Background We aimed to systematically review the clinical and laboratory features of patients with the multisystem inflam-matory syndrome in pediatrics diagnosed during the COVID-19 *** sources A literature search in Web of Science,Pubmed,Scopus,and Science Direct was made up to June 29,*** Analysis of 15 articles(318 COVID-19 patients)revealed that although many patients presented with the typical multisystem inflammatory syndrome in pediatrics,Kawasaki-like features as fever(82.4%),polymorphous maculopapular exanthema(63.7%),oral mucosal changes(58.1%),conjunctival injections(56.0%),edematous extremities(40.7%),and cervical lymphadenopathy(28.5%),atypical gastrointestinal(79.4%)and neurocognitive symptoms(31.8%)were also *** had elevated serum lactic acid dehydrogenase,D-dimer,C-reactive protein,procalcitonin,interleukin-6,troponin I levels,and *** 77.0%developed hypotension,and 68.1%went into shock,while 41.1%had acute kidney *** care was needed in 73.7%of cases;13.2%were intubated,and 37.9%required mechanical *** immunoglobulins and steroids were given in 87.7%and 56.9%of the patients,respectively,and anticoagulants were utilized in 67.0%.Pediatric patients were discharged after a hospital stay of 6.77 days on average(95%CI 4.93-8.6).Conclusions Recognizing the typical and atypical presentation of the multisystem inflammatory syndrome in pediatric COVID-19 patients has important implications in identifying children at *** cardiac and renal decompensation and early interventions in patients with multisystem inflammatory syndrome is critical to prevent further morbidity.

Intraoperative complication rates in cataract surgery performed by resident trainees and staff surgeons in a tertiary eyecare center in Hungary

AIm: To compare the incidence of intraoperative complications during prim.ry phacoemulsification(phaco) surgery between resident surgeons(residents) and staff surgeons(specialists) and to objectively determine the difficulty of stages in phaco surgery. mETHODS: This retrospective study included cases of phaco cataract surgery performed between January and December 2019. There were no exclusion criteria. For each patient, demographics, clinical history, case complexity, type of surgeon, and operative details were reviewed. Prim.ry outcomes included intraoperative complication rates and the objective measure of difficulty in the steps of the surgery performed by residents and ***: A total of 3272 cases were included;7.4%(n=241) of cases were performed by residents. The overall complication rate was 5.4%(n=177). The intraoperative complication rate was significantly higher(Pmost frequent complications were posterior capsule tear(n=85, 2.6%), anterior capsule tear(n=50, 1.53%), zonular fiber loss(n=45, 1.38%), and dropped nucleus(n=15, 0.46%). Objectively, the most difficult steps during surgery were phaco in 66(60.0%), capsulorhexis in 21(19.1%), irrigation/aspiration in 13(11.8%), hydrodissection in 9(8.2%), and intraocular lens(IOL) implantation in 1(0.9%) case. CONCLUSION: Intraoperative complication rates are higher in residents than in specialists. The order of objective difficulty in phaco surgery steps is in line with the subjective findings of other surveys, revealing that the most challenging parts of phaco surgery are phaco and capsulorhexis.

We describe a patient with a Homo sapiens mutL homolog 1 (mLH1)-associated Lynch syndrome with previous diagnoses of two distinct prim.ry cancers:a sigmoid colon cancer at the age of 39 years, and a right colon cancer at the age of 50 years. The mutation identified in his blood and buccal cells, c.1771delG, ***591Ilefs*25, appears to be a de novo event, as it was not transmitted by either of his parents. This type of de novo event is rare in mLH1 as only three cases have been reported in the literature so far. Further-more, the discordant results observed between repli-cation error phenotyping and immunohistochemistry highlight the importance of the systematic use of both pre-screening tests in the molecular diagnosis of Lynch syndrome.

Crossability of Putative Hybrids of <i>Pinus sylvestris</i>and <i>Pinus mugo</i>with Their Parents

Artificial hybridization experiment with the Pinus sylvestris and Pinus mugo putative hybrid individuals and their parents revealed a selective nature of their crossability conditioned by the identical chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) haplotypes of the crossed individuals. Efficiency of hybridization between hybrid individual H1 of P. sylvestris haplotype and P. sylvestris paternal tree was relatively high, as evidenced by 78.03% of filled seeds. On the contrary, the crossing of H1 individual with P. mugo was unsuccessful. Likewise, the crossability of the H2 individual of P. mugo haplotype with the paternal tree P. mugo resulted in 31.15% of filled seeds. A relatively high crossability was characteristic also for the H1 and H2 hybrid trees of different cpDNA haplotypes. A conclusion has been drawn postulating weakened reproduction barrier between hybrid swarm individuals and the paternal species P. sylvestris and P. mugo. Differentiation of the putatively hybrid individuals from the parental species is accompanied by the variation in cpDNA inheritance.

