We report the results of five herpetological surveys during 2011-2013 that included visits to all districts of Timor-Leste （Aileu, Ainaro, Baucau, Bobonaro, Dili, Covalima, Ermera, Laut6m, Liquiga, manatuto, manufahi, Viqueque） except the Oecusse exclave. Our fieldwork culminated in the discovery of one putative new frog species （genus Kaloula）, at least five putative new lizard species （genera Cyrtodactylus, Cryptoblepharus, and Sphenomorphus）, and two putative new snake species （genera Stegonotus and Indotyphlops）. In addition, we present new distribution records of amphibians and reptiles for 11 of the country＇s 12 contiguous districts, along with additional natural history data. Results from our surveys increase the number of amphibian and reptiles known to occur in Timor-Leste from 22 species before our surveys began to over 60, including over 20 as yet undescribed species.

The inverted triplesalen ligand H6feldmehas been synthesized from 2,4,6-triformyl-phloroglucinol and a ketimine salen half-unit in a convergent synthesis. NmR, IR, and UV-vis spectroscopy reveal that this ligand is not in the O-protonated tautomer but in the N-protonated tautomer with substantial heteroradialene contribution. This ligand and the conventional triplesalen ligand H6talent-Bu2 have been used to synthesize the trinuclear FeⅢcomplexes [(feldme)(FeCl)3] and [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3], respectively. The molecular structures of these complexes were obtained by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Two trinuclear FeⅢcomplexes of [(feldme)(FeCl)3] dimerize via two Fe-phenolate bonds, whereas due to steric hindrance no dimerization is observed for [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3]. The structural data also reveal some heteroradialene contribution in the trinuclear complexes. Whereas UV-vis and m??bauer spectroscopy are not suitable to distinguish between the two complexes, FT-IR spectra show characteristic features due to the different substitution patterns of the conventional and the inverted triplesalen ligands. Another handle is provided by electrochemistry. Whereas both complexes exhibit an irreversible oxidation wave (0.94 V vs. Fc+/Fc for [(feldme)(FeCl)3] and 0.84 V vs. Fc+/Fc for [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3]), which is assigned to the oxidation of the central backbone, higher potential oxidations are reversible for [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3]) but irreversible for [(feldme)(FeCl)3]. This is attributed to the reversible oxidation of the terminal phenolates in the di-tert-butyl substituted [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3] in contrast to the mono-methyl-substituted phenolates in [(feldme)(FeCl)3]. The magnetic properties of [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3] reveal a very small ferromagnetic coupling with significant zero-field splitting of the FeⅢS = 5/2 ions. Herpetological surveys of locations in six districts of Timor-Leste(Dili, Baucau, Ermera, Liqui a, manatuto, Viqueque) during 2010 led to the discovery of a new, high-altitude species of Cryptoblepharus from Ermera District, a new country record(Hemidactylus cf. tenkatei), and the recording of two previously unvouchered species(Python r. reticulatus and Liasis m. mackloti). In this article, we summarize these new records and present numerous new district records for Timor-Leste and four records for road-killed snakes seen in West Timor(Indonesia). With the addition of the results from our 2009 survey, the update presented herein increases the confirmed number of amphibian and reptile species for Timor-Leste to 47.

SwissFEL is a compact,high-brilliance,soft and hard X-ray free electron laser(FEL)facility that started user operation in *** facility is composed of two parallel beam lines seeded by a common linear accelerator(LINAC),and a two-bunch *** the injector,an innovative dual-photocathode laser scheme has been developed based on state-of-the-art ytterbium femtosecond laser *** this paper,we describe the performance of the Swiss FEL photocathode drive lasers(PCDLs),the pulse-shaping capabilities as well as the versatility of the systems,which allow many different modes of operation of Swiss *** full control over the Swiss FEL electron bunch properties via the unique architecture of the PCDLs will enable in the future the advent of more-advanced FEL modes;these modes include,but are not restricted to,the generation of single or trains of sub-femtosecond FEL pulses,multi-color FEL and finally,the generation of fully coherent X-ray pulses via laser-based seeding.

