The transportation of biological and industrial nanofluids by natural propulsion like cilia movement and self-generated contraction-relaxation of flexible walls has significant applications in numerous emerging technologies. Inspired by multi-disciplinary progress and innovation in this direction, a thermo-fluid mechanical model is proposed to study the entropy generation and convective heat transfer of nanofluids fabricated by the dispersion of single-wall carbon nanotubes（SWCNT） nanoparticles in water as the base fluid. The regime studied comprises heat transfer and steady, viscous, incompressible flow, induced by metachronal wave propulsion due to beating cilia, through a cylindrical tube containing a sparse（i.e., high permeability） homogenous porous medium. The flow is of the creeping type and is restricted under the low Reynolds number and long wavelength approximations. Slip effects at the wall are incorporated and the generalized Darcy drag-force model is utilized to mimic porous media effects. Cilia boundary conditions for velocity components are employed to determine analytical solutions to the resulting non-dimensionalized boundary value problem. The influence of pertinent physical parameters on temperature, axial velocity, pressure rise and pressure gradient, entropy generation function, Bejan number and stream-line distributions are computed numerically. A comparative study between SWCNT-nanofluids and pure water is also computed. The computations demonstrate that axial flow is accelerated with increasing slip parameter and Darcy number and is greater for SWCNT-nanofluids than for pure water. Furthermore the size of the bolus for SWCNT-nanofluids is larger than that of the pure water. The study is applicable in designing and fabricating nanoscale and microfluidics devices, artificial cilia and biomimetic micro-pumps.

Silicone rubber(SiR)composite material is a modern-day insulator for high voltage outdoor *** imperfection attributed to SiR is its weak resistance to tracking and erosion when exposed to an outdoor polluted environment which reduces its operational *** paper investigates the performance of SiR with the addition of 0,1,2.5,5,10 and 20%by weight contents of nano alumina(Al_(2)O_(3)).Inclined plane tests are performed according to IEC 60587 using the step up tracking voltage method with an initial voltage of 3.0 kV and the contaminant solution flow rate is maintained at 0.3 ml/min using a peristaltic *** applied voltage level is increased at a rate of 0.25 kV/*** suggest that physical tracking,erosion,RmS leakage current and surface partial discharge(PD)performance of samples is improved with the addition of nano *** tracking length,eroded mass,RmS leakage current and average PD magnitude are measured 22%,79%,30%and 52%lesser in 20 wt%relative to 0 wt%,respectively.A thermal distribution analysis is undertaken with infrared camera and it is discovered that heat is accumulated in the discharge area of the liquid *** maximum temperature on the insulating specimen is decreased with increasing nanofiller *** above promising findings can be due to better thermal stability with low chain mobility at the interaction zone of SiR and ***,less liquid evaporation due to better thermal conduction and improved physical bonding between SiR and nano alumina are possible reasons behind the excellent performance of nanocomposites.

Comparative study of Sm^(3+) ions doped phosphate based oxide and oxy-fluoride glasses for solid state lighting applications

