Ocular Surgical Pathologies in Children Aged 0 to 15 Years in the Bartimée Ophthalmological Clinic in Conakry, Guinea

Context: Childhood eye health is a real public health problem in our context, the consequences of which go beyond vision, affecting education, social participation and future economic productivity. The aim was to study the frequency of ocular surgical pathologies in children aged 0 to 15 years. Patients and methodius: This study covered a 4 years period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020. It was a retrospective study of a descriptive and analytical nature. It concerned all children aged 0 to 15 who had undergone surgery for ocular pathology during the study period and who were included in the operating room register. Results: Out of 4974 patients of all ages operated for ocular surgical pathology, 124 were children aged 0 to 15 years or 2.49%. The 9 - 12 age group was the most represented with 29.03%;the mean age was 7.3 years ± 4.6 with extremes of 3 months and 15 years. A male predominance was observed at 62.90%. Pathologies of the lens, cataract and eyelids, traumatic edema represented the most frequent eye conditions in our patients with respectively 51 cases or 41.13% in the right eye (OD), 54 cases or 53.55% in the left eye (OG) and 14 cases or 11.29% in OD and OG followed by endemic limboconjunctivitis of the tropics (LCET), 10 cases or 3.23%, in OD and hemorrhage under conjunctival 13 cases or 10.48% in OG. Cataract surgery with the Technique manuel Small Incision Cataract Surgery + Implantation in the posterior chamber (mSICS + ICP) was the most used in 74% of cases. General anesthesia was the most widely used anesthetic method in 100% of cases. The clinical course was favorable at 45.97%. Conclusion: We note a relatively low hospital frequency of ocular surgical pathologies in children, with a male predominance. The early consultation period and the improvement of the technical platform could improve their management.

Introduction: Eye health in children is a real public health problem in developing countries. The aim of this work was to determine the frequency of ocular pathologies in children aged 0 to 16 at the prefectural hospital of macenta in Guinea. Patients and method: This was a descriptive prospective study. It covered a period of 6 months from October 1 to march 31, 2022 at the prefectural hospital of macenta in Guinea. Children aged 0 to 16 received during the study period were included. Were excluded, those with an incomplete file and whose parents did not consent. Results: Out of 1816 consultations, 224 children aged 0 to 16 were collected 7.95%;mean age 7.35 years ± 4.6;sex ratio 1.38. The age group of 6 to 11 years was more represented. more than half of the patients were educated 50.4% and came from rural areas 52.7%. Pathologies of the orbit were dominated by orbital cellulitis 13% and those of the annexes by conjunctivitis 40.6%. Keratitis and cataracts were pathologies dominating the cornea and the lens, respectively 5.4% and 8.5%. Atrophy of the eyeball was the most frequent among those of the eyeball, at 3.6%. The most performed surgical procedure was phacophagy in 6.7%. The most common reason for consultation was eye pain, at 33.5%. Both eyes were affected at the same time in the majority 49.5%, and the most represented antecedent was malaria 22.3% of cases. Visual acuity without correction ≥ 3/10 was the most represented 37.5% in the right eye and 34.8% in the left eye. The therapeutic classes used were dominated by antibiotic-corticoid combinations 88.8%. Conclusion: Ocular pathologies in children from 0 to 16 years old constitute a real public health problem. They are dominated by pathologies of the conjunctiva and the lens. Popularization for early management of ophthalmological pathologies would be beneficial. .

In the theoretical study of numerical solution of stiff ODEs, it usually assumes that the righthand function f(y) satisfy one-side Lipschitz condition less than or equal to v(1)parallel to y - z parallel to(2),f : Omega subset of or equal to C-m --> C-m, or another related one-side Lipschitz condition [F(Y) - F(Z), Y - Z](D) less than or equal to v'parallel to Y - Z parallel to(D)(2), F : Omega(s) subset of or equal to C-ms --> C-ms, this paper demonstrates that the difference of the two sets of all functions satisfying the above two conditions respectively is at most that v' - v' only is constant independent of stiffness of function f.

The stability constants of the 1:1 complexes of H4L (5.12-diphenyl-7.14-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazamacrocyclotetradecane-N',N',N'',N''-tetraacetic acid) with m(2-) ions (m=***,Co,Zn,mn,***,***,Ba) were determined in 0.5 mol L KCl aqueous solution at 45℃,50℃ and 60℃ by potentiometric titration and computer fitting. The △H and △S of the coordination reaction in the solution were given.

The present paper covers the reactions of m￣+ +CH_4→m￣+CH_2+H_2(m=Sc,Y,La)investigated theoretically using ab initio mO methods and reaction channels onthe singlet potential energy surfaces (PEss) examined and discusses the reactionmechanism. The results indicate that the formation of m￣+CH_2 is primarily via a sin-glet H m￣+ CH_3 intermediate,followed by a four-center elimination of H_2,all ofthese reactions have negative activation energies and the trend of reactivity is La￣+>Sc￣+>Y￣+.

