Nidar, Nagaland and manipur. these complexes accreted to the southern margin of Eurasia in the Late Cretaceous.

Post-collisional volcanic rocks of mesozoic age occur in the regions adjacent to Gerze, part of the southern Qiangtang terrane of northern tibet, China. Geochronological, geochemical, and wholerock Sr-Nd isotopic analyses were performed on the volcanic rocks to better characterize their emplacement age and models for their origin. Laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrom.t.y(LA-ICP-mS) U-Pb zircon analyses yielded consistent ages ranging from 123.1±0.94 ma to 124.5±0.89 ma for six volcanic rocks from.t.e study area. the intermediate volcanic rocks belong to the alkaline and sub-alkaline magma series in terms of K2 O+Na2 O contents(5.9%–9.0%), and to the shoshonitic and calc-alkaline series on the basis of their high K2 O contents(1.4%–3.3%). the Gerze volcanic rocks are characterized by the enrichment of light rare earth elements [(La/Yb)N=34.9–49.5] and large–ion lithophile elements(e.g., Rb, Ba, th, U, K, Pb, and Sr), slightly negative Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu*=0.19–0.24), and negative anomalies in high field strength elements(e.g., Nb, ta, Hf and ti), relative to prim.t.ve mantle. the samples show slightly elevated(87 Sr/86 Sr)i values that range from 0.7049 to 0.7057, and low εNd(t) values from-0.89 to-2.89. these results suggest that the volcanic rocks studied derived from a compositionally heterogeneous mantle source and that their parent magmas were basaltic. the more mafic, parental magmas to the Gerze volcanic rocks likely underwent fractional crystallization of clinopyroxene, hornblende, biotite, and potassium feldspar, during ascent, with little to no crustal contamination, prior to their eruption/emplacement. While these volcanic rocks exhibit geochemical signatures typical of magmas formed in a destructive plate-margin setting, it is plausible that their mantle source might also have acquired such characteristics in an earlier episode of subduction.

the late Archean(~3.0-2.5 Ga)was a key period of continental growth globally,which is widely considered to reflect the onset of vigorous plate tectonic activity,although related continental growth modes remain *** we investigate a suite of late Neoarchean m.t.volcanic rocks from.t.e southwest Qixia area of the Jiaobei terrane in the North China *** rocks in this suite include amphibolites,clinopyroxene amphibolites,and hornblende plagioclase *** present zircon U-Pb isotopic data which indicate that the protoliths of these rocks formed during~2549-2511 ***(clinopyroxene)amphibolites correspond to m.t.-basaltic rocks,with some containing high modal content of *** rocks show moderate to high FeO_(t)(8.96-13.62 wt.%)and tiO_(2)(0.59-1.59 wt.%),flat to less fractionated REE patterns,and mildly negative th,Nb,and ta anomalies,resembling those of *** addition,they display positive zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(+2.6 to+8.7),and are devoid of crustal contamination or fractional *** with the low Nb/Yb(mostlym)_N(mostlyto moderate th/Yb(0.08-0.54),and low V/Sc(5.53-9.19)ratios,these basaltic rocks are interpreted to have been derived from a relatively reduced and depleted mantle source that was mildly m.t.som.t.zed by hydrous *** hornblende plagioclase gneisses are m.t.-andesitic rocks,and occur interlayered with the basaltic *** are transitional between tholeiitic and calc-alkaline rock series,and show fractionated REE patterns with evidently negative th,Nb,and ta *** depleted zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(+2.4 to+8.4)and quantitative chemical modeling suggest that the andesitic rocks were most likely generated by injection and mixing of juvenile felsic magmas with the tholeiitic basaltic *** general,the chemical features and genesis of late Neoarchean m.t.-basaltic rocks in our study area resemble those of mariana back-arc basin *** with regional ge
