A half-metallic full-Heusler mn_(2)VAl alloy is a potential p-type thermoelectric material that can directly generate electricity from waste heat via the Seebeck *** practical use,the Seebeck coefficient S of mn_(2)VAl should be increased while maintaining a high electrical conductivity s from its half-metallic ***,we achieved this objective through antisite defect ***,it was predicted that the S was maximized by regulating partial density of states of majority-spin sp-electrons through the control of the fraction of antisite defect,f_(AD),between V and Al atoms in mn_(2)***-mentally,a significant increase in S and a slight decrease in s were observed for an mn_(2)VAl sample with an optimal fAD=33%,enhancing the thermoelectric power factor PF by 2.7 times from an mn_(2)VAl sample with fAD=14%.Furthermore,we combined the antisite defect engineering with a partial substitution *** mn_(2)V(Al_(0.96)Si_(0.04))sample with fAD=33%exhibited the highest PF=4.5×10^(-4)W·m^(-1)·K^(-2)at 767 K among the *** maximum dimensionless figure-of-merit zT of the mn_(2)V(Al_(0.96)Si_(0.04))sample with f_(AD)=33%was measured to be 3.4×10^(-2)at 767 K,which is the highest among the p-type half-metallic full-Heusler alloys.

In the dissolution step of spent nuclear fuel, there is a world-concern problem that zirconium molybdate hydrate precipitates as a byproduct, and accumulates in some reprocessing equipments. In order to prevent this accumulation, we have developed a new method based on the controlled reaction crystallization of zirconium molybdate hydrate （ZmH） in the reprocessing solution, followed by solid liquid separation. In order to measure the particle size of ZmH, batch crystallization experiments were conducted by varying nitric acid concentration and operating temperature. In result, almost all particle sizes scatter around 1μm on average, despite the higher concentration of nitric aid and operating temperature, and then small particles grow up as an aggregate sticking to the crystallizer. moreover, polymorph and color changing were observed by varying the concentration of nitric acid and reaction time. These results suggest that crystal color and adhesiveness are closely related to the particle size of ZmH. And the control of nitric acid concentration and small particle growth would be the useful technique to prevent the ZmH sticking.

AIm： To investigate genetic diversity of Helicobacter pylori （H. pylorl） cell division-related gene A （cdrA） and its effect on the host ***： Inactivation of H. py/ori cdrA, which is involved in ceil division and morphological elonga- tion, has a role in chronic persistent infections. Ge- netic property of H. pylori cdrA was evaluated using polymerase chain reaction and sequencing in 128 （77 American and 51 Japanese） clinical isolates obtained from 48 and 51 patients, respectively. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was performed to measure in- terleukin-8 （IL-8） secretion with gastric biopsy speci- mens obtained from American patients colonized with cdrA-positive or -negative strains and AGS cells co- cultured with wild-type HPK5 （cdrA-positive） or its de- rivative HPKT510 （cdrA-disruptant）. Furthermore, the cytotoxin-associated gene A （cagA） status （transloca- tion and phosphorylation） and kinetics of transcription factors [nuclear factor-kappa B （NF-~：B） and inhibition kappa B] were investigated in AGS cells co-cultured with HPK5, HPKT510 and its derivative HPKSCA （cagA- disruptant） by western blotting analysis with immuno- precipitation. RESULTS： Genetic diversity of the H. pylori cdrA gene demonstrated that the cdrA status segregated into two categories including four allele types, cdrA-positive （al- lele types, I and 11 ） and cdrA-negative （allele types; 111 and IV） categories, respectively. Almost all Japanese isolates were cdrA-positive （ 1 ： 7.8% and 11 ： 90.2%）, whereas 16.9% of American isolates were cdrA-positive （11） and 83.1% were cdrA-negative （nl： 37.7% and IV： 45.5%）, indicating extended diversity of cdrA in individual American isolates. Comparison of each isolate from different regions （antrum and corpus） in the stomach of 29 Americans revealed that cdrA status was identical in both isolates from different regions in 17 cases. AIm To examine whether nizatidine stimulates duodenal HCO_3^- secretion in rats by inhibiting AChE activity. mETHODS Under pentobarbital anesthesia,a proximal duodenal loop was perfused with saline,and the HCO_3 secretion was measured at pH 7.0 using a pH-stat method and by adding 10mm ***,neostigmine,carbachol or famotidine was administered *** a single injection. RESULTS Intravenous administration of nizatidine(3-30 mg/kg)dose-dependently increased duodenal HCO_3^- secretion,and the effect at 10mg/kg was equivalent to that obtained by carbachol at 0.01 mg/*** nizatidine action was observed at the same dose range that inhibited acid secretion and enhanced gastric motility,mimicked by *** of neostigmine(0.03 mg/kg),and significantly attenuated by bilateral vagotomy and prior s.c. administration of atropine but not by indomethacin,a cyclooxygenase inhibitor,or N^G-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester,a NO synthase *** HCO_3^- secretory response to acetylcholine(0.001 mg/kg)was significantly potentiated by the concurrent administration of nizatidine(3mg/kg,i.v.).The IC_(50)of nizatidine for AChE of rat erythrocytes was 1.4×10^(-6)m,about 12 times higher than that of *** famotidine(>10^(-3)m, 30mg/kg,i.v.)nor cisapride(> 10^(-3)m, 3mg/kg,i.v.)had any influence on AChE activity or duodenal HCO_3^- *** damage induced by acid perfusion(100 mm HCI for 4 h)in the presence of indomethacin was significantly prevented by nizatidine and neostigmine,at the doses that increased the HCO_3^- secretion. CONCLUSION Nizatidine stimulates duodenal HCO_3^- secretion,in both vagal-dependent and atropine-sensitive manners,and the action is associated with the anti-AChE activity of this agent.