The Uranium Prospects in mika Region, Northeastern Nigeria

Uranium exploration especially in currently non-producing countries like Nigeria possesses high economic prospect. This study investigates a new uranium prospect in mika, Northeastern Nigeria. The mika uranium mineralization is located in mika, Taraba State. Two lodes were identified and additional nine (9) trenches were added. The main lode in the west extends about 10 m, ore vein strikes 348°, inclination 42°and the strike of the lode 306°with average uranium content of 18%. The eastern trench is about 8 × 4 × 6 m which exposes a veinlet of pitchblende. From the petrography, one can deduce that the granitic host rock has suffered deformation resulting in crushing of quartz crystals and stretching of plagioclase. The uraninite and chalcedony in the late phase filled up the fractures along the crystal grain boundaries as veinlets. The laboratory gamma ray analysis of the samples showed that the secondary uranium content is 0.1%, while the primary uranium ore grade is 1.5%. Radiometric in situ measurements showed that Th and K ranges from 47.3 - 3654 ppm and 4.26% - 6.26% respectively. From the survey, a strong radiometric zone extends 800 × 35 m in an NW-SE direction and has highest radiation content of 1200 cpm against the background count rate of 30 cpm. Generally, the uranium concentrations in the ores in mika area range from 0.03% - 0.12%. Since only the surface occurrences have been explored, the study area is a good prospect for future development when properly explored. The North-eastern Nigeria has been roughly explored by Nigeria Uranium mining Company (NUmCO) in 1980, but no formal exploration had been followed after that, especially near the site of this article. Neurological signs like ataxia and hind limb paresis have often been reported in cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus), lions (Panthera leo) and snow leopards (Panthera unica). As a cause, copper and Vitamin A deficiencies have been discussed. many cases were seen in cheetahs and lions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) within the last years. The aim of this study was to find correlations between nutrition, serum, and tissue levels, focusing on copper and Vitamin A. Blood and tissue samples of affected and unaffected animals were analyzed at the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory in Dubai, UAE. Animals were split into three different groups (A, B and C) according to their diets. minerals were determined in serum, tissue, food and water samples, and serum was additionally analyzed for Vitamin A and E. Liver, kidney and spinal cord samples were taken for histopathological investigations. mean serum copper and liver copper levels of animals fed pure chicken muscle meat without supplements were significantly lower (0.41 ± 0.71 μm/L;2.16 ± 0.95 ppm wet weight) than in animals fed a whole carcass prey diet (12.16 ± 3.42 μm/L;16.01 ± 17.51 ppm wet weight) (p m Vitamin A and E levels were highest in animals fed whole carcass prey diets (1.85 ± 0.68;27.31 ± 5.69 μm/L). Liver zinc concentrations were highest in animals fed pure chicken meat only (43.75 ± 16.48 ppm wet weight). In histopathology, demyelination of the spinal cord was found in all of the affected animals and most commonly when fed a diet based on poultry without supplements.

Introduction: Seven district-level Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) in Bihar, India provide clinical and nutritional care for children with severe acute malnutrition (SAm). Aim: To assess whether intensified case finding (ICF) strategies at NRCs can lead to pediatric case detection among SAm children and link them to TB treatment under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP). materials and methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted that included medical record reviews of SAm children registered for TB screening and RNTCP care during July-December 2012. Results: Among 440 SAm children screened, 39 (8.8%) were diagnosed with TB. Among these, 34 (87%) initiated TB treatment and 18 (53%) were registered with the RNTCP. Of 16 children not registered under the RNTCP, nine (56%) weighed below six kilo-grams—the current weight requirement for receiving drugs under RNTCP. Conclusion: ICF approaches are feasible at NRCs;however, screening for TB entails diagnostic challenges, especially among SAm children. However, only half of the children diagnosed with TB were treated by the RNTCP. more effort is needed to link this vulnerable population to TB services in addition to introducing child-friendly drug formulations for covering children weighing less than six kilo-grams.

Objectives:To determine the association of Human leukocyte antigen B(HLA‑B)alleles with ankylosing spondylitis and the allelic association of HLAB27 with endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1(ERAP1)single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)rs30187 in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS).methods:We studied 48 consecutively enrolled well-defined AS patients and 48 healthy controls recruited from the outpatient clinic of the rheumatology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh mujib medical University(BSmmU),Dhaka,*** genotype HLA-B alleles from peripheral blood DNA,we designed sequence-specific primers for polymerase chain ***'s sequencing method was used to detect the ERAP1 rs30187 *** HLA-B allele distributions were compared between cases and *** infer an allelic association between HLA-B27 and ERAP1,allele distributions from both loci were compared using ***-squared test or Fisher's exact test was used to quantify the association,and their strength of association was tested by odds ratio(OR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The frequency of HLA-B27 was found to be higher in AS patients(60.4%)than in healthy controls(8.3%).HLA-B27 allele had an OR of 16.8(95%CI=5.2–54.4)for the development of ***,4%of AS patients had both HLA-B27 and *** significant association was found between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and HLA-B27 in patients with AS(OR=1.7,95%CI=0.5–5.6).Conclusions:HLA-B27 was significantly associated with AS in patients in ***,no association between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and HLA-B27 was observed.