目的　用新型生物可降解材料羟基丁酸酯羟基戊酸酯共聚物 (PHBV)为载体 ,以氢化泼尼松(prednisolone ,PNS)为模型药制备PNS PHBV纳米粒 (NP)。方法　用超声乳化法制备PNS PNBV纳米粒 ,激光粒度分析仪测试NP的粒径及其分布以及粒子表面的Zeta电位。结果　NP的粒径为 5 0～ 2 5 0nm。随着药载比增加 ,NP的载药量也增大 ,但包封率与Zeta电位却明显下降 ;体外释药曲线表现出明显两相释药特征 ,伴随着不同程度突释效应 ,粒径越小突释效应越大 ,体外释药最长达 3 2h。结论　PNS PNBV纳米粒制备工艺稳定。

High-throughput screening of mouse gene knockouts identifies established and novel skeletal phenotypes

Screening gene function in vivo is a powerful approach to discover novel drug targets. We present high-throughput screening （HTS） data for 3 762 distinct global gene knockout （KO） mouse lines with viable adult homozygous mice generated using either gene-trap or homologous recombination technologies. Bone m.ss was determined from DEXA scans of male and female mice at 14 weeks of age and by microCT analyses of bones from male mice at 16 weeks of age. Wild-type （WT） cagemates/littermates were examined for each gene KO. Lethality was observed in an additional 850 KO lines. Since primary HTS are susceptible to false positive findings, additional cohorts of mice from KO lines with intriguing HTS bone data were examined. Aging, ovariectomy, histomorphometry and bone strength studies were performed and possible non-skeletal phenotypes were explored. Together, these screens identified multiple genes affecting bone m.ss： 23 previously reported genes （Calcr, Cebpb, Crtap, Dcstamp, Dkkl, Duoxa2, Enppl, Fgf23, Kissl/Kisslr, Kl （Klotho）, Lrp5, mstn, Neol, Npr2, Ostml, Postn, Sfrp4, S1c30a5, Sic39a13, Sost, Sumf1, Src, Wnt10b）, five novel genes extensively characterized （Cldn18, Fam20c, Lrrkl, Sgpll, Wnt16）, five novel genes with preliminary characterization （Agpat2, RassfS, Slc10a7, Stc26a7, Slc30a10） and three novel undisclosed genes coding for potential osteoporosis drug targets.

Improving the nutritional values of yellow mealworm Tenebrio molitor(Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) larvae as an animal feed ingredient: a review

Yellow mealworm larvae(YmL;Tenebrio molitor) are considered as a valuable insect species for animal feed due to their high nutritional values and ability to grow under different substrates and rearing conditions. Advances in the understanding of entomophagy and animal nutrition over the past decades have propelled research areas toward testing multiple aspects of YmL to exploit them better as animal feed sources. This review aims to summarize various approaches that could be exploited to maximize the nutritional values of YmL as an animal feed ingredient. In addition, YmL has the potential to be used as an antimicrobial or bioactive agent to improve animal health and immune function in production animals. The dynamics of the nutritional profile of YmL can be influenced by multiple factors and should be taken into account when attempting to optimize the nutrient contents of YmL as an animal feed ingredient. Specifically, the use of novel land-based and aquatic feeding resources, probiotics, and the exploitation of larval gut microbiomes as novel strategies can assist to maximize the nutritional potential of YmL. Selection of relevant feed supplies, optimization of ambient conditions, the introduction of novel genetic selection procedures, and implementation of effective post-harvest processing may be required in the future to commercialize mealworm production. Furthermore, the use of appropriate agricultural practices and technological improvements within the mealworm production sector should be aimed at achieving both economic and environmental sustainability. The issues highlighted in this review could pave the way for future approaches to improve the nutritional value of YmL.

BACKGROUND Hemodynamic instability and shock are associated with untoward outcomes in gastrointestinal ***,there are no studies in the existing literature on the proportion of patients who developed these outcomes after gastrointestinal *** To determine the pooled event rates in the available literature and specify them based on the bleeding *** The protocol was registered on PROSPERO in advance(CRD42021283258).A systematic search was performed in three databases(Pubmed,EmBASE,and CENTRAL)on 14^(th) October *** proportions with 95%CI were calculated with a random-effects model.A subgroup analysis was carried out based on the time of assessment(on adm.ssion or during hospital stay).Heterogeneity was assessed by Higgins and Thompson’s I^(2) *** Joanna Briggs Institute Prevalence Critical Appraisal Tool was used for the risk of bias *** Reference Citation Analysis(https://***/)tool was applied to obtain the latest highlight *** We identified 11589 records,of which 220 studies were eligible for data *** overall proportion of shock and hemodynamic instability in general gastrointestinal bleeding patients was 0.25(95%CI:0.17-0.36,I^(2)=100%).In non-variceal bleeding,the proportion was 0.22(95%CI:0.14-0.31,I^(2)=100%),whereas it was 0.25(95%CI:0.19-0.32,I^(2)=100%)in variceal *** proportion of patients with colonic diverticular bleeding who developed shock or hemodynamic instability was 0.12(95%CI:0.06-0.22,I^(2)=90%).The risk of bias was low,and heterogeneity was high in all *** One in five,one in four,and one in eight patients develops shock or hemodynamic instability on adm.ssion or during hospitalization in the case of non-variceal,variceal,and colonic diverticular bleeding,respectively.
