India,under its breeding blanket R&D program for DEmO,is focusing on the development of two tritium breeding blanket concepts;namely the lead-lithium-cooled ceramic breeder and the helium-cooled ceramic breeder(HCCB).The study presented in this paper focuses on the neutronic design analysis and optimization from the tritium breeding perspective of the HCCB blanket.The Indian concept has an edge-on configuration and is one of the variants of the helium-cooled solid breeder blanket concepts proposed by several partner countries in ITER.The Indian HCCB blanket having lithium titanate(Li2TiO3)as the tritium breeder and beryllium(Be)as the neutron multiplier with reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic steel structure aims at utilizing the low-energy neutrons at the rear part of the blanket.The aim of the optimization study is to minimize the radial blanket thickness while ensuring tritium self-sufficiency and provide data for further neutronic design and thermal-hydraulic layout of the HCCB blanket.It is found that inboard and outboard blanket thicknesses of 40 cm and 60 cm,respectively,can give a tritium breeding ratio(TBR)>1.3,with 60%6Li enrichment,which is assumed to be sufficient to cover potential tritium losses and associated uncertainties.The results also demonstrated that the Be packing fraction(PF)has a more profound impact on the TBR as compared to 6Li enrichment and the PF of Li2TiO3.

We introduce a new integral scheme namely improved Kudryashov method for solving any nonlinear fractional differential model.Specifically,we apply the approach to the nonlinear space-time fractional model leading the wave to spread in electrical transmission lines(s-tfETL),the time fractional complex Schrödinger(tfcS),and the space-time m-fractional Schrödinger-Hirota(s-tm-fSH)models to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.The implementing of the introduced new technique based on the models provides us with periodic envelope,exponentially changeable soliton envelope,rational rogue wave,periodic rogue wave,combo periodic-soliton,and combo rational-soliton solutions,which are much interesting phenomena in nonlinear sciences.Thus the results disclose that the proposed technique is very effective and straight-forward,and such solutions of the models are much more fruitful than those from the generalized Kudryashov and the modified Kudryashov methods.

This study focused on the quantitative analysis of the petrophysical parameters in characterizing the reservoir properties of the Srikail gas field using multi-scale wireline logs.Petrophysical parameters(shale volume,porosity,water saturation and hydrocarbon saturation)were estimated from the combination of gamma ray log,resistivity log,density log and neutron log for three hydrocarbon(gas)-bearing zones at well#3.At the first time,log records at 0.1 m and 0.2 m intervals were read for this study.Result showed the average shale volume is 21.07%,53.67%and 51.71%for zone-1,zone-2 and zone-3,respectively.For these zones,the estimated average porosity was 35.89%,29.83%and 28.76%,respectively.The average water saturation of 31.54%,16.83%and 23.39%and average hydrocarbon saturation of 68.46%,83.17%and 76.61%were calculated for zone-1,zone-2 and zone-3,respectively.Thus zone-2 is regarded the most productive zone of well#3.It was found that the values of some parameters(porosity,hydrocarbon saturation and permeability)are higher than the existing results.Therefore,this study confirmed that the log reading at minute/close interval provides better quantitive values of the reservoir’s petrophysical properties.It is expected that this result will contribute to the national gas field development program in future.

The study is focussing towards metal Injection moulding (mIm) of mg-alloys for biomedical implantapplications. Especially the influence of the sintering processing necessary for the consolidation of thefinished part is in focus of this study. In doing so, the chosen high strength EZK400 mg-alloy powdermaterial was sintered using different sintering support bottom plate materials to evaluate the possibilityof iron impurity pick up during sintering. It can be shown that iron pick up took place from the steelbottom plate into the specimen. Despite the fact that a separating boron nitrite (BN) barrier layer wasused and the mg-Fe phase diagram is not predicting any significant solubility to each other. As a result ofthis study a new bottom plate material not harming the sintering and the biodegradation performance ofthe as sintered material, namely a carbon plate material, was found.

IRX14 and IRX14-LIKE （IRX14L） are two closely related glycosyl transferases in the glycosyl transferase 43 （GT43） family of Arabidopsis. A T-DNA insertion mutant for IRX14 results in comparatively minor changes, such as irregular xylem, while a mutation for IRX14L results in no changes. However, an irx14 and irx14L double mutant severely affects growth and development, with the dwarf plants failing to produce an inflorescence stem. Plants that are homozygous for IRX14 but heterozygous for IRX14L （irx14 irx14L（±）） exhibit an intermediate phenotype, including noticeably smaller leaves, stems, and underdeveloped siliques. Additionally, the T-DNA insertion mutant for IRX14 was found to result in a drought-tolerant phenotype. Carbohydrate analysis of total cell wall extracts revealed a reduction in xylose for the irx14 and irx14 irx14L（±） mutants, consistent with a defect in glucuronoxylan biosynthesis. Immunolocalization of xylan with the Lm10 antibody revealed a loss of xylan in irx14 mutants and a further reduction in the irx14 irx14L（±） mutants. IRX14L likely functions redundantly with IRX14 in glucuronoxylan biosynthesis, with IRX14 having a more important role in the process.

