Spectrometric measurement of Plasma Parameters Utilizing the Target Ambient Gas O I &N I Atomic Lines in LIBS Experiment

In this article, we shall report the results of the spectroscopic measurements of the plasma parameters utilizing the spectral lines emitted from the air atoms surrounding plasma (O I line at 777.19 nm and N I at 746.83 nm). The plasma was created via irradiation of plane solid aluminum target in open air by a high peak power Nd: YAG laser pulses at fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm. The emission spectra were recorded using Echelle type spectrograph in conjunction with a time gated ICCD camera at different delay time from 1 to 5 μs and at a fixed gate time of 1 μs. The plasma electron density was measured utilizing the Stark broadening of the N I and O I lines and then compared to the reference density as deduced from the optically thin Hα-line at 656.27 nm appeared in the same emission spectra. The results show that under our experimental conditions the air lines are subjected to moderate absorption. The plasma electron temperature was measured utilizing the relative spectral intensity of the air (O I to N I) lines after correcting their spectral radiance against absorption. The standard temperature was measured utilizing the Al II ionic lines. A comparison to the reference temperatures shows a very close agreement after correcting the emission spectral radiance of the air lines against self absorption, which emphasizes the importance of correction process.

We have utilized the relative intensity of magnesium lines originated from the mg I at 285.2 nm and mg II at 280.27, 279.55 nm to measure the plasma electron temperature. The plasma was produced via interaction of Nd:YAG laser with solid aluminum target contains traces of magnesium. The magnesium lines were found to suffer from optical thickness which manifests itself on the form of scattered points around the Saha-Boltzmann line. We have utilized a simple method used for rapid calculation to the amount of absorption to these lines via comparison of the electron densities as deduced from magnesium lines to that evaluated from the optically thin hydrogen Hα line at 656.27 nm appeared in the same spectra under the same condition. A correction to the magnesium spectral lines intensities was carried out;hence the corrected temperatures were re-evaluated. The measurements were repeated at different delay times ranging from 1 to 5 μsec. This work emphasizes on the importance of correcting the emitted spectral line intensity against the effect of self absorption before using them in the calculation of plasma electron temperature in laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) experiments.

In this article we will present an attempt to measure the Stark broadening parameter of the Zn I-line at 636.23 nm utilizing the optical emission spectroscopy (OES) technique, taking into consideration the possibility of existence of self absorption. This method is standing on comparison of the Lorentzian FWHm and spectral line intensity of the unknown Stark broadening parameter line (Zn I-636.23 nm—in our case) to a well known Stark parameter line (e.g. Zn I-lines at 472.2, 481 and 468 nm) at a reference electron density of 2.7 × 1017 cm-3 and temperature of 1 eV. We have utilized the emission spectral data acquired from well diagnosed plasma produced by the interaction of Nd: YAG laser at wavelength of 1064 nm with ZnO nanomaterial target in open air. The results indicates that the Stark broadening of the Zn I-line at 636.23 nm is centered at 5.06 ± 0.03 ? with a 25% uncertainty at the given reference plasma parameters. The knowledge of the Stark broadening parameter of the 636.23 nm line may be important in the diagnostics of the laser plasma experiments especially in the absence of the Hα-line.

Background: Complications linked to postpartum & pregnancy are one of the major causes of female death. BACKGROUND The current coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has affected routine endoscopy service across the gastroenterology *** led to the suspension of service provision for elective *** To assess the potential barriers for resuming the endoscopy service in *** A national online survey,four domains,was disseminated over a period of 4 wk in August *** primary outcome of the survey was to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the endoscopy service and barriers to the full resumption of a disabled center(s).RESULTS A hundred and thirteen Egyptian endoscopy centers participated in the *** waiting list was increased by≥50% in 44.9% of areas with clusters of COVID-19 cases(n=49)and in 35.5% of areas with sporadic cases(n=62).Thirty nine(34.8%)centers suffered from staff shortage,which was considered a barrier against service resumption by 86.4% of centers in per-protocol *** multivariate analysis,the burden of cases in the unit locality,staff shortage/recovery and the availability of separate designated rooms for COVID-19 cases could markedly affect the resumption of endoscopy practice(P=0.029,mic has led to restrictions in endoscopic *** staff shortage/recovery and the availability of COVID-19 designed rooms are the most important barriers against *** working hours and dividing endoscopy staff into teams may help to overcome the current situation.

AIm To evaluate the evolution, trends in surgical approaches a n d r e c o n s t r u c t i o n t e c h n i q u e s, a n d i m p o r t a n t lessons learned from performing 1000 consecutive pancreaticoduodenectomies(PDs) for periampullary *** This is a retrospective review of the data of all patients who underwent PD for periampullary tumor during the period from January 1993 to April 2017. The data were categorized into three periods, including early period(1993-2002), middle period(2003-2012), and late period(2013-2017).RESULTS The frequency showed PD was increasingly performed after the year 2000. With time, elderly, cirrhotic and obese patients, as well as patients with uncinate process carcinoma and borderline tumor were increasingly selected for PD. The median operative time and postoperative hospital stay decreased significantly over the periods. Hospital mortality declined significantly, from 6.6% to 3.1%. Postoperative complications significantly decreased, from 40% to 27.9%. There was significant decrease in postoperative pancreatic fistula in the second 10 years, from 15% to 12.7%. There was a significant improvement in median survival and overall survival among the *** Surgical results of PD significantly improved, with mortality rate nearly reaching 3%. Pancreatic reconstruction following PD is still debatable. The survival rate was also improved but the rate of recurrence is still high, at 36.9%.

AIm:To investigate the clinicopathological features and the significance of different prognostic factors which predict surgical overall survival in patients with gastric ***:This retrospective study includes 80 patients diagnosed and treated at gastroenterology surgical center,mansoura University,Egypt between February 2009 to February *** factors were assessed by cox proportional hazard ***:There were 57 male and 23 *** median age was 57 years(24-83).One,3 and 5 years survival rates were 71%,69% and 46% *** median survival was 69.96 *** the follow-up period,13 patients died(16%).Hospital morbidity was reported in 10 patients(12.5%).The median number of lymph nodes removed was 22(4-41).Lymph node(LN) involvement was found in 91% of *** R0 resection,depth of wall invasion,LN involvement and the number(> 15) of retrieved LN,LN ratio and tumor differentiation predict *** multivariable analysis,tumor differentiation,curability of resection and a number of resected LN superior to 15 were found to beindependent prognostic ***:Surgery remains the cornerstone of *** differentiation,curability of resection and a number of resected LN superior to 15 were found to be independent prognostic *** LN dissection does not increase the morbidity or mortality rate but markedly improves long term survival.