To determine the possibility that diabetes mellitus promotes pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma via glyceraldehyde (GA)-derived advanced glycation-end products (GA-AGEs). mETHODSPANC-1, a human pancreatic cancer cell line, was treated with 1-4 mmol/L GA for 24 h. The cell viability and intracellular GA-AGEs were measured by WST-8 assay and slot blotting. moreover, immunostaining of PANC-1 cells with an anti-GA-AGE antibody was performed. Western blotting (WB) was used to analyze the molecular weight of GA-AGEs. Heat shock proteins 90α, 90β, 70, 27 and cleaved caspase-3 were analyzed by WB. In addition, PANC-1 cells were treated with GA-AGEs-bovine serum albumin (GA-AGEs-BSA), as a model of extracellular GA-AGEs, and proliferation of PANC-1 cells was measured. RESULTSIn PANC-1 cells, GA induced the production of GA-AGEs and cell death in a dose-dependent manner. PANC-1 cell viability was approximately 40% with a 2 mmol/L GA treatment and decreased to almost 0% with a 4 mmol/L GA treatment (each significant difference was P mmol/L GA produced 6.4 and 21.2 μg/mg protein of GA-AGEs, respectively (P me high-molecular-weight (HmW) complexes of HSP90β, HSP70, and HSP27 was observed following administration of GA. We considered HmW complexes to be dimers and trimers with GA-AGEs-mediated aggregation. Cleaved caspase-3 could not be detected with WB. Furthermore, 10 and 20 μg/mL GA-AGEs-BSA was 27% and 34% greater than that of control cells, respectively (P may promote the proliferation of other pancreatic cancer cells.

Objective:Concurrent chemoradiotherapy using cisplatin was thought to be standard treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of cervix,but it had not been effective for *** chemoradiotherapy using irinotecan hydrochloride(CPT-11)had been effective for colorectal cancer,thus,we chose CPT-11 as a candidate for gynecologic *** evaluate the maximum tolerated dose(mTD)of weekly CPT-11 with external pelvic radiotherapy,a phase 1/2 study was conducted according to modified Fibonacci ***:Eligible patients were advanced uterine cancer with measurable diseases[performance score(PS):0-2].Study period was from August 1 st,2002 to December 31 st,*** starting dose level(DL)of CPT-11 was 30 mg/m2(DL1)given weekly for 4 ***,dose escalation was scheduled in 10 mg/m2 increments to 60 mg/m^2(DL4).The fixed radiotherapy consisted of whole pelvic 1.8 Gy/d,once a day in weekday for five weeks and it amounted to 45 Gy(25 fractions)in ***:Seventeen patients were *** for toxicities,one(1/17:5.9%)grade(G)4 neutropenia lasting 7 days had been seen in DL4.G2 diarrhea was identified in 35.3%(6/17)of the patients,and 11.8%(2/17)G3 diarrhea was observed in DL3 and ***,the mTD of CPT-11 was defined as dose of 60 mg/m^*** recommended dose was decided as 50 mg/m^*** response rate was 88.2%[9 complete response(CR),3 partial response(PR),3 stable disease(SD),2 not evaluable(NE)].Disease control rate at 1 month after treatment completion was 100%but distant metastases were found in 24%(4/17)in longer ***:mTD was 60 mg/m^2 and recommended dose was set as 50 mg/*** concurrent chemoradiation using weekly CPT-11 was feasible at 50 mg/m^2,and it might be effective even in adenocarcinoma of the uterus.

This paper analyzes performance of optimal channel estimation and multiuser detection(mUD) in a block-fading code-division multiple-access (CDmA) channel on the assumptions of randomspreading and large-system limit,by using the replica method developed in statistical *** authors find that the asymptotic spectral efficiency of the linear minimum mean-squared error(LmmSE) mUD which was proposed and analyzed by Evans and Tse in 2000 is indistinguishable fromthat of the optimal mUD for small system *** results imply that performance of mUD scarcelyimproves even if one spends more computational cost than that of the LmmSE mUD,i.e.,at most thecube of the number of users,on the above-described conditions.

Surface mass balance on Glacier No. 31 in the Suntar–Khayata Range, eastern Siberia, from 1951 to 2014

This study presents a 64-year （1951-2014） reconstruction of the surface mass balance of Glacier No. 31, located in the Suntar-Khayata Range of the eastern Siberia, where the ablation zone is characterized by the extensive dark ice surface. We use a temperature index-based glacier mass-balance model, which computes all major components of glacier mass budget and is forced by daily air temperature and precipitation from a nearby meteorological station. The glacier shows a mean annual mass balance of -0.35 m w.e.a-1 during the past 64 years, with an acceleration of -0.50 m w.e. a^-1 during the recent years. A cumulative mass loss of the glacier is -22.3 m w.e. over the study period, about 56% of which is observed during 1991-2014. In addition to the contribution of temperature rise and precipitation decrease to recent mass loss of the glacier, an experimental analysis, in which the clean and dark ice surfaces are respectively assumed to cover the entire ablation zone, indicates that dark ice surface, caused by insoluble impurities consisting of mineral dusts, eryoconite granules, and ice algae, plays a crucial role in the changing mass balance through enhancing melt rates in the ablation zone of the glacier.