Despite impressive survival benefits with immunotherapy in patients with various solid tumors, the full potential of these agents in prostate cancer has yet to be realized. SipuleuceI-T demonstrated a survival benefit in this population, indicating that prostate cancer is an immunoresponsive disease; however, these results have not been matched by other agents. A large trial with ipilimumab in prostate cancer failed to meet its primary objective, and small trials with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors did not yield a significant improvement in overall response. However, several late-stage clinical trials are underway with other vaccines in prostate cancer. Reports of clinical benefit with immunotherapies, particularly when used in combination or a select population, have provided the framework to develop sound clinical trials. Understanding immunogenic modulation, antigen spread, biomarkers, and DNA-repair defects will also help mold future strategies. Through rational patient selection and evidence-based combination approaches, patients with prostate cancer may soon derive durable survival benefits with immunotherapies.

Humidity sensing properties of CU_2O-PEPC nanocomposite films

A blend of copper oxide nanopowder （Cu2O）, 3 wt.%, and poly-N-epoxypropylcarbazole （PEPC）, 2 wt.%, in benzol was drop-casted on glass substrates with pre-deposited surface-type silver electrodes for the fabrication of Cu20-PEPC nanocomposite thin films. The thicknesses of the Cu20-PEPC films were in the range of 10-13 μm. The effect of humidity on the electrical properties of the nanocomposite films was investigated by measuring the capacitance and dissipation of the samples at two different frequencies of the applied voltage： 120 Hz and 1 kHz. The AC resistance of the samples was determined from the dissipation values, and the DC resistance was measured directly. The effect of ageing on the humidity sensing properties of the nanocomposite was observed. After ageing, it was observed that at 120 Hz and 1 kHz, under a humidity of up to 86% RH, the capacitance of the cell increased by 85 and 8 times, and the resistance decreased by 345 and 157 times, accordingly, with respect to 30% RH conditions. It was found that with an increase in frequency, the capacitance and resistance of the samples decreased. It is assumed that the humidity response of the cell is associated with the diffusion of water vapors and doping of the semiconductor nanocomposite by water molecules.

Since the 1970s,electronic fetal monitoring(EFm)also known as cardiotocography(CTG)has been used extensively in labor around the world,despite its known failure to help prevent many babies from developing neonatal encephalopathy and cerebral palsy.Part of EFm’s poor performance with respect to these outcomes arises from a fundamental misunderstanding of the differences between screening and diagnostic tests,subjective classifications of fetal heart rate(FHR)patterns that lead to large inter-observer variability in its interpretation,failure to appreciate early stages of fetal compromise,and poor statistical modeling for its use as a screening test.We have developed a new approach to the practice and interpretation of EFm called the fetal reserve index(FRI)which does the following:(1)breaking FHR components down into 4 components,(heart rate,variability,accelerations,and decelerations);(2)contextualizing the metrics by adding increased uterine activity;(3)adding specific maternal,fetal,and obstetric risk factors.The result is an eight-point scoring metric that,when directly compared with current American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists EFm categories,even in version 1.0 with equal weighting of variables,shows that the FRI has performed much better for identifying cases at risk before damage had occurred,reducing the need for emergency deliveries,and lowering overall Cesarean delivery rates.With increased data,we expect further refinements in the specifics of scoring that will allow even earlier detection of compromise in labor.

A translucent wooden substrate with long-lasting phosphorescence,high photostability and durability,tough surface,ultraviolet protection,high optical transmittance,and superhydrophobicity was developed.This long-lasting phosphorescent wooden substrate is able to continue emitting light for extended time periods.Lignin-modified wood(LmW)was immobilized with a solution of epoxy resin(ER)and rare-earth doped aluminate(REDA)phosphor nanoparticles(NPs).For an improved dispersion of pigment,REDA was synthesized in a nanoscale particle size,and characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEm)to indicate a particle size of 8-14 nm.The crystal structure of REDA nanoparticles was also proved by X-ray diffraction(XRD).For an improved production of long-persistent phosphorescent colo rless woods,REDA must be well-dispersed in mAA without aggregation.Absorption and emissio n,as well as decay and lifetime spectra were explored.The morphologies of the wooden substrates with different ratios of REDA were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEm),X-ray fluorescence(XRF)analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectra(FT-IR),elemental mapping,and energy-dispersion Xray(EDXA).The phosphorescent woods show changes in color from colorless to green under ultraviolet(UV)irradiation,and to yellowish-green in the dark,as proved by the colorimetric parameters of the CIE Lab system.The afterglow wood samples display an absorbance band at 365 nm and two phosphorescent bands at 431 and 520 nm.Improved UV shielding,photostability,and hydrophobicity were explored.With increasing REDA ratio,both static contact and slide angles are found to improve in the ranges of147.6°-163.6°and 9°-14°,respectively.The long-lasting photoluminescence is optimized at a REDA ratio of 8%.The present strategy shows a large-scale production approach of multiple functional woods for many potential applications,such as smart glow in the dark windows and safety signs.