Head and neck squamous cell cancer(HNSCC) is the sixth most common cancer in the world. Effective therapeutic modalities such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and combinations of each are used in the management of the disease. In most cases, treatment fails to obtain total cancer cure. In recent years, it appears that one of the key determinants of treatment failure may be the presence of cancer stem cells(CSCs) that escape currently available therapies. CSCs form a small portion of the total tumor burden but may play a disproportionately important role in determining outcomes. CSCs have stem features such as self-renewal, high migration capacity, drug resistance, high proliferation abilities. A large body of evidence points to the fact that CSCs are particularly resistant to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In HNSCC, CSCs have been increasingly shown to have an integral role in tumor initiation, disease progression, metastasis and treatment resistance. In the light of such observations, the present review summarizes biological characteristics of CSCs in HNSCC, outlines targeted strategies for the successful eradication of CSCs in HNSCC including targeting the self-renewal controlling pathways, blocking epithelial mesenchymal transition, niche targeting, immunotherapy approaches and highlights the need to better understand CSCs biology for new treatments modalities.

A Decision Support Framework for the Choice of Languages and methods for the Design of Real Time Embedded Systems

The choice of methods or design languages is a crucial phase in the development of systems and software, also for real time and embedded systems. An open question that remains in the design of these types of systems is to build a method, or to choose one among those existing, capable to cover the life cycle of a project, and particularly the development phases. This article contributes to answer the question, by proposing an approach based on a multi-criteria comparative study, of few languages and methods dedicated to the design of real time and embedded systems. The underlying objective of this work is to present to designers a wide range of approaches, and elements that can guide their choices. In order to reach this goal, we propose different comparison criteria. Each criterion is divided into sub-criteria, so that the designers can refine their choices according to the qualities they prefer and wish to have in the method or language. We also define a rating scale which is used to assess the retained languages and methods. The scores obtained from this assessment are presented in tables, one table per criterion, followed by a summ.ry table giving the overall scores. Graphics built from these tables are provided and intend to facilitate the judgement and thus the choice of the designers.

AIm To analyze the effect of intralesional steroid injections in addition to endoscopic dilation of benign refractory esophageal *** A comprehensive search was performed in three databases from inception to 10 April 2017 to identify trials, comparing the efficacy of endoscopic dilation to dilation combined with intralesional steroid injections. Following the data extraction, meta-analytical calculations were performed on measures of outcome by the randomeffects method of Der Simonian and Laird. Heterogeneity of the studies was tested by Cochrane's Q and I^2 statistics. Risk of quality and bias was assessed by the Newcastle Ottawa Scale and JADAD assessment *** Eleven articles were identified suitable for analyses, involving 343 patients, 235 cases and 229 controls in total. Four studies used crossover design with 121 subjects enrolled. The periodic dilation index(PDI) was comparable in 4 studies, where the pooled result showed a significant improvement of PDI in the steroid group(mD:-1.12 dilation/month, 95% CI:-1.99 to -0.25 P = 0.012; I^2 = 74.4%). The total number of repeat dilations(TNRD) was comparable in 5 studies and showed a non-significant decrease(mD:-1.17, 95%CI:-0.24-0.05, P = 0.057; I^2 = 0), while the dysphagia score(DS) was comparable in 5 studies and did not improve(SmD: 0.35, 95%CI:-0.38, 1.08, P = 0.351; I^2 = 83.98%) after intralesional steroid *** Intralesional steroid injection increases the time between endoscopic dilations of benign refractory esophageal strictures. However, its potential role needs further research.

mechanical Characterization of Rubber Latex-Based Carpets (Hevea bresiliensis): Influence of Rubber Latex Content and Fiber Fabrics (Cotton and mosquito Nets) on Wear Resistance of Rubber Latex-Based Carpets

This work focuses on the development of carpets from sand, fabrics of cotton fiber and mosquito nets and rubber latex. Following a study on the choice of the best formulations, the quantity of rubber latex used for shaping varies between 14% and 18% (latex/sand + latex ratio) for the carpet with the fabric of mosquito nets and between 16% and 18% for the one made with the fabric of cotton fiber. Thus, with a mixture of sand, fiber fabrics (cotton and mosquito nets) and rubber latex, carpets were developed. In addition, the wear test carried out on these samples indicates that it is possible to produce carpets with the new material made of rubber sand and latex: SABLATEX At room temperature. Following the characterization test, it resorts to only 16% latex with cotton fiber fabric, allowing to have carpets with good mechanical characteristics.

Reactive uveitis, retinal vasculitis and scleritis as ocular end-stage of Acanthamoeba keratitis: a histological study

We analysed histologically two Acanthamoeba keratitis(AK) eyes with anterior and posterior segment inflammation and blindness. Two enucleated eyes of 2 patients(age 45 and 51y) with AK(PCR of epithelial abrasion positive) were analysed. Histological analysis was performed using hematoxylin-eosin, periodic acid-Schiff and G?m?rimethenamine silver staining. We could not observe Acanthamoeba trophozoites or cysts neither in the cornea nor in other ocular tissues. meanwhile, we found uveitis, retinal vasculitis and scleritis in these eyes, due to the long-standing, recalcitrant AK. So in this stage of AK, systemic immune suppression may be necessary for a longer time period.