The physical and luminescent properties of Sm^(3+)-doped oxide and oxy-fluoride phosphate glasses were investigated. The glass samples with chemical composition of 69 P_2 O_5-10 BaO-10 ZnO-10 Gd_2 O_3-1 Sm_2 O_3 and 69 P_2 O_5-10 BaO-10 ZnO-10 GdF_3-1 Sm_2 O_3 were prepared by conventional melt quenching technique. The prepared glass samples were characterized with density, molar volume, refractive index,FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR, photo luminesce nce, radio luminescence, decay time profile and CIE diagram. The density and refractive index of the oxide glass have higher values as compared to the oxy-fluoride *** FTIR spectra show the reduction of O-H group in oxy-fluoride glass. The characteristic peaks of Sm^(3+)are observed at 360,372,402,438,419,473,944,1077,1227,1373,1474,1529 and 1585 nm in UV-VIS-NIR spectra. These peaks are related respectively to the transitions from ground state ~6 H_(5/2) to ~4 D_(3/2), ~6 P_(7/2),6 P3/2, ~4 I_(11/2), ~6 F_(11/2), ~6 F_(9/2), ~6 F_(7/2),~6 F_(5/2),~6 F_(3/2), ~6 H_(15/2) and ~6 F_(1/2) excited states. From photoluminescence and radio-luminesce nce it is observed that the oxy-fluoride glass samples show better emission intensity than the oxide glass. The Judd-Ofelt theory(J-0 theory) was used to find J-O intensity Ω_λ(λ = 2,4 and 6)parameters and radiative properties such as transition probability, stimulated emission cross section and branching ratios for titled glasses. The trend observed in the J-O parameters is Ω_4 >Ω_2 >Ω_6. The transition probability,emission cross section and branching ratio have the highest values for the ~4 G_(5/2)→~6 H_(7/2)transition. The CIE coordinates of the prepared glass samples are positioned in the orange region and the CCT value is 3776.105 for oxide and oxyfluoride glass. The oxy-fluoride glass has shorter decay time as compared to the oxide glass and it is recorded to be 1.62 and 1.32 ms for oxide and oxy-fluoride respectively. The nanocrystalline samples Nd_(1-x)m_(x)FeO_(3)(x=0.0 and 0.1;m:Co^(2+)and Ni^(2+))were prepared using the citrate combustion *** X-ray diffraction(XRD)pattern confirmed that the nanoparticles were synthesized in an orthorhombic *** particle size of Nd_(1-x)m_(x)FeO_(3) is in the range of 29-59 *** selected area electron diffraction(SAED)indicates the samples were prepared in a polycrystalline *** samples Nd_(1-x)m_(x)FeO_(3)(x=0.0 and 0.1;m:Co^(2+)and Ni^(2+))have anti ferromagnetic *** Fe^(3+)spins are aligned antiparallel,forming the antiferromagnetic(AFm)properties,which are affected by many factors such as the bond angle between the Fe^(3+)(Fe^(3+)-O_(2)--Fe^(3+))and the Dzyaloshinskii-moriya(D-m)*** doping of Co^(2+)and Ni^(2+)ions in NdFeO_(3) enhances the magnetic properties of the NdFeO_(3).The saturation magnetization(ms)of Nd_(0.90)Co_(0.10)FeO_(3) increases 1.8times more than that of NdFeO_(3).The exchange bias field(HEX)of the Co-doped sample is two times greater than that of NdFeO_(3).The magnetic anisotropy constant(K)of the 10%Co-doped sample increases by 11 factors compared to that of NdFeO_(3).The Tauc plot illustrates that the samples have a direct optical *** divalent cation substitution(Co^(2+)and Ni^(2+))decreases the optical band gap of NdFeO_(3),leading to the recommendation of using the samples Nd_(0.90)Co_(0.10)FeO_(3) and Nd_(0.90)Ni_(0.10)FeO_(3) in photocatalysis of dye degradation from *** removal efficiencies of Cr6+at pH=6 are 88.06%,85.54%,and 85.52%for the samples NdFeO_(3),Nd_(0.90)Co_(0.10)FeO_(3),and Nd_(0.90)Ni_(0.10)FeO_(3),*** Freundlich isotherm mode is the best-fit model for NdFeO_(3) to adsorb Cr6+ions from aqueous solutions.

The development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-SOFCs)is of significant importance for realizing the widespread application of *** has stimulated a substantial materials research effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte layer of *** this context,for the first time,a dielectric material,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-SOFCs electrolyte application in this *** individual CCTO and its heterostructure materials with a p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCAL)semiconductor are evaluated as alternative electrolytes in LT-SOFC at 450–550℃.The single cell with the individual CCTO electrolyte exhibits a power output of approximately 263 mW cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage(OCV)of 0.95 V at 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCAL heterostructure electrolyte capably delivers an improved power output of approximately 605 mW cm^(-2) along with a higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indicates the introduction of high hole-conducting NCAL into the CCTO could enhance the cell performance rather than inducing any potential short-circuiting *** is found that these promising outcomes are due to the interplay of the dielectric material,its structure,and overall properties that led to improve electrochemical mechanism in CCTO–***,density functional theory calculations provide the detailed information about the electronic and structural properties of the CCTO and NCAL and their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a new approach for developing new advanced electrolytes for LT-SOFCs.

This study examines the nonlinear behaviors of a clamped-clamped porous pipe made of a functionally graded material(FGm) that conveys fluids and is equipped with a retaining clip, focusing on primary resonance and subcritical dynamics. The nonlinear governing equations for the FGm pipe are derived by the extended Hamilton's principle, and subsequently discretized through the application of the Galerkin *** direct method of multi-scales is then used to solve the derived equations. A thorough analysis of various parameters, including the clip stiffness, the power-law index, the porosity, and the clip location, is conducted to gain a comprehensive understanding of the system's nonlinear dynamics. Through the analysis of the first natural frequency, the study highlights the influence of the flow velocity and the clip stiffness, while the comparisons with metallic pipes emphasize the role of FGm composition. The examination of the forced response curves reveals saddle-node bifurcations and their dependence on parameters such as the detuning parameter and the power-law index, offering valuable insights into the system's nonlinear resonant behavior. Furthermore, the frequency-response curves illustrate the hardening nonlinearities influenced by factors such as the porosity and the clip stiffness, revealing nuanced effects on the system response and resonance characteristics. This comprehensive analysis enhances the understanding of nonlinear behaviors in FGm porous pipes with a retaining clip, providing key insights for practical engineering applications in system design and optimization.
