The effect of swelling agent on the physicochemical properties of mesoporous hydroxyapatite particles synthesized by self-assembly process has been investigated. Cetyl trimethylammonium bromide(CTAB) and 1-dodecanethiol were used as soft template and swelling agent respectively. The results of the field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEm), X-ray diffraction(XRD), simultaneous thermal analysis(STA), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) surface area, small-angle X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)assessments revealed that in the case of low concentration, 1-dodecanethiol performed as swelling agent and caused an increase in the pore size. However, at higher concentrations it led to the formation of microemulsion and foamy structures. The optimum swelling agent: surfactant mass ratio in synthesis of mesoporous hydroxyapatite particles with high pore volume was determined to be around 2.1 in this study.

Purpose The aims of the present study were two-fold:(i)to investigate the relationship between physical characteristics and the game statistics associated with ball-carrying capability amongst sub-elite rugby union players,and(ii)to predict the level of change in these physical characteristics required to improve the associated game statistic via regression *** Thirty-eight senior professional players(forwards,n=22;backs,n=16)were assessed for body mass(Bm),back squat(BS)single-repetition maximum(1Rm)normalised to Bm(1Rm/Bm),10 m sprint velocity(S10),10 m sprint momentum(Sm10),and the game statistics from 22 games within the 2019/20 RFU Championship *** relationship between these measures and the predicted level of change in a physical measure required to improve the total number of the associated game statistic by one were assessed by Pearson’s correlation coefficient and simple regression *** In forwards,an~11.5%reduction in Bm,an~11.8%improvement in BS 1Rm/Bm,or an~11.5%increase in S10 was required to improve the game statistics associated with ball-carrying *** backs,a~19.3%increase in Bm or a~15.6%improvement in Sm10 was *** These findings demonstrate that improvements in lower-body relative strength,acceleration performance,and position-specific alterations in body mass are required to maximise the ball-carrying capability and therefore match outcome of sub-elite rugby union players.

The influence of ^(60)Co(γ-ray)irradiation on the electrical characteristics of Al/Si_(3)N_(4)/p-Si(mIS)structures is investigated using capacitance-voltage(C–V)and conductance-voltage(G/ω–V)*** mIS structures are exposed to a ^(60)Coγradiation source at a dose of 0.7 kGy/h,with a total dose range of 0–100 *** C–V and G/ω–V properties are measured before and after ^(60)Coγ-ray irradiation at 500 kHz and room *** is found that the capacitance and conductance values decrease with the increase in the total dose due to the irradiation-induced defects at the *** results also indicate thatγradiation causes an increase in the barrier height ФB,Fermi energy EF and depletion layer width W_(D).The interface state density(N_(ss)),using the Hill–Coleman method and dependent on radiation dose,is determined from the C–V and G/ω–V measurements and decreases with an increase in the radiation *** decrease in the interface states can be attributed to the decrease in the recombination centers and the passivation of the Si surface due to the deposition insulator layer(Si_(3)N_(4)).In addition,it is clear that the acceptor concentration NA decreases with increasing radiation *** profile of series resistance Rs for various radiation doses is obtained from forward and reverse-biased C–V and G/ω–V measurements,and its values decrease with increasing radiation dose,while it increases with increasing voltage in the accumulation region.

A simple, low cost, easily maintained, and reliable field distortion spark gap has been developed to operate at a voltage up to 30 kV. The header construction necessary to attach the spark gap switch to a single 12.5 μF, 40 kV （10 k J） capacitor is described. The main features of the spark gap are its wide range of voltage operation, high current capacity, low inductance and long lifetime. The performance of spark gap has been tested in a plasma focus and results are presented in this report.

The application of swirl tube cyclone for gas-liquid separation is attractive due to its small size and weight. However, very scarce information on the performance of the swirl tube cyclone especially at high operating pressure emulating actual field condition was published in journals. Performance assessment was usually done at a low operating pressure using either air-water, air-fine particle mixtures or dense gas such as SF6 . This paper fills the existing gaps and reports the initial findings on the performance assessment of a horizontal swirl tube cyclone for gas-liquid separation operating at a flow rate of 5 mmSCFD at 40-60 bar operating pressure.

Amorphous gallium selenide （a-GaSe） semiconductor nanoparticle thin films were deposited onto well cleaned glass substrates by inert gas condensation （IGC） technique under a vacuum of 400 x 10-6 Pa （3 x 10-6 Torr）. The films were characterized by different structural and optical techniques, including X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEm）, field emission transmission electron microscopy （FETEm）, UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and I-V measurements. The particle size and size distribution were determined by TEm images which show the presence of spherical particles in the range of 5-50 nm in size. SEm images indicate that the a-GaSe film grown on glass substrate is almost smooth and dense. The optical properties of a-GaSe nanoparticle thin films were determined by optical absorption spectra. The optical bandgap of the film was estimated to be 2.19 eV and the transitions are allowed direct type. The electrical conductivity of the deposited films has been studied as a function of temperature. In the higher temperature range the dominance of thermally activated band conduction was observed; whereas in the low temperature ranqe the hoppinQ conduction in the band tails of localized states was found to be dominated.
